Yeah, it makes me wonder if someone talked to him and suggested maybe he dial back on the stupid jokes a bit. Also noticed a big lack of pinch harmonics on Grimmest Hits (I think there was like 2 on the whole album) so maybe he’s chilling out a bit

@@sandysores9381 I highly doubt he cares about whether someone says anything. Im sure it’s depending on his moods. Also, he and Dario are splitting parts now and it seems his pinch harmonics are lesser.

Your ear is your best teacher. Play, play, play, play, and play until it sounds good to your ear. I'll never forget when I got my first electric guitar back in 83 and I was trying to make any semblance of good sound coming out of it and getting nowhere. In frustration, I hit the strings hard and accidently hit an A power chord. It sounded powerful and amazing. Hitting that chord was the start of it all and my ear taught me so many chords that I didn't know the name of until many years later. 38 years later, I am still learning something almost daily. The guitar never stops giving once you start playing it.

I saw this guy at Ozfest in like 2002 maybe. Never heard of him. He is playing an absolutely screaming solo and throws the guitar down. The strings are just ringing out with deafening feedback. He pulls out a six pack of budweiser and slams a beer. He tosses one or two out into the crowd. He slams another. He tosses another one or two out. Guitar is still laying there just screaming. He picks it up and keeps soloing. The most goddamn rock and roll thing i have ever witnessed.

Zakk: " you know? im like *diddly diddly dee" but then I you know *bwow bwooow din deee* but theres *boop bwim bipitty bwwoww*"
I instantly realized that a non player would hear gibberish. lolol He literally speaks with his instrument. Such an enviable gift.

I'm definetely no metalhead, but I really love watching Zakk talk about his guitar playing. Seems like he'd be an awesome teacher.

Not surprised in the least. He's part of a generation of players that Rush were a huge influence on.

I could listen to Zakk play and chat all day. What a huge talent and just amazing person. His whole journey of creating his signature guitars is so awesome. Anyway, thanks for sharing, this made my whole day.

I have always loved and respected Zakk for his playing, humor, and most of all class- he ALWAYS respects those who came before him. He has inspired a whole generation himself (like Richie Faulkner).

Interesting interview; always enlightening to see how professional musicians had to start somewhere and learn the ropes. Wish there were more interviews like this with ZW.

It's so cool to see how songs started making sense when they didn't at first. I love the humility and that we're all learning in the same way.

Always kills me to see a guy like him, that looks like he would have been right at home on an ancient battlefield just mowing people down with a battle axe. And yet so capable of speed, precision, dare I say delicate movements with those big ass hands.
