a couple things I noticed playing Usagi that I don't think you touch on in this breakdown: Usagi can reset his air combo by double jumping and he can do his rising attack in the air.
Fair point, I had recordings on that day of it but completely forgot to include it in the thing. The challenge was to not include "later attacks" in early part of the video. So for example, not showing throw attacks until the shoulder throw segment has been highlighted. Another missed opportunity for me was to to highlight double rising attacks before landing as that could have been easily added as part of Unique Traits for him, I blame Karai's speed boosting mechanic for taking too much time.
All characters can now use thier rising attack while jumping as long as the attack is executed right before the end of your ascent. How ever usagi has the uniuqe ability to do this at any time during a jump. Hes the aerial master. He can reset his ariel combo from a single jump into another aerial combo.
It appears you need to get a single hit to reset the aerial rising attack, or am I mistaken? That said, Usagi has a 3-hit aerial combo and any of those attacks can be interrupted with a rising attack to extend the combo. Still need some more time with him.
_Both are far more technical compared to the regular cast._ Usagi easily de-thrones Mikey and April as the best _anti-air_ combatant. Karai's superpowers can boost her movement speed. _Twice._ It's gonna be soooooooo much fun... I can feel it.
This video is like waking up and realising I am in the matrix. I never realised there was a community going into combos in this much detail. I feel like i have only just scratched the surface of this game.
Since Karai is my most played character, I always noticed that there was a change when I had the purple lighting aura, but I never knew how it worked, thank you for explaining!
Karai has honestly become my favorite character in this game besides Leonardo. Maintaining her speed boost mechanic and being able to throw enemies across the screen like rocks is so satisfying.
Usagi is basically just Leo+Mikey but better in every way. And karai is incredibly unique, and with her speed boosts I can see someone who knows how to use her without getting hit being able to easily dominate the game
Thank You for this! I can't wait for tomorrow when it's released. Karai seems like she might be a bit overpowered, but I have been wanting to play as Usagi for long while now. He definitely fits my play style.
I dunno, karai doesn't seem that overpowered to me. really depends on damage values, but her heavy swing and dive super look like major disadvantages compared to the rest of the crew. what she looks like she's got going for her is her slam throw, 3 hit slide, speed boost, and her other supers, but that depends on damage values. her normal flying attack look unwieldy, could be great because it looks like it penetrates, something mikey really needed, but it also doesn't look like it has a consistent hitbox like everyone else.
@@khaosklub That is true. From what I have gathered, her stats are Range: 2* Speed:2* Power:3*. We will see how accurate that really is, like Casey Jones is 3* range but with certain attacks, not all around. So it might vary with Karai as well. I still want to play as Karai, she might even become one of my favorite characters.
@@RealMrXrow no one's star stats are very accurate at all. they're not that reliable outside of the character's strongest point weakest point. april and mikey are good examples. they are both speedy characters, but april and mikey's attacks almost all have the same properties and damage. the main differences is that mikey has more range on most of his attacks and a faster combo, while april has more powerful supers and a faster first jab. the star values would have you believe mikey has more power and april has more range, which is the reverse of what is actually true.
@@khaosklub That is what I was alluding to with the Casey Jones example. I found all the previous characters enjoyable either way, so I'm sure I'll find these two enjoyable as well. A little over an hour left to find out lol.
I saw your short and damn Raph be going through it in really worried if they fixed Splinter's stuttering when killing multiple enemies but this was an amazing breakdown as always
Usagi will always be my favorite but seeing Karai do not only Dr.Dooms Foot Dive and the Izuna Drop but her own moves from Tournament Fighters is so cool
For those thinking Karai may be too strong, here's another subtle weakness. For panicky or button mashy players, bear in mind, during her dodge super, she does a small hop BEFORE the lightning waves come out. If the super button is pressed again during that small hop, the Dodge super will be CANCELLED, interrupted by a newly registered Ground super, burning 2 meters while only producing 1 attack.
If you had super thanks, I'd donste JUST for showing Karai's actual run itself changes. I despise just apeeding up existing animation. So lazy. But she goes from western running to NINJA running. It's ao dope. Well done highlighting it.
Reading this comment made me activate Super comments. I had a look at memberships (monthly fan club thingy) but held that back for now as I do TH-cam for fun and extra work would be required to post membership exclusive content such as behind the scenes.
Can you do a video about their defensive options? I got carried by an Usagi last night in a way that showed me that I don't understand defense in this at all.
Other characters can use Rising Attack in the air too. It's easier to bind both attack and jump to a single button and use it before the peak of a jump. Usagi has the niche of pulling Rising Attack twice before landing on the ground.
@@Greenalink Okay, I've been playing around with it, but that's only after a neutral jump. Usagi can do it after his air combo. That's what I meant. Bro can full ground combo into his air combo and launch back up into another combo. He's just nice with it.
I certainly hope the new DLC at least addresses the games issue with combat fluidity and special spam as well as the bosses not having any real strategy to them because they gain armor and counter attack before you can finish your normal combo strings. The game was great in all aspects except for the general combat feel. Just never felt smooth and polished.
@@Greenalink aw shucks... Well, that's pretty interesting but also a bummer, I wish they would have added this into the game so players could practice their tech
I like karai has multiple levels of naruto running. Really weird how different they are to normal characters though. The regular cast was made to play almost identical (even more so than normal) with the DLC patch. Wish they designed them more like these. Its why SoR4 is a vastly superior game.

Arigato and well done.

I would love a training mode like this in the game to practice combos

About Usagi ground super, it sent enemies flying which you can follow with aerial combo.
Also i just find out. Karai fling slam will make the robot crabs (forgot its name) flip over.
Karai can repel some projectiles with her dash attack , i am not sure if she can avoid other attacks
Not a big issue, but I notice Karai and Usagi are missing one animation. For some reason you can not see their backs like the other characters.
it kinda sucks that both characters don’t do the sandwich attack that the turtles do but aside from that this is very promising

It will be available to everyone in under 2 hours time from now.

GG Thankyou
Usagi is broken he has two rising attacks chained w/ aerial combos that leave enemies wide open for damage potential.

Does anyone know how to unlock the new characters

I swapped stage 1 files with the training arena files so it's more of a mod.
