What I mean is, I think your input is more than enough. It makes the video more concise and direct to the point. mcavoy is one of the most underrated actors currently working, imo. he is absolutely incredible in everything i've seen him in. his portrayal of morpheus in the sandman audiobook is legitimately one of my favorite comic book character adaptations ever conceived. he's so talented and passionate about his roles. fassbender, i havent seen much else of his work, but he was incredible as magneto. i would love to see him back as well. afaik, mcavoy is open to returning, but i'm not sure abt fassbender. i really hope he does consider it bc their dynamic and chemistry was the best part of those films
This movie might be a great way for marvel to test if some actors are well perceived in a certain role. For example the rumored cameo of Daniel Ratcliffe as Wolverine or Channing Tatum as Gambit.

Deadpool is the bridge between different universes. It could have been a sick miniseries, almost like the show Futureman but with marvel characters. Then, after the series ends, Deadpool III.
It's the only MCU movie coming out this year... When companies like this are reliant on movies coming out for content, they're forced to make a ton of videos on it to keep making their videos
I think James McAvoy would come back, I even think that's the back of his head in the trailer wearing the green coveralls from the cartoon. Also, if Beast is a CGI character and Kelsey Grammer just needs to provide the voice, he'd probably do it.
This will be the first marvel movie I will see in theaters in quite a long while. It's the most important marvel movie since endgame and I believe it could save the MCU going forward.

I truly believe that Deadpool & Wolverine being the only film Marvel is putting out this year is a good thing. Not only is it the most hyped-up film Marvel has done since Spider-Man No Way Home, but it's Marvel's chance to put the superhero fatigue chants to the test. Deadpool & Wolverine can easily be the most successful film of 2024, and assuming it hits all the marks then audiences will be chanting more of Marvel content. Marvel could rest easy knowing that if Deadpool & Wolverine is successful, they would've earned their spots back in fans good graces after lack-luster series and some flop films. Since 2025 is a big year for Marvel, earning trust back in 2024 is an absolute must.
But the writing and movie-making by/on other titles would be done by the same people or process that brought us these dark times in MCU. But I hope this will brought change... Please earn big madafakin bucks and remind the suits of their greed 😅
You hit the nail on the head. Characters being relatable is huge in making the viewers care whether they live or die. So if you combine the multiverse with unrelatable characters the question becomes; What are the stakes and why do we care?
The best way to make a recap of the Disney+ shows, maybe can be making a movie using those characters and scenarios like the background of a Villian film of DOOM. Walking all around those productions. DOOM has a big training and a lot of motivations to be the way he is to be the big baddy that could be. Would be amazing to see a scene of the after credit with consequence in the middle of a film. Imagine Doom capturing Wong while they are in the karaoke singing with Chang Chi, etc... Its quite a fun playground , Marvel writers and director should start having fun with all they got !
Wow, this commentary makes some valid points, that I didn't fully consider when I saw the movie Friday morning. It definitely does offer new interests in our past fond nostalgia of the MCU. The recent MCU series and movies have stretched to convoluted lengths. I agree with the that aspect that instead of fans feeling excited to see the next project "I HAVE to see this project because I WANT to! " it began to feel like homework " I have to see this because I HAVE to, to obtain knowledge REQUIRED for the next project". Now, Deadpool & Wolverine provide us an Excitement to see what happens next because we are intrigued to. Well, at least quite a few of us are... 😉
I too liked Eternals, She-Hulk & even Quantumania. I just hope they do this right. Don’t overdue the 4th wall breaking & don’t go too far into nostalgia. They could destroy the bad versions of characters like it seems they’re going to do with the OG Sabertooth in favor of the Leib Shriver(spelling?) version for example.
Haven't watched the video yet just throwing out my not thought out theory: When deadpool said I'm the marvel Jesus, maybe he will die for "our sins" (them dropping the ball of the mcu) and the rebirth is him saving the mcu and being "reborn" in the new mainline mcu universe. Whilst others branches still exist just aren't the focus that we are watching.
I feel we can see Ryan Reynolds reallllly going all out with this film as it relates to fan expectations in previous projects. Even as far as a Tom Cruise feature as Iron Man and a Mephisto appearance. Everything’s. On. The. Table.
15:29 I acc like how the MCU has been bringing back old Sony & Fox versions of characters thru the multiverse (i.e. Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire's Spider-Men, The Sinister Six, Professor X, Wolverine, etc) to do justice to the characters & give them the send off they deserve. Characters like Prof X & Wolverine are obviously gonna be recast, but I don't know if Marvel would've planned to introduce new versions of characters like Doctor Octopus & Green Goblin tbh, so it's nice to see the original versions return. I also like how the MCU's been using the Multiverse to give us cameos of fancast actors playing variants, i.e. John Krasinski as Mr Fantastic in DS:MOM. Taron Egerton & Channing Tatum are also rumoured to appear in DP3 as Wolverine & Gambit variants.
for me it was never the quantity, but quality. i am a TV HEAD and have always been. i'm always on the edge of my seat ready to watch another movie or show, but lately everything has been about checking off boxes for the MCU and i was starting to be over it... until that Deadpool trailer. cant wait
When i heard the fox characters and multiverse in general were going to be part of the mcu, first thing i thought of was "deadpool has got to be first." Not because of Reynolds, the fact i like him, or the characters popularity, which all factors do help, but because he's the smart choice. Because he already time hopped and is the closest comedically (ignoring the raunchy humor) to the mcu, in addition to the 4th wall being virtually non-existent with him, he can act as the needle to sew both franchises together.
Maybe when Vanessa says "Make a wish, bud" what is actually happening is Wolverive is breaking Wade like a wishbone, and Logan is actually saying, "Make a wish, bub!"
As much as I enjoyed She-Hulk, I had a few issues with it. But I was actually relieved by the whole K.E.V.I.N. thing. I had the *exact same complaints* that Jen had, and the whole scene had me yelling THANK YOU at my screen! Yes, it could have been executed smoother, but I really, really hated where the dumb, predictable, overused villain plot was going up to that point.
Recast all the xmen outside of Hugh Jackman. Those movies were predominantly horrible and the actors were a part of the reason. Personally, i think Deadpool can be used to patch things up, but there’s a limit. He needs to be used to combine the characters from the various universes, but beyond that - the larger story must be good. The characters must be good. The cross overs have to be built up. You can’t just spam nostalgia and hope for the best. See: WWE bringing back The Rock.

