I have done exactly one roof. It was a shigle over on my mothers 8ftx16ft shed thing has a larbe buble skylight on one side. Don't know why YT recomended this to me but I watched it all the way through the wind was not to bad. Always love to see craftsman work thier trade and lean things.
You have this video, so I think it would’ve been better to just give this video to the customer for the file instead of pictures. But both is good. Keep the videos coming!
Just a tip - that first ridge cap after doing the hip cap should be cut on the head lap rather than on the reveal side of the cap. This will eliminate the need for sealant on the cut and will make a better product.
I like that you are doing photos - Do you think other roofers would not be offended if homeowners asked for photo proof of the key moments in a job? eg - removing and replacing plywood sheathing? Show underlayment and ice and shield have been installed over entire roof (vs what is only visible from the ground. (my last roof - the company did not put on the underlayment.)
Yes, we take pictures of everything throughout the process. Especially before photos when there is damage. That has saved us thousands. Then, after the job, if there are ever customers questioning anything, we can usually show photos.
Brian makes this work look "easy" but trying to free asphalt shingles that are sealed, is a hard task. Every time I approach this kind of work, I find myself tearing off more shingles than I planned on. The community is fortunate to have his services. What brand of ridge vent was being used here?
I'm sure the heat was a contributing factor, but that is more than likely the original ridge cap from the roof under it. They never replaced it. It's an old organic ridge cap.
Do you encounter ridge guards often? I recently had one installed to prevent bats from returning. I’m a little concerned that they used screws to install it. Have you seen these cause leaks? The ridge guard manufacturer states the screws are self sealing. Thanks!
How did I spend my Friday night? Watching Brian replace a ridge vent. (Not upset about it at all.)
So true😂
That's how I'm spending my Saturday morning...LOL
My back and feet hurt just watching this.
They do if you've done it like I have for 40 years I put on roofs retired now but I hurt everyday!!

Brian is a skilled roof surgeon! Thank you for posting.
Lol thanks!
That looks super steep. I noticed that you are wearing those special soles that have good grip and not hard on the shingles. Stay safe
That's a wicked repair, but YOU GOT THIS, ALL DAY BROTHER!!👊

Is it the heat that caused that to go that bad?

Those seem like the most stuck-down shingles ever. Don’t put down the keyboard warriors! Good for the algorithm!
We just cut little circles, half dollar size out of the ridge piece and put it over the caulking exposed nails.
Sloppy work
