  • My first armor review for my first piece of armor ever!
    Here is a link to Aleksey Perebynos public page:
    / aleksey.perebeynos.wor...
    This was a titanium brigandine (brig) made by Aleksey Perebynos that I picked up for sale from someone in the USA. Check out my experience with it and what I think about it.
    Let me know your opinions in the comment section below too! I'm still newer to this sport, about a year in now, so if something I said was wrong about the armor, can be expanded upon, or any ideas, likes and things to know, comment below!
    Some extra details:
    I paid $525 for this brig. It was a good deal, sometimes you pay more than that, sometimes less.

    Mate, I’ve been toying with getting one made by him, and the few people I’ve spoken too locally have nothing but praise for Alex’s work.

      I've heard it literally every time he's brought up, not even an exaggeration. His stuff just plain works well too.

      Alex is literally the king of brigandine. I've spent the last 3 months researching armor parts and I've not seen anyone cheaper or have better quality, even the indian armor smiths who are willing to go super low sometimes can't keep up with his prices and quality.

    Hey , I have a question
    I'm from south Argenta ( good armor is very hard to come by here) I have a trip planned and I'm going to have a opportunity to have a set of arms and legs made to my measurements
    I have te choice to have them done in titanium or hardened steel, what would you recommend?
    Both options would be a huge upgrade for me ( mild steel is the norm here and my set wasn't made for me )
    Would appreciate any advice , sorry for my inglish

    • @GrantTheKnight
      @GrantTheKnight  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what you’re going to do. A lot of people use titanium, it’s also lighter and will hold up fine in most things, but I’ve been told not to use it in team melee fights for international competition, as you really need the protection. On the flip side I’m pretty sure I know people who use titanium in international competitions lol.

    • @brunocerra1850
      @brunocerra1850 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GrantTheKnight thanks for taking the time to answer
      International events will probably be few and far between for me ,so it's not my main concern
      If protection is good enough for most cases I'm probably going to go with titanium for the weight difference
      Thanks

    • @GrantTheKnight
      @GrantTheKnight  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve seen it once that I can remember and they got hurt bad. I wouldn’t recommend it outside of practices.

    Armour looks cool, a mail shirt or brig. Unfortunately, I can't think of a practical use I might have to justify the expense.

    • @GrantTheKnight
      @GrantTheKnight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! You can get substantially cheaper ones that you can't fight in for looks. But yeah, the cost is definitely a reason to keep fighting for sure. Still not as expensive as plenty of other hobbies though. 😅

    Titanium = mithril/mithral.
    How does the weight compare to a steel brig?

    • @GrantTheKnight
      @GrantTheKnight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on your size and the brig style, but mine is about 14 lbs.

    I just got into the sport, is titanium allowed in rigs?

    • @GrantTheKnight
      @GrantTheKnight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, there are requirements on thickness in the rules depending on where, and I'd advise against titanium gauntlets. Check ACS/ACW/HMB rules depending on which you are doing.
