Bot civilians would actually be a good idea if they can figure out how to do it without massively impacting performance. Can't wait to see what Squiders and the team at OWI have in store for us
And, if the coalition (be it blue for, red for, or green for or the PAC factions) ends up killing a civie by accident, make them lose 2 tickets. Add a penalty for the recklessness and an incentive for teamwork.
It's just too bad atm, i play with my Squad using Zues mod and it can be really rough if we try to spawn in too many people.
@@Hinokassaudifan1 that would be super dope. And a message like one that pops up when you teamkill someone
Like “you killed a civilian! Watch your fire!” Or something would be awesome
No bot civies please. I think that would create more problems than anything. Not just performance wise, but you'll have teammates who go on a civie k1lling spree.
AI bots on opposing teams until player count reaches a threshold, and a mode where each team has to get through a bot stage would be great.
I think it would actually do a lot to draw in more players to the game as well.
@@black_foresstdoesn't squad use ai generated voices? So they can use it for all the conventional factions.

Would love karma to be a guest on eye in the sky and more colabs
Its the guy!!!
Play more SQUAD karma, you were good at it
My favorite mod for sure
Civilian NPCs that give penalties when killed would be really cool on the bigger maps
why would they give a penalty lol
Just imagine how quickly Hamas vs IDF battles would end

If SQUAD actually gets a pure offline player v bots state with ALL the existing and/new modes and maps, i may finally consider buying this game to play
A reverse invasion mode, counter offensive, would be pretty interesting: The Invasion team immediately attacks a few objectives being defended by bots and a handful of players while the defending team is Main locked to plan a counter attack. Depending on how successful the attacking team is they would then have to defend their newly captured points
there is no difference with that and a normal round of invasion bud
@tubby921 no it's just like aas but you get locked into defense or offense after a certain time.
I feel like it would be good if you fight like normal invasion for 20 minutes and then you flip sides.
With ArmA I was always disappointed with how many people prefer third person. Why even play with 'realistic' scenarios when you're going to be magically looking over obstacles.
Maybe because the 3rd person gives a better fov. But that's just me.
I mean its a sandbox you can do whatever you want and thats the beauty of it.
It’s a sandbox milsim game. There are tons of dedicated milsim servers from WW2, Nam all the way to MW that only use first person.
Third person is just there for people who want to play casually.
So you can see the drip
Third person lets you play with a field of view that more closely resembles real life. Real life FOV is like 180° while in video games you have more like 80-110 looking at a screen.
i agree first person is a way more immersive way of simulating real life its just annoying especially in milsims where you are constantly looking around since your vision is so limited
i dont mind playing realistic missions against bots or things like that in 3rd person but obviously in pvp first person is needed
With this new system coming out, I think the devs gotta come up with a newer roadmap and explain to the users what there plan is instead of just throwing it at us.
Cool mechanic though
The entire issue with the original roadmap is that they couldn't hit every goal of theirs and many people in the community still hold that against them even today. Following through with a roadmap is a tough thing, especially with more technological complex games, and smaller devs teams.
Them giving us a roadmap is just shooting themselves in the foot. Because with how toxic and whiny the Squad community can be, I can already see the comments pissed off if they even miss on one planned content release.
Insurgency style PvE game modes would be awesome in Squad.
Gets boring quick, either the cpu bots are aimbot and unfun, or they are easily exploitable, which also isnt fun.
@@FrankStallone42 Thought i'd feel the same abt antistasi in arma3 but i digress. PVE modes are fun and can be really fun if made correctly.
why not just play insurgency lol. Because everyone knows the squad gunplay isn’t nearly as fun individually as insurgencys
@@xhg7a True, but my thought is they could be a lot more open. The maps are much larger in Squad. So I'm talking a game mode like checkpoint with more players and more AI compared to Insurgency on a much larger map. It probably would only play like Insurgency's checkpoint on a surface level, or at least the way I'm thinking about it.
@@Trve_Kvlt oh I see what ur saying, yeah tbf that does sound diff than insurgency
Squad can never be arma, especially reforger is on another level. I am even sad that arma reforger is not having more people play it, it's an amazing experience and game.
