Just a tip for anyone putting the ridge caps on themselves. Pay attention to the wind direction in your area. If the wind blows from east to west for example, start the ridge cap so the exposed or open overlapping area is on the west, that way the wind doesn't have a chance to get under the shingle.
You're not supposed to use architectural shingles as roof ridge caps. Get the matching shingle in a 3 tab. Cleaner look and will not blow off. Also don't forget to use starter on both ends so the first and last one sticks! I almost made the same mistake.
Ridge cap are thicker than regular shingles and they come pre bent to easily fit along the ridge. Of course you can always double up to make them look as thick
Hi brother! Yes they do have a nail gun that specifically for roofing. I hope you got my last message from my last video brother because you won that giveaway brother. Please email me when you have time at Fixthishouse1@yahoo.com

Thanks for this tutorial. I was able to repair my shed roof using the same technique.
Why didn't you show how you put in the last piece? Is that not the most important piece you have to lay down
what did you do with the existing short nails. leave them? bang them down? pull them, do you need to seal if you pull them? ty
This looks like exactly what I needed! Need to color match shingles and I'll get started
Why wouldn't you use a few dabs of asphalt plastic cement to hold down the end cap?
What about the holes where the old nails came out of? Do you just leave them open to the eliminates allowing water to enter the home. Not a good idea.

That would be nice. If only most of the roofers knew that.
What about using the shingles specifically created to be used as a roof cap ,aren't they supposed to be stronger than a regular 3 tab roof shingle?
If you can find them, which were not available to me, plus they cost more, and 3 tabs work perfectly.@@staresce

Wouldn't doubling up on the shingles be hard to work with?
Awesome! Great tips bro.
Thank you bro! Have a great weekend my friend! 👍🏽😊
love the content! sucks you had to fix your roof, but hey you got content! and more learning!
Thank you brother! Yes it was super windy these past few days 😅.
Nice install. Do they not sell a sort of mail machine/ mail gun, that would help with installing the nails?

How come you dont have the end flush that will catch the wind and rip up
Awesome
Thank you 🙏🏽!
YOU ARE MASTER
Thank you so much brother 🙏🏽😊 you are awesome 💯
No wonder they blew off. Those premade caps are super long and the wind will catch them easy. Use 3 tab shingles instead and cut your own.
It was crazy huh!?
Oh yes! The 🌲 we’re going crazy too!
@@FixThisHouse yeah! Wednesday right?
I use the ridge vent for my CATHEDRAL ROOF, see here: th-cam.com/video/mTFxX0SzUoc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MRpLEXICOLmwq_1b
Another tutorial that should have been 1 minute.
Another comment that should have been kept to yourself.
