I am Australian and seen Jimmy in Cold Chisel and as a solo artist also with his brother and brother - in law, his son and all of the Australian royalty of rock. As an American I thought you would like the link I just posted with Joe Bonamassa an American blues virtuoso guitarist
yeah, I dunno...it was okay, but I thought he was well past his best by then. if i was looking for music that showcased his talent and power, that wouldn't be it
This is a MASSIVE rabbit hole you've found, he is regarded as one the best vocalist in the world by his peers, so much power. Highly highly recommend his stuff from his Cold Chisel days, Live is better for the most part. Cold Chisel - Bow River [Ringside tour] to get you started ;)
Came here because of your cold chisel reaction. The guy playing guitar here is Diesel & well worth checking out what his tonsils are capable of. Diesel & Jimmy are brother in laws, their wives are sisters. Diesel appears on all Jimmy’s solo stuff & it’s a duo made in heaven. Always choose a live performance with Australian music if you want some goosebump performances. 🤙🏽
Jimmy Barnes - total rocker since the late 70's - An Aussie legend - also an awesome soulful singer - in his mid sixties and still putting out music and touring
Big Barnsey, and his original band Cold Chisel. If you want to hear Barnsey at his best, go listen to John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby". Jimmy's brother in law "Diesel" is the guitarist in this performance. 3 of the greatest Aussie voices ever. Go down the Cold Chisel hole if you wanna hear raw, true Aussie music. Flame tree, Khe Sanh, Red Wine, Lay down Your Guns, and the list goes on. Enjoy 🇦🇺
This is the most UN-Jimmy Barnes song ever, but does show some of his vocal range. Dive deeper with him and his band Cold Chisel, his Soul Deep album and his solo career. Amazing.
If you like this you will flip over he and John Farnham doing "when something is wrong with my baby" (live is better) He has so many great songs and with his band Cold Chisel as well. A great place to start as well are the ones below. "lets make it last all night" "lay down your guns" "Khe Sahn" But honestly nearly everything of his is powerful, I feel those songs above will give you the best chance of getting to know Jimmy and his passion. He does alot with John Farnham, same era and both Australian Icons, ironically both were not born in Australia. His live stuff is the best i feel, i have seen him live a few times and he gives you chills, alot like John Farnham he sounds better and more powerful live.
Jimmy Barnes is an Australian legend. While he has sung his share of rock, he identifies as a soul singer and oh boy does he have soul!! This isn’t the best showcase of his voice- he filled in for SIA and was also very emotional as this song hits home for Jimmy who beat a very long term addiction to alcohol and drugs. I’d recommend Soothe Me with Sam Moore or Stone Cold. He’s just finished his soul 30 tour, he’s been going strong since the late ‘70s.
Dr, you said just about everything I was going to say. Yes, Jimmy & Joe Bonamassa doing Stone Cold - but as u only too well know, even Christmas Carols. And, all The Barnes Family singers and musicians 👍
Have loved Jimmy since my teens in the 80's. Discovered him, and because of him, discovered Cold Chisel. Legend. I'd add so many collaborations, including his with Tina Turner with the song Simply the Best. I also discovered our Aussie band Stars due to his performance with others at the Andy Durant memorial concert from 1980. He performed with some of his own Cold Chisel band, the remaining Stars band from which Andy was a member before his passing from melanoma. Others there that I know of were Renee Geyer, Richard Clapton and Broderick Smith. Great cover of Bob Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's Door. I must have listened to this collaboration thousands of times now. Fabulous!!!!
Australia has so many amazing singers that unfortunately never seem to get air time in the US. Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham are legends but since you’re already discovering them I’ll sunset a couple of others. Delta Goodrum - Heavy and Guy Sebastian - Battle Scars. I’m so happy you’re enjoying our Aussie talent 😊
If you want to see him at his highest, watch his live song: When The War Is Over (Ringside Tour). For his most gentle watch: Fire and Rain, with Marcia Hines. Oh and the middle girl in the backup singers is also Jimmy's daughter, singing runs through the entire family. His son also is magic. Sia is also a fantastic song writer and singer, but has severe anxiety issues and is incredibly shy when performing.
Jimmy was the lead singer of the Australian Pub Rock Band Cold Chisel in the 1970’s & 80’s. He would go through a bottle of Vodka on stage. The man can sing. Hope you check out some early stuff. Has an awesome blues album called Soul Deep that’s worth a listen too.
If you start reacting more to Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham you are going get heaps of subscribers the first you should is both of them singing When Something is Wrong with my Baby from Hey Hey it's Saturday it's a live performance from a variety show and it phenomenal. 👍😁
I've been waiting for you to react to Jimmy Barnes especially since you reacted to John Farnham. Check out When something is wrong with my baby Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham, make shore you choose a live performance.
For the 2 best voices going round..JIMMY BARNES & JOHN FARNHAM. Catch them doing 'When something is wrong with my baby' LIVE. ... & with that same guitarist DIESEL,from this clip. . Jimmy's bro in-law.
Jimmy is a great singer. Working class man is a classic beloved Aussie anthem I made a mistake about his original group. Don't know why considering how much I love the guy
This is great. Now you have reacted to my 2 favourite artists. So would be awesome if you could react to them both together and get a better look at what jimmy can actually do with his voice. Check our John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes singing when something is wrong with my baby...these 2 are dynamite together
Jimmy Barnes is an Australian legend who fronted Cold Chisel a band many of us consider better than AC/DC. Powerhouse performances Bow River, When The War Is Over and Wild Thing are a must. They broke up in 1983 and Jimmy went on to have a successful solo career still up until now, collaborating with several overseas artists, but l particularly like his performances with Joe Bonamassa on Stone Cold and Walking Up The Road which he sings with his daughter Mahalia Barnes.