This is a great video. The Deadpool movie is the only one that can fix the problems AS THE STORY. Marvel movies are very similar to the wrestling business. Right now you've lost the fans that watch no matter what, and you've lost the fans that only tune in to see a star. This is the one chance to get everybody back. It'll be difficult to do it on just one movie, but he's the only one that can do it.
Seems like they’re playing the long game. They will bring back all of the legacy versions of these characters before secret wars allows them to reset and re-cast everybody including the main line avengers like Thor and Iron Man.

Nah I think you're pretty much on point of what I feel about the MCU now. Everything feels like a drag and all the introduction of new characters are just uninteresting. Deadpool is important because hes a very popular character. Once we get Xmen and Fantastic 4 with great writing, it will be back on its feet like the Infinity Saga.
Ryan Reynolds is a creative person, an artist. 3 main movies was kind of stretching it for him. If he survives this movie, maybe cameos. But he's not going to be the Iron Man of the MCU. Spiderman was being set up as our new Tony. In far from home, Happy basically said Peter reminded him of Tony. Stark just wanted to be better than his father, while Peter wants to be at least as good as Tony. That's not happening now due to Sony having ownership of the spiderman license, that they will never let go of.
EVERYONE can be re-cast. These are iconic characters with massive libraries and should not be killed off by actors contracts or even the passing of the actors.
It probably wouldn’t happen, but I think it would be hilarious if the movie starts with a re-casted Wade/Deadpool because of the acquisition. Then Ryan Reynolds cuts in and talks to K.E.V.I.N. to change things because She-Hulk did. I liked that bit in She-Hulk 🤷♂️
The key to Deadpool is that he is a person who has more or less ascended into being a cosmic trickster entity who still thinks of himself as a person and acts like a person, retains his tethers to his human life and generally approaches what a different person would consider becoming a god as just another weird messed up thing that happened to him not particularly unlike any other weird messed up thing that has happened in his life. I personally would think it would be kind of genius to tap into all of the other commentary on gods-as-people the MCU has been playing with in phase 4 - and I suspect that might be where they were going with the "I'm Marvel Jesus" scene from the trailer. Essentially avoiding the She-Hulk route of being overly literal but directly tying Deadpool's fourth wall breaking into the core plot and inciting action of the film. I could see the TVA knowing that Deadpool is special and has special abilities, but they don't understand what exactly it is that makes him special and moreover they are completely *incapable* of understanding what it is - even if he does bother to earnestly try to explain it to them. They just understand that Deadpool is some kind of god - not particularly unlike anyone they know of from the various pantheons or cosmic entities that know exist but don't really understand. Perhaps they will initially see Deadpool seeing himself as just some dude trying to have as normal a weird life as possible as a weakness they think they can exploit, but then they will come to realize they have made a terrible mistake.
Deadpool does have the overall qualities to be the new MCU's franchise player. Also I agree with the She Hulk series finale was really trying hard to show us that she can break the 4th wall and that's what ruined the finale. It was a mid or below mid series.
What if we have another Multiverse of Madness situation here, everybody is hyped, and things that the movie will be great and stuff then it flops or doesn't reach the expectations, I prefer to think that it will be shitty from now on tbh.
here's my thing, they havea lot of comics titles and SO many to follow but simply because we are blessed witha connected universe, doesn't mean you have to follow all of it. Do a lot of them tie into each other sure but not so much they aren't stand-alone worthy to pick one and stick with if it's your bag. Homework if you must but it's not ever required, I always just followed one title or two, but these movies made me enjoy characters I thought were boring in the funnies, it should be allowed to be the same the other way around? It is different media, but some things lend themselves much better to certain platforms...
It’s pretty insane to consider how much power Reynolds & Co has got over Disney right now. I do think most of the “drama” right now is a play for the masses, it feels like a Reynolds way of marketing it as “sticking it to the man”