It's popular enough for full games nowadays
Arma Reforger is empty and lack luster. Arma 3 will always be on top.
@@subjectc7505 People have said the same thing about Arma 2
@@ЭдуардПересыпкин because they're good games
Reforger is a tech demo that is helping to fund Arma 4. Expect Arma 4 to get all the players that skipped Reforger.
im an oooolllllddddd Squad head. Project Reality, etc.... Just getting into Reforger and when you find a great server, its as good as the old Project Reality days. I've been having so much fun with it.
I love Reforger. It's picked up so much and still growing
Too bad reforger has the worst servers I've seen since Star citizen.
@@awesome9174 when's the last time you played?
@@ronnytotten9292 maybe 2 months ago
Yeah, old PR fanboy here. Reforger is the only thing that has come close to replicating the original PR experience. It strikes the perfect balance between realistic and accessibly for the purposes of remaining fun. 1,600 hours and counting, and still discovering new stuff to do, particularly with some of the PvE servers that are now running some really good coordinated stuff
dynamic direction really deserves the shoutout and appreciation for what it was trying to do!
It was my favorite time on all my hours playing squad. We really need it back
I'm 20, when project reality was in it's heyday I was too young to partake. I however vividly remember project reality being one of the first games I watched on TH-cam, binge watching bluedrake42 full match videos, and to this day, I remember how captivating it would be to watch insurgency matches. Every match felt like a different story and it's something I personally love about squad, how every match gives you a completely unique experience (mind you I'm a casual player who doesn't play more than a couple matches a week so I don't get too burnt out by the cycle). I honestly would be so happy to see insurgency become a proper game mode in squad. It would add so much and these bots get me really excited with the massive changes we could see to game play in the future
Title is a clickbait it’s nowhere near Arma level.
I have more playtime in Squad than Arma but Squad is just a casual milsim game let’s be real. It won’t ever reach Arma’s level of details in terms of communication, strategic, and combat.
casual and milsim don't really go in the same sentence together
@@connormoorerocks no shit sherlock, but if you are referring Squad as casual, you mistakenly wrong. Sure, it's not as hardcore milsim either but it's far from being casual my guy.
@@connormoorerocks sure it does. Squad caters to the milsim crowd while offering casual mechanics like seeing teammates icons/on map, voip being in a dedicated team channel, a 3D ping system, plenty more. Casual milsim is a good way to put Squad
@@connormoorerocksno it really does. I can pick up HLL and squad casually. Arma is a whole other level. I’m struggling with just the campaigns.
Vanilla Arma is pretty bare bones tho I think the point of this is that allowing modders to do more with the game means it can have the potential to do what Arma does. It's a big if and obviously it isn't there yet.
Squad always felt like a gamemode you could setup in Arma that just capped you to basic assets
Thats what every military game feels like to me. Like a cod death match just feels like the smallest most basic scenario a person could setup.
Can't wait to see weird ass overhaul that will define the next big genre of games for the 2 upcoming decades
CONSOLE...Arma Reforger is the right step in the right direction for MilSim Arma4 2027 on console is next level
Eh milsims don’t really belong on consoles inherently and don’t have a community
Long live the Squid!
This is just clickbait. Mods and AI dont make a game into ArmA.
Zeus mode does 😃
Yeah this video is bullshit. I think the guy doesnt play the same Arma i do.
also the first part of the video is saying Squad's major issue is the lackluster SDK and how it's very hard to work with but somehow adding bots is related to that core issue? Makes no sense.
@@krainex I reckon he plays the roblox variety of arma.
Also Arma 3 is not 21 years old... 😂
One thing squad really needs is dynamic faction layers like every other multiplayer game. Where you place down a "helicopter spawn zone" and whatever faction you select will have its items spawn in. The fact you have to specifically make it each time is nuts.
The problem I have with bots is if I’m sitting in a corner waiting for the enemy’s to push past me so I can get a flank the bot walking by will automatically see me in that bush or In that dark corner laying down. you can basically use the bot as a personal enemy finder.