Wow Something else from Jimmy. Working Class Man or When something is wrong with my baby, Water wash all over me. Or when he was the lead singer of Cold Chisle my favourites are; Flame Trees, When the War is over, 4 Walls, or Bow River, Kay Sanh, Cheep Wine, Turn this Water into Wine and so many more.
There are so many songs to chose from. Maybe start with Cold Chisel and go from there. I love "Misfits", by Cold Chisel and I'm almost certain it's never been reacted to. Then check out "Waiting for the heartache". Just to get you started. You'll see why he has legendary status in Australia. Thanks for your reaction. Cheers!
🗣 Welcome to the Power Belts of AKA - Barnsy and his extended family band ! Thats Very Tame Considering what he normally sings regarding his range of Vocals 🤘
John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes have been collating together for decades and have toured together. But please check out there song together "Something is wrong with my baby". Please and thank you.
If you listen to Jimmy in the early days with Cold Chisel he actually has a very powerful, clean voice. But as he has gone on in his career he has leaned into his rough belt, and that has become his signature sound.
An interesting choice of song for your first Jimmy Barnes song. The bloke on the guitar is Johnny Diesel, another Aussie music legend and Jimmy's brother inlaw.
@@user-oi9to7ux7k He did it because Sia was caught in Adelaide unable to attend this appearance and he stepped in at the last minute with his brother in law Diesel and his daughter middle singer.
Just a little tip, Jimmy doesn’t touch anything he knows he can’t make his own and yes he can do any genre. Our Jimmy is a National Treasure. You see the mistake other places make is this, we look like this little Island that looks like it going to roll off the Globe. When in fact we have the best music in the world and I’m so glad you enjoyed it.🇦🇺👍
You’ll like “Stone Cold” with Jimmy Barnes, vocal and Joe Bonamassa, guitar. Also give an ear to “When somethings’s wrong with my baby” Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham duet (DYNAMITE!)
Amazing you have never heard of Jimmy, your reaction at 3.25 is pretty much how everyone feels when lets go :-)) try freight train heart album, probably his best
This is not his usual style. Jimmy's a rock legend, but has done a bit of soul too, check out simply the best with Tina turner, his collaboration with inxs, and when something is wrong with my baby.
Great reaction but I’m a little surprised that you haven’t reacted to jimmy again. You really don’t know what you’re missing. I’ll check back now and then
Did you ever see the movie GUNG HO made by Ron Howard in 1986? The theme song was WORKING CLASS MAN and it is Jimmy's signature tune. He was Australia's King of Rock and John Farnham in the day was the King of Pop!!! Here is the song sung by Jimmy WORKING CLASS MAN: th-cam.com/video/erSJGrpfnOI/w-d-xo.html
He does have great vocals. I have suggest many great artists and groups, but you haven't reacted to any of them, not even when you specifically asked us to suggest new artists. I have been suggesting some of them since you had only about 30K subscribers. I can only assume that you have something against me.
Dude... you probably picked the worst intro to Jimmy. Stone cold with Joe bonemassa or even better if you want an intro to Aussie rock legends with two giants and one top notch vocalist go Somethings wrong with my baby with Jimmy, Farnsey and Diesel probably the release video would be best but the live version is pretty good also. But man you have so much to uncover with Australian music story telling music, soft rock, hard rock, then there is Matt Corby and Guy Sebastian those guys are ridiculous. Then throw in the ladies such as Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy etc. Then skip across the ditch to the Kiwi's with Crowded House which had one of their songs covered by some famous chick's in the USA. Damn man so much to look into and you had to start with this 🤣
Jimmy Barnes was lead singer of cold chisel one of my favorites. Ian moss on guitar had a great voice & solo career as well , Love Cold Chisel - "Bow River" th-cam.com/video/TdVRNDnTKTU/w-d-xo.html & breakfast at sweethearts th-cam.com/video/45pGlE2W_ts/w-d-xo.html check them out !!! my baby is good to
Not that there's anything wrong with this but it's not even close to his best . Any other song he does is better whether as front man for COLD CHISEL(rock)or as a soloist (blues). You won't be disappointed.
Country? Elton John? hahaha... you have to watch some of his earlier Cold Chisel stuff. Much better than this....They were what we call a pub band and honed their skills in hotels. He is a lot older in this one.
I’m late but did you have any other Barnes reviews? Your catalogue is too large to tell. I hope you did. This song doesn’t suit Barnes tho I’m sure he liked the song. He’s a great singer and nearly all song work well for him.
As an Australian, it's so funny to think of never having heard of Jimmy Barnes!

The man playing the guitar needs your attention as well, a star in his own right,Mark Lizotte or Johnny Diesel. Many hits in Australia.
One of the best male singers to me.
Sia dropped out last minute & Jimmy was like yeah, nah, I'll give it a go with only a couple of days to practise.
Wow Something else from Jimmy. Working Class Man or When something is wrong with my baby, Water wash all over me. They had very little time to prepare for this as Sia was supposed to be doing it that night but had to cancel.....
So, as a singer, I'm guessing you might be keen to do The Little River Band at some stage... #harmonies
You need to check out John Farnham (always do his live performances he is better live) ❤
If you want to listen to a great soulful song by Jimmy Barnes, listen to "Stone Cold"
I'd love to hear your thoughts on it