I just don't see how they can revolve the MCU around Deadpool. This is coming from a long time comic fan that prefers the theatrical Deadpool over the comic verision. IMO it's more Ryan Reynolds than the character itself. He owned that character and I doubt anyone else in that role would've garnered as much success for Deadpool than him. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards is possibly our greatest shot at RDJ/Chris Evans cohesiveness that the MCU desperately needs. The closest we got to that currently is Cumberpatch and Holland, and Spiderman is unfortunately shackled to Sony. If Pedro aces this role and they get Cillian Murphy as Doom.....well problem solved.

It's funny, because this is probably my favourite YT channel but, while you're fed up of complaining about the MCU, I am fed up of complaining about you complaining. The thing is, it is not just that I disagree with you, because in many cases, I don't. I am just sick of this revisionist history that has made its way into the general MCU conversation. The MCU has never, ever been universally loved, but people like to talk now as if everything in Phase 1-3 was perfection (although I am sure they will still whine about Captain Marvel) and that is not only completely untrue, it is also completely wrong in terms of how a lot of fans reacted to things like Thor 2, Iron Man 2 & 3 or the The Incredible Hulk. Sure, none of those phases had comparable TV shows and certainly did not have the unfortunate pressure of an idiot CEO who demanded more and more content. But is that actually fair on everything post End Game? It's also not the fault of anything that has happened since then that Chadwick Boseman died or that Covid happened. The single biggest problem with the MCU is that their fan base has basically turned into the Star Wars fan base; and that fan base has always been - and always will be - the single biggest problem with Star Wars. In my recommended videos next to this video, which has a title about Deadpool saving the MCU, I have at least three other videos with essentially the same title. It's garbage. It's complete and utter garbage. The MCU could - and absolutely should - make some improvements. But my god, it does not need SAVING, and seeing the same tired rhetoric being drummed out over and again by channels that frankly, should know better, is... well, to be polite, it's a little irksome, y'know? As for the breakdown shows - Ryan, come on, 'What If...?' was put on over Christmas week. I cannot be the only one of your 1.54m subscribers that was kind of busy that week! Obviously you covered the point about Echo but I did actually make the effort to watch your breakdown show after each episode, as I was unable to watch it for the first couple of days. Because, y'know, despite this essay, I love this channel! Yes, I do want quality over quantity. Yes, I am delighted that the Daredevil show got rewritten and that Foggy & Karen are in it (and they had better not die!), and that the MCU has pumped the brakes on for its releases, and yes I have complaints about various stories. But lots of us loved Hawkeye, and She-Hulk, heck even Black Widow, but they all get spoken about like they are universally hated. Which is, quite frankly as untrue as it is to say that phases 1-3 of the MCU are perfection. Anyway, I doubt anyone will read this but I feel a bit better now. I do not agree the problem is that Marvel was pushing out too much content. I am perfectly happy to juggle movies and TV shows… if they are good… some of these movies and shows are not good and/or have un likeable characters and preachy storylines or just bad storylines and/or pacing.
For what it's worth, I don't think the problem was that there was too much Marvel content, I think there was too much Marvel content that nobody cared about. I mean, really? We need a whole movie about Antman and The Wasp? No, we didn't. Nick Fury is a good supporting character, but hasn't been a leading role since the 1950s. The Eternals found an audience, but a much smaller audience than Disney was hoping for -- because they didn't bother to notice that The Eternals are not a banner title. I'd say that Guardians of the Galaxy was a fluk that came together and found a great audience at just the right time - but if those movies had seen theatres a year later than they did, it probably would have fallen prey to the same problems those aforementioned titles did. The same thing sort of happened to Disney+; the first four shows (Wandavision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and Loki) caught the excitement and fever of the moment just like United States of Tara, Big Love, Weeds and True Blood did for Showtime and HBO did in the 2000s, but interest in those networks waned when those shows wrpped and new shows did not have the same interest. The grim truth is that not every Marvel property is golden; the smaller characters are not going to draw big numbers every time, so it would be wise to get some of those larger characters rolling, if Disney wants to maintain the position they're holding right now.
Deadpool is aware of both our universe and the DC universe. It would be absolute perfection if he just randomly popped into our world to kidnap John Cena to the MCU claiming that there are Copyright issues over Peacemaker, but the fans are gonna love it.