I've always thought that if Squad got a scenario editor like 3den, it would be all over for Arma.
Maps ar bigger in Arma, better modding, more Vehicles, bots, Custom Kits
just having an in game editor wont make squad an "arma killer"
Squad is the Battlefield i always wanted, hop in - hop out game style
Arma is intensiv and longlasting, Missions that take weeks to finish with more variety in gameplay
i dont think its bad or anything but its just a part of what Arma can offer (i like and play both games)
Imo We just need bots to do the mundane things like watch fobs or stay on caps for AAS. That would make squad more enjoyable for me because im always trying to make sure our fob is secure and defensive points are defended which is pretty mundane. We just need a heads up indicator when the bots are taking contact so that way we can fall back accordingly.
That is a good idea, it would make having a chain of FOBs actually viable. Maybe the quantity or quality of the bots is dependent on the supply in the radio, or you have to build special ai buildings to spawn them
Perhaps if the game and community were actually friendly to veterans who understand the importance of pulling rear security and force pro, it wouldnt be such an issue.
A commander asset for a squad of AI spawning on a selected HAB and moving to defend a desired location would be interesting
We use S44 realism mod and it’s great but for campaigns I think arma 4 will be better. The big thing is the competitivity - PvE is long term more sustainable than PvP just because PvP consistently is a lot more stressful on the players and admins. Lot of drama and stuff.
Now that I’ve passed the 2 minute mark I gotta say, wow, okay then. I hope we get this to support S44 as well. I can definitely see this being awesome if the AI control is good.
@@edelweiss45ai doesnt exist, cpu bots arent ai, that is a complete misnomer. Cpu logic programming is and always has been complete dogwater, dont hold your breath for competent cpu bots.
@@FrankStallone42 ArmA cpu aren’t much better. If I can move their movement and they don’t act braindead when they make contact I can work with it

Hey! Having already done many events with this mod, I can only wait for such an important update, there is so much to do with squad, whether it is at the level of the milsim, such as the competition, vanilla factions, map optimization (and new maps), and mods that are for some revolutionary on the squad scene! Start if it is not yet done to look at the mods bots, rise event, realism mod, one life which are simply top and which also deserve to be highlighted!
I’ve always wanted a game similar to squad where you can go on combat patrols
Being able to play Arma 3 as a single player is the only reason why I have not checked out Squad or Squad 44
Same here
Arma 4 is going to eat Squad alive.
Have you guys tried the new engine in Refoeger?
So smooth, has fantastic graphics and you don't need a high-end pc.
As cool as bots would be, what i always loved about squad is , that everyone is run by players , it made me as one of 50 in my team feel important.
lol been using this mod for squad for about a year now. Good to see it getting recognized. W for Squid!
It would be great to have bots on teams to fill out the numbers. Make it so bots can spawn off habs/ objectives to defend them, or be picked up from main and dropped off at objectives, and you've got an way to turn a 50v50 game into 100v100
Anything that opens up the gaming potential for Squad is a good thing. I definitely would like to see more mode options.
I've done A LOT of stuff with SquidBots Zeus. Once you learn the accuracy and behaviour of the bots, you can create some incredibly intense and fun operations. I hope incorporating the bots into the vanilla game is a good thing and means more resources will be put into them, with more variables added to their behaviour (even small things, like allowing bots to change weapons in a vehicle, so they fire HE on infantry with an IFV instead of AP on everything).
The only way Squad will beat ArmA in general is by introducing customization to MoS loadouts where you can choose how much ammo you can carry along with weapons, Proper Attack Helos that function, and proper Fixed wing Assets that anyone can fly that is not locked to just the Commander. Otherwise ArmA 4 has them beat by the time ArmA 4 comes out, as ArmA Reforger/4 is way more moddable, has customizable kits, and you can deploy any vehicle as long as you have supplies for it in the premiere game mode for Reforger/4, which is Conflict.
