Shredding can be cool sometimes. Playing a bunch of notes really fast? It is not very nice to listen to. Too bad. The rest of the performance is pretty fun. I guess it is not just a bunch of notes. Probably pentatonic in what ever key they working in. Maybe a flat V here and there.

Fun little fact in Aerosmith Janie's got a gun,Joe perry used a acoustic style guitar for the song and solo, he turned up the distortion to max on a tube amp(nearly blew the amp) but it sounded gritty and raw. Just goes to show: if it has a pickup, you can add whatever to make it rock.
This whole band was so in tune with each other for this performance. What freakin' professionals. Of course Zakk slaughtered the guitar, but that bass player, the drummer, and the pianist were laying it down for him. The stuff they were adding made the solo that much more dynamic. Hats off to the whole band!
For my ears the piano played its own solo and was dysonant (is that even a word in English) , I mean not in tune, with the guitar. The piano was too much, two solos, but only Zacks solo was stunning and should be heard , not disturbed by some wrong piano tunes.
This man keeps playing, singing, performing and gets better and better as the years pass. Trying to watch his fretting hand is near impossible. One of the truly great guitarists alive today.

I would love to hear his interpretation of All Along the Watchtower, the Jimi Hendrix version. That is other-worldly style guitar work. Zakk has those type of chops. I'm 65 and still hypnotized by Zakk Wylde when he get's down to work.

I mean don't get me wrong, he's EASILY the fastest pentatonic player in the world, but man he could be so much more. Zakk Wylde is one of the most underrated guitarists ever to play! He is unbelievable......he has a sound like no other.....his playing is so clean. His fame hasn't gone to his head either. He has remained a very nice person too.
I saw Zach a few years ago with the Hendrix tribute and was forever changed. My respect for him will never diminish and he continues to blow my mind. Speed, precision, soul, growl, showmanship, and stamina beyond beyond.

Zakk looks to the drummer and bassist - nodding the timing for the (first) ending...then it's all instinct until the last second when Zakk looks back to the drummer again for the ending. Quick eye-contact "it's on you, bud," and the drummer slams it home. Very cool.
l, personally, who have been playing guitar professionally for 42 years and since age 5 have seen scads of awesome players with my rock singer /bandleader father have NEVER ,EVER seen anyone shred an acoustic like that in my life.... that was truly herculean.....'nuff said.....
In my Taylor catalog a decade ago,I now recall acoustic they made that was more than a mere Electric Acoustic...That must be what that is..But Epiphone...Is it the pick ups and strings?That is no standard Acoustic.lol..

My son worked all summer to buy his first Gibson 225 and Marshall DSL 100 with a B cabinet! He's 13! Paid for it himself because that is what he wanted. He loves Jazz the most!

The only thing that's hard for me is the picking, and that was only because I was using thin as fuck picks. Picked up some dunlop tortex 1.14 and picking is a lot easier.

Wow! I Think there was a moment that acoustic was trying to tap out and throw in the towel asking for mercy. Zakk is without question one of the guitar gods. Drummer was killing it and on fire, rest of the band did great too.

+Jorge Papp Honestly, I've played electric guitar for awhile now, longer then I've played acoustic. Acoustic is so much easier for me. The only thing that's hard for me is the picking, and that was only because I was using thin as fuck picks. Picked up some dunlop tortex 1.14 and picking is a lot easier.
I've been sleeping on Zakk Wylde all these years... What a damn fine performance this is!