You hit the nail on the head. Characters being relatable is huge in making the viewers care whether they live or die. So if you combine the multiverse with unrelatable characters the question becomes; What are the stakes and why do we care?

The best way to make a recap of the Disney+ shows, maybe can be making a movie using those characters and scenarios like the background of a Villian film of DOOM. Walking all around those productions. DOOM has a big training and a lot of motivations to be the way he is to be the big baddy that could be. Would be amazing to see a scene of the after credit with consequence in the middle of a film. Imagine Doom capturing Wong while they are in the karaoke singing with Chang Chi, etc... Its quite a fun playground , Marvel writers and director should start having fun with all they got !
Wow, this commentary makes some valid points, that I didn't fully consider when I saw the movie Friday morning. It definitely does offer new interests in our past fond nostalgia of the MCU. The recent MCU series and movies have stretched to convoluted lengths. I agree with the that aspect that instead of fans feeling excited to see the next project "I HAVE to see this project because I WANT to! " it began to feel like homework " I have to see this because I HAVE to, to obtain knowledge REQUIRED for the next project". Now, Deadpool & Wolverine provide us an Excitement to see what happens next because we are intrigued to. Well, at least quite a few of us are... 😉

I too liked Eternals, She-Hulk & even Quantumania. I just hope they do this right. Don’t overdue the 4th wall breaking & don’t go too far into nostalgia. They could destroy the bad versions of characters like it seems they’re going to do with the OG Sabertooth in favor of the Leib Shriver(spelling?) version for example.

Haven't watched the video yet just throwing out my not thought out theory: When deadpool said I'm the marvel Jesus, maybe he will die for "our sins" (them dropping the ball of the mcu) and the rebirth is him saving the mcu and being "reborn" in the new mainline mcu universe. Whilst others branches still exist just aren't the focus that we are watching.
My idea not sure if heavy spoilers said it first, but Deadpool 1 was (at the time) the highest grossing rated r movie since Passion of the Christ

Marvel Jesus saved MCU
I feel we can see Ryan Reynolds reallllly going all out with this film as it relates to fan expectations in previous projects. Even as far as a Tom Cruise feature as Iron Man and a Mephisto appearance. Everything’s. On. The. Table.
15:29 I acc like how the MCU has been bringing back old Sony & Fox versions of characters thru the multiverse (i.e. Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire's Spider-Men, The Sinister Six, Professor X, Wolverine, etc) to do justice to the characters & give them the send off they deserve.
Characters like Prof X & Wolverine are obviously gonna be recast, but I don't know if Marvel would've planned to introduce new versions of characters like Doctor Octopus & Green Goblin tbh, so it's nice to see the original versions return.
I also like how the MCU's been using the Multiverse to give us cameos of fancast actors playing variants, i.e. John Krasinski as Mr Fantastic in DS:MOM. Taron Egerton & Channing Tatum are also rumoured to appear in DP3 as Wolverine & Gambit variants.

for me it was never the quantity, but quality. i am a TV HEAD and have always been. i'm always on the edge of my seat ready to watch another movie or show, but lately everything has been about checking off boxes for the MCU and i was starting to be over it... until that Deadpool trailer. cant wait
When i heard the fox characters and multiverse in general were going to be part of the mcu, first thing i thought of was "deadpool has got to be first." Not because of Reynolds, the fact i like him, or the characters popularity, which all factors do help, but because he's the smart choice. Because he already time hopped and is the closest comedically (ignoring the raunchy humor) to the mcu, in addition to the 4th wall being virtually non-existent with him, he can act as the needle to sew both franchises together.