I think Squad is trying to make it as close to the real military experience as possible. You cannot choose what to bring into combat in a real infantry unit. 7 mags is a full load out for rifleman, there is only one grenadier and autorifleman on a fire team, not everyone gets to carry a rocket launcher, only team and squad leaders get an acog etc.
Awesome. I think this kind of focus will bring lots of new opportunities for the community to experiment with.
If considerably big amount of players didn't like the simple Infantry Combat Overhaul update, I can't imagine what level of disturbance the "please dont shoot the civilians" update will cause.
Players barely play anything except AAS/RAAS/INV. When they see those hexagons and hidden caches - you just have to do a quick briefing for them in local chat EVERY TIME. And it rarely helps, because people, for example, defend the first hab, while enemy has already placed c4 on the last cache.
as someone who has played arma for many many hours on editor and making random scenarios with the AI, if Squad can actually do this and have almost the best Zeus as Arma, I see this as a big W for sure
Just sick of OWI...
Sick of having to play a game at 40fps, not knowing whether the next update will make it unbearable to play this sh*t.
Sick of top-down "updates" that made the game annoying and, frankly, just infuriating.
Sick of promises and "we heard you"s.
"Game optimization? More fun games? Changes to encourage team work? Better tutorials?"
Naah... f-that.
We need to bring in flashy cosmetic updates that'll bring in the next wave of suckers during the next Steam sale.
Haven't played the game in over 2 months and I don't miss it.
im also sick of OWI, i have a 3060 and im on 55fps IN 1080P!!!
Sounds like your aim is bad. I got used to the ICO in less than a week, it's not a big adjustment unless you play the game like it's Call of Duty. Sounds like that might be more your kind of game.
@@BBBJOT the game generally runs like crap dude it’s not just the gun mechanics. They are the kings of changing things that nobody asked for like TOWs aren’t even working properly… You can’t even see 10 feet in front of you while being suppressed. wtf? When did you start playing squad?
tbh having a 3 way faction war also would be a interesting dynamic. either it be AI or some sort, but it be awesome to see the future of squad.
i liked the bots in seeding right off the bat just to train my recognition of the teams uniforms lol
The fact that MoiDawg still plays with icons blows my mind. How is knowing where your nearest medic is at all times more important that knowing which direction nearby friendlies are actively shooting at?!?! Doritos for the duh.
Mods is what keep games alive for decades. I wish big companies knew that
I would love to see more gamemodes, and more depth added to the existing ones in squad
Had a busy week last week where I loaded up Squad purely to test the Squidbots. It was good fun, similar to when I play Ravenfield and just wanna go mindlessly shooting.
However, it was super refreshing to jump back into REAL Squad servers with real people. Bots were fun to mess around with but there's nothing like actual player firefights, collaboration etc.
I think the bots are sick, but I'm just hoping that Squad maintains it's integrity as a team-based experiences centered around players controlling everything. Wouldn't want it to be too oversaturated with bot servers or whatever haha. Just something for the community to think about.
I was hoping we would be getting server pop size increases. Bots would be neat, but id rather have an extra infantry squad of players on the field.
This is something i've been wishing for a long time. But also, with how great the maps are, how tasty the gunplay is, and how many factions, vehicles and equipment there is, i'd love to have a story mode campaign, with objectives (SP or Co-op). With a realistic approach, just like the Arma campaigns (not like Call of Duty).
Squad has a long way to become Arma, but I remember watching Squids mod and will love AI in squad.
Squad modding is very depressing. I think Devs should really focus on SDK tools, something that would drive the community to make new content for the game. The reason I would still choose Arma over Squad is the modding.
But speaking of AI, adding them into the game is a huge step forward if it let's us do custom PvE missions. I think the game would be more accessible to those who would want play Squad but are scared of PVP matches.
Once I can play SQUAD offline, I will immediately buy it. Yes, I love dumb bots! (Maybe I am dumb too, I don't care)
I've never liked having bots mixed with real players , it makes every kill doubtful if it was a bot or not
With mods, Arma can be Squad, but Squad cannot be Arma and never will.
