The Living End is an Australian punk rockabilly band from Melbourne, formed in 1994. Since 2002, the line-up consists of Chris Cheney (vocals, guitar), Scott Owen (double bass, vocals), and Andy Strachan (drums). The band rose to fame in 1997 after the release of their EP Second Solution / Prisoner of Society, which peaked at No. 4 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart. They have released eight studio albums, two of which reached the No. 1 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart: The Living End (October 1998) and State of Emergency (February 2006). They have also achieved chart success in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
The Band was nominated 27 times and won five awards at the Australian ARIA Music Awards ceremonies: "Highest Selling Single" for Second Solution / Prisoner of Society (1998), "Breakthrough Artist - Album" and "Best Group" for The Living End (1999), as well as "Best Rock Album" for White Noise (2008) and The Ending Is Just the Beginning Repeating (2011). In October 2010, their debut album was listed in the book "100 Best Australian Albums". Peace out.

Lay Down Your Guns was first released by Jimmy Barnes in 1990. The Living End were a popular Australian rock/rockabilly punk band formed in 1994.
In May this year (2023) Jimmy started a rockabilly supergroup with the guitarist from the Living End (Chris Cheney), Drummer from Stray Cats (Slim Jim Phantom), Thomas Lorioux on upright bass, Kevin "caveman" Shirley on Bass, and Jools Holland on piano.

Wow this brought back some great memories - saw The Living End many times at various festivals and gigs throughout the late ‘90’s/early 00’s, great live band! In their younger days, Scott would use his bass as a stage prop and perch on it while spinning it round furiously AND playing it.. not once did I see him fall! Very impressive 😂👍🏻

Good morning Mr. Cheezy. Loved the old school groovy style of both of them. Very Rockabilly/Punkabilly/Funkabilly? Kind of a blend of all. First time hearing these guys.

They are all in the same studio…. The studio is actually Jimmy Barnes’ house.

The "Lay Down Your Guns" track was recorded in 2014 as part of Jimmy's 30:30 Hindsight album which was a 30 year celebration of Jimmy's career as a single artist after leaving Cold Chisel. Most of the songs were re-recordings of his earlier hits. There is a 1991 version of the original song on TH-cam.
Another song off the album is "Stone Cold" with Joe Bonamassa which is very popular with many reactors. It is interesting to compare it with his earlier (1993) much more acoustic version, which was written by Cold Chisel keyboardist Don Walker and Ian Moss played the guitar.
I think Jimmy is currently touring with The Living End as his backing band - The Barnestormers. There is an interview with TLA guitarist Chris Cheney and Jimmy discussing it about the time when Tina Turner passed away where they asked Jimmy what it was like to sing with her - FYI th-cam.com/video/QmOPUrtk5wE/w-d-xo.html.

Never noticed that the bass amps were layed out sideways.
    Very smart.

15:02 This was a virtual concert that they did over COVID lockdowns where there was no physical crowd

This was filmed in 2020 when there were Covid lockdowns. Live, Loud & Local kept the spirit of the Aussie pub alive by championing venues around the country, showcasing homegrown music acts.

The original recording of Lay Down Your Guns features Brian Setzer on guitar. Brian was and still is a huge influence on Chris Cheney - lead guitarist of The Living End.

The Living End were one of the most popular bands when I was in high school in the 90s, along with Powderfinger & Silverchair.
Check out their anthem “Prisoner of Society” & “All Torn Down” for more.
    Great live band.

I'd recommend 'End of the World' or 'All Torn Down' from that particular set by The Living End (Live, Loud & Local 2020)

That's Jimmy's home recording studio. The Living End were a great band, not one of my favourites but still worth listening to, they always gave me an Offspring kind of vibe. Their biggest hit was probably Prisoner of Society,

@@MariaBM1 correct. Chris Cheney (singer/guitarist) of The Living End is part of the Barnestormers with Jimmy Barnes.

Yes, The Living End is a amazing band . Their album's and Ep's are top notch. I personally think their best work is everything up to and including the album, Pictures InThe Mirror. I personally like the more Rockabilly flavored song's. Chris Cheney is agreat guitarist. Very entertaining player. They all are for that matter.