As much as I enjoyed She-Hulk, I had a few issues with it. But I was actually relieved by the whole K.E.V.I.N. thing. I had the *exact same complaints* that Jen had, and the whole scene had me yelling THANK YOU at my screen! Yes, it could have been executed smoother, but I really, really hated where the dumb, predictable, overused villain plot was going up to that point.
Recast all the xmen outside of Hugh Jackman. Those movies were predominantly horrible and the actors were a part of the reason.
Personally, i think Deadpool can be used to patch things up, but there’s a limit. He needs to be used to combine the characters from the various universes, but beyond that - the larger story must be good. The characters must be good.
The cross overs have to be built up. You can’t just spam nostalgia and hope for the best. See: WWE bringing back The Rock.

This is a great video. The Deadpool movie is the only one that can fix the problems AS THE STORY. Marvel movies are very similar to the wrestling business. Right now you've lost the fans that watch no matter what, and you've lost the fans that only tune in to see a star. This is the one chance to get everybody back. It'll be difficult to do it on just one movie, but he's the only one that can do it.

Nah I think you're pretty much on point of what I feel about the MCU now. Everything feels like a drag and all the introduction of new characters are just uninteresting. Deadpool is important because hes a very popular character. Once we get Xmen and Fantastic 4 with great writing, it will be back on its feet like the Infinity Saga.
Ryan Reynolds is a creative person, an artist. 3 main movies was kind of stretching it for him. If he survives this movie, maybe cameos. But he's not going to be the Iron Man of the MCU.
Spiderman was being set up as our new Tony. In far from home, Happy basically said Peter reminded him of Tony.
Stark just wanted to be better than his father, while Peter wants to be at least as good as Tony. That's not happening now due to Sony having ownership of the spiderman license, that they will never let go of.
EVERYONE can be re-cast. These are iconic characters with massive libraries and should not be killed off by actors contracts or even the passing of the actors.
It probably wouldn’t happen, but I think it would be hilarious if the movie starts with a re-casted Wade/Deadpool because of the acquisition. Then Ryan Reynolds cuts in and talks to K.E.V.I.N. to change things because She-Hulk did. I liked that bit in She-Hulk 🤷♂️
The key to Deadpool is that he is a person who has more or less ascended into being a cosmic trickster entity who still thinks of himself as a person and acts like a person, retains his tethers to his human life and generally approaches what a different person would consider becoming a god as just another weird messed up thing that happened to him not particularly unlike any other weird messed up thing that has happened in his life. I personally would think it would be kind of genius to tap into all of the other commentary on gods-as-people the MCU has been playing with in phase 4 - and I suspect that might be where they were going with the "I'm Marvel Jesus" scene from the trailer. Essentially avoiding the She-Hulk route of being overly literal but directly tying Deadpool's fourth wall breaking into the core plot and inciting action of the film. I could see the TVA knowing that Deadpool is special and has special abilities, but they don't understand what exactly it is that makes him special and moreover they are completely *incapable* of understanding what it is - even if he does bother to earnestly try to explain it to them. They just understand that Deadpool is some kind of god - not particularly unlike anyone they know of from the various pantheons or cosmic entities that know exist but don't really understand. Perhaps they will initially see Deadpool seeing himself as just some dude trying to have as normal a weird life as possible as a weakness they think they can exploit, but then they will come to realize they have made a terrible mistake.
Deadpool does have the overall qualities to be the new MCU's franchise player.
Also I agree with the She Hulk series finale was really trying hard to show us that she can break the 4th wall and that's what ruined the finale. It was a mid or below mid series.
What if we have another Multiverse of Madness situation here, everybody is hyped, and things that the movie will be great and stuff then it flops or doesn't reach the expectations, I prefer to think that it will be shitty from now on tbh.

here's my thing, they havea lot of comics titles and SO many to follow but simply because we are blessed witha connected universe, doesn't mean you have to follow all of it. Do a lot of them tie into each other sure but not so much they aren't stand-alone worthy to pick one and stick with if it's your bag. Homework if you must but it's not ever required, I always just followed one title or two, but these movies made me enjoy characters I thought were boring in the funnies, it should be allowed to be the same the other way around? It is different media, but some things lend themselves much better to certain platforms...