I want to join a civilian faction so I can be a reporter, but they should also include proximity chat
I'd love to see what can come of this, but I just can't stop feeling that SQUAD is lacking. The gameplay systems should be looked at and see how they can be improved and I think new features could be added. Does anyone else feel something is missing in SQUAD?
I remember playing dynamic direction, as mentioned in this video. It was probably one of the best experiences I've had playing. Everything felt right. Sure it wasn't complete, but, it was sure damn good.
I would love bot civs in general, tbh. The game feels pretty good. Arma is just a tad too janky that I don't like playing with their pop servers. But, Al Basrah with civilians in the city? Ticket or spawn timer consequences for war crimes? That would be intense. No more blind fire missions into an urban area with your mortars. You'll need FOs to call in. Snipers can't just fire at movement. Armor will have to be cautious when flanking, in case civilians are fleeing in their direction and become roadkill. The addition of civilians would heighten gameplay for every kind of player.
Nah, it wont, because it would be a way shittier arma 3. Operation harsh doorstop, on the other hand, could eventually do it because of modding.
i actually will very interest about planes in SQ. i know that map are too small for this type of veh but i really want to see it for some reason
So proud my boy Squiders!
2:21 I specifically remember them saying that they would never add bots or like a local play type thing like how project reality has
i play contractors (pmc mod) and i would usually get like 3 people with me and we would act like it’s a milsim. when free aim vr shoes drop next year ill be buying that and would get more immersed especially since contractors use maps from popular games.
I just really, really want a rework of territory control mode, imagine that but with bots, vehicles, radar installations, SCUDs, AAs and territories that arent dumb hexagons but actual areas of interest like treelines, roads, buildings
Honestly I would enjoy longer matches in squad. I feel like it would make logistics have a lot more impact
Cool! I still want these games
Squiders is a good modder
omg, i know exactly what you mean. my mod is a departure from the vanilla Squad game, and SDK updates and the lack of docs is a real killer. my mod has been in limbo now for about 6 months due to this. i am still working on it, though a single server crashing bug has caused me endless headaches that i have yet to fix. i really hope it can be fixed because i think my mod is enough of a departure from the vanilla that people would have fun playing it.
give us the elevator pitch
my only issue with this is what you said in the beginning: that the SDK is notoriously difficult. the star wars mod is currently down right now because of the SDK, so maybe with this bots update to the SDK things will get better, but i have a feeling that it will only make modding harder
Give us the ability to host private servers with friends and with mods and they’ll have my attention. Idk why modern devs refuse to add simple PVE modes. It’ll bring in more players and more money. Literally that simple. Look at Arma 3 game is like 13-14 years old and people have always played it for PVE
This is huge, cautiously optimistic id say.
I really like the idea of bots being used in conjuction with insurgency or other game modes, however with all of the current performance and optimisation issues in squad already, I am not super excited for another coal on the furnace of my PC when im already struggling to get above 45-50fps with a solid PC build with 100 players.
Arma 3 is clunky and run like ass.
BUT...Arma Reforger already has all this, is way more streamlined than Arma 3, and runs better than Squad and in my opinion has better graphics (although Squad has better sound effects and explosion/smoke/particle graphics). Squad waited too long and it will be much harder to pull players away from the latest Arma.
What's ironic is Conflict was kind of Bohemia's way of taking ideas from Squad to make a more focused PVP mode with logistics. Now Squad is taking ideas from Arma's PVE and Zeus.
Healthy competition is good for customers and imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess.
Yea Squads sound effects are top tier.
I wish Dynamic Direction was still playable. It was only mod that bothered to change up the game mode. Had to really play it differently.
Last I checked Arma had realistic firing guns that don't teleport into your face.
We need this in Squad!
I LOVE ARMA, I LOVE PLAYING MILSIM AT 5 FPS
Reforger is simplifying to sell on console. Squad would explode if we got arma 2/3 style modding to fill the arma void. All squad is missing compared to arma 3 now is jets, larger maps and some sort of simple inventory.
All we need is better performance and simplify the leader roll, no good squadleader = watching the battle from the map
A Squad-based DayZ type of mod could genuinely be massive. I've been playing DayZ since it was a mod for Arma 2 and have tried to get friends into DayZ standalone over and over and they all said the gameplay just feels way too clunky to be enjoyable, which is completely understandable, the Arma/DayZ engines are incredibly outdated and don't really hold up to modern standards of movement/shooting. Squad could bridge that gap easily and attract people who want to play an open world survival shooter but can't stand the clunky controls of DayZ.
Reforger will be top one day.
I did try the bot mods for squad, but I just found them too inflexible for me as a casual
But OWI did a good thing moving this way, I'm quite excited
At the minimum I think they coudl do some cool things similar to the old DF:BHD
(with bots... maybe we will get Squad Zombies with PVE, I'd actually really enjoy a bitesized DayZ in squad)
my PC is torqued just watching this video. no thanks just downloaded arma3 itself again
Lots of potential for mods and custom games
Unless OWI devs go to Greece and get themselves locked up for "spying on airbases", I don't think they can claim that just yet.
But hey, Sakhalin is nice this time of year, that's the site of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, could be a nice place to scout for some map design ideas? It's not exactly mainland Russia, so you can actually go there from Japan, come on Squidders? I assume Medix is there with you too?
Obviosly you never herad of project reality, ppl who whinning about bot being brought to squad never heard nor play project reality. New gen
For this to work, maps need to be bigger which may pose an issue.
We need more “squad play” in squad. The rogue squads or armor that continue to do their own thing and not play objectives is ruining the game.
I just dont see it happening for Squad. Its grown a very tourny focused audience which has pushed OWI away from its roots. I think the best option would be just to ignore players crying it will "split the community" and realize its what will grow the game and keep it alive. Squads been in a rut though, its just so tedious and repetitive. OWI has to do something but I just dont see them actually doing it. The INS game mode overhaul was promised on a roadmap thats what? About six years old now. Players seem to like having a single tourny style meta clashing with a game that has realistic looks but no realistic depth. Basically I dont think they want the type of tactically challenging experience Arma offers. Theyd rather hold the game back than embrace change due to Squad hierarchal community nature. Egos swell and if things change those egos burst as everyone is relearning.
I can assure you, after having just crossed over from Squad to ARMA (check my content of both games if you ever get the time), its the other way around
I encourage everyone to comment "Stop releasing new content. Fix the game." To every single thing OWI does. I can't stand that we keep getting "new" stuff when the game is barely functional. The SDK being a broken mess being a prime example.
when i wanna play a "mil sim" i go to russia and operate a drone for a few hours. always fun.
We better be getting an editor so we can spawn AI and have them fight each other and shit
I would love to see insurgency come back. Some of my all time gaming moment memories are from PR insurgency games.
Now I was interested in Squad because there actually are no bots... here we go... lol
Great for weapons testing and training
A performance optimization patch would be awesome
i got a lil rush of adrenaline since this video came out after my message on the discord
I'd just like it if they fixed the audio bug and spawn timer bugs that have been around for a year or more now
If conventional forces have to PID NPC friendly militia groups like in the Middle East and unconventionals to PID friendly or foe NPC militia that's make cool matches.
Nah Arma has been dead to me since 2018-2019
Also modding squad is very easy to install, but modders do have a difficult time updating them.
Also the most popular mod is as you mentioned Galactic contention, and is actually fundamentally different on how the teams have to work, and also droids don't get revive but have unlimited stamina. There are also some other differences, from the original squad game in that mod.
I dropped Arma since 2019, and the reason why is, because how difficult it was to install mods, and also the UI being very basic and old.
Great video still keep up the great work!!!
Hola hermanos latinoamericanos, espero que la comunidad de squad siga creciendo

8:25 Actually there is a "SquadZ" server I occasionally see on my server list. I never really joined in and checked it out, (because its always empty) but it does seem like an interesting concept. If I see it pop up again, I will definitely check it out.
Some competence is always good
"Squad is impossible to mod due to poor SDK"
"This about to change: Squidbots!"