I just don't see how they can revolve the MCU around Deadpool. This is coming from a long time comic fan that prefers the theatrical Deadpool over the comic verision. IMO it's more Ryan Reynolds than the character itself. He owned that character and I doubt anyone else in that role would've garnered as much success for Deadpool than him. Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards is possibly our greatest shot at RDJ/Chris Evans cohesiveness that the MCU desperately needs. The closest we got to that currently is Cumberpatch and Holland, and Spiderman is unfortunately shackled to Sony. If Pedro aces this role and they get Cillian Murphy as Doom.....well problem solved.

It's funny, because this is probably my favourite YT channel but, while you're fed up of complaining about the MCU, I am fed up of complaining about you complaining. The thing is, it is not just that I disagree with you, because in many cases, I don't. I am just sick of this revisionist history that has made its way into the general MCU conversation. The MCU has never, ever been universally loved, but people like to talk now as if everything in Phase 1-3 was perfection (although I am sure they will still whine about Captain Marvel) and that is not only completely untrue, it is also completely wrong in terms of how a lot of fans reacted to things like Thor 2, Iron Man 2 & 3 or the The Incredible Hulk.
Sure, none of those phases had comparable TV shows and certainly did not have the unfortunate pressure of an idiot CEO who demanded more and more content. But is that actually fair on everything post End Game? It's also not the fault of anything that has happened since then that Chadwick Boseman died or that Covid happened.
The single biggest problem with the MCU is that their fan base has basically turned into the Star Wars fan base; and that fan base has always been - and always will be - the single biggest problem with Star Wars.
In my recommended videos next to this video, which has a title about Deadpool saving the MCU, I have at least three other videos with essentially the same title. It's garbage. It's complete and utter garbage. The MCU could - and absolutely should - make some improvements. But my god, it does not need SAVING, and seeing the same tired rhetoric being drummed out over and again by channels that frankly, should know better, is... well, to be polite, it's a little irksome, y'know?
As for the breakdown shows - Ryan, come on, 'What If...?' was put on over Christmas week. I cannot be the only one of your 1.54m subscribers that was kind of busy that week! Obviously you covered the point about Echo but I did actually make the effort to watch your breakdown show after each episode, as I was unable to watch it for the first couple of days. Because, y'know, despite this essay, I love this channel!
Yes, I do want quality over quantity. Yes, I am delighted that the Daredevil show got rewritten and that Foggy & Karen are in it (and they had better not die!), and that the MCU has pumped the brakes on for its releases, and yes I have complaints about various stories. But lots of us loved Hawkeye, and She-Hulk, heck even Black Widow, but they all get spoken about like they are universally hated. Which is, quite frankly as untrue as it is to say that phases 1-3 of the MCU are perfection.
Anyway, I doubt anyone will read this but I feel a bit better now. Right, I'm off to put the kettle on and watch your Fantastic Four video.

I do not agree the problem is that Marvel was pushing out too much content. I am perfectly happy to juggle movies and TV shows… if they are good… some of these movies and shows are not good and/or have un likeable characters and preachy storylines or just bad storylines and/or pacing.
For what it's worth, I don't think the problem was that there was too much Marvel content, I think there was too much Marvel content that nobody cared about. I mean, really? We need a whole movie about Antman and The Wasp? No, we didn't. Nick Fury is a good supporting character, but hasn't been a leading role since the 1950s. The Eternals found an audience, but a much smaller audience than Disney was hoping for -- because they didn't bother to notice that The Eternals are not a banner title. I'd say that Guardians of the Galaxy was a fluk that came together and found a great audience at just the right time - but if those movies had seen theatres a year later than they did, it probably would have fallen prey to the same problems those aforementioned titles did. The same thing sort of happened to Disney+; the first four shows (Wandavision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye and Loki) caught the excitement and fever of the moment just like United States of Tara, Big Love, Weeds and True Blood did for Showtime and HBO did in the 2000s, but interest in those networks waned when those shows wrpped and new shows did not have the same interest. The grim truth is that not every Marvel property is golden; the smaller characters are not going to draw big numbers every time, so it would be wise to get some of those larger characters rolling, if Disney wants to maintain the position they're holding right now.
