  • Another AMT car model kit but this one surprised me. Very well engineered with very good fit and finish on all the parts. No issues with assembling this Chevrolet Impala SS!
    I use spray can for most of the painting along with Tamiya Acrylic brush painting.
    I use Tamiya Cement for connecting all the parts together
    Thank you for watching!

    Omg finally someone who shows themselves building it! Thank you so much! That rear suspension was so confusing from the instructions. This is my first model car and I was getting so frustrated! You rock!

      Just take your time. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. As you get more models under your belt your confidence will grow. I’ve been building for 40+ years and I still learn new ways to improve. It’s a great hobby. Enjoy it.

    I've always loved model kits that gave you a separate frame with a very high level of detail on the suspension this way you can create a three-dimensional realism by adding brake lines and fuel lines to give it more realistic look the toys colors you chose for this was beautiful that Violet looks great it's a beautiful build indeed

    Always had a hard time painting chrome trim with a brush and silver paint ,never thought of using a silver Sharpie awesome idea👍👍👍

      I am just like you, trim is very difficult for me...the silver sharpie was a game changer! Saves time and looks good for me

    Proper detail brushes will make life so much easier ;) Bare metal foil can be a challenge at first but does become quite easy, taping off and using a chrome paint will make trim look crisper and cleaner. Lookin good!!

    I just got one of these. I am going to order a different motor for it (LS) and try to make it fit. That and custom wheels. Try to make it match mine. Thanks for the tutorial.

    I just finished the same model, but I noticed your frount seats are bucket seats, in my kit they were bench seats for the front, I had to cut the console so it would fit in to place.

    • @seeds4hobbies
      @seeds4hobbies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      interesting error...for sure they should be bucket seats! Glad you made it work!

    Something that really infuriated me when I built this kit is one spring for the front suspension was longer than the other and I couldn't put the lower suspension piece on since it was too long, did you have this problem?

    • @seeds4hobbies
      @seeds4hobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so annoying when it happens! I did not have that problem with this kit though, I was surprised how trouble free the suspension was and that all 4 wheels were actually level on the ground once built.

    • @Manny-qf8ky
      @Manny-qf8ky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seeds4hobbies I was wondering if you knew any ways to actually fix it? I’m planning on flushing the hole out with paint thinner to check if any thick paint got into there

    • @seeds4hobbies
      @seeds4hobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Manny-qf8ky not 100% sure, if one spring is too long I would cut it to make it even with the other. Or if the opposite i would make a spacer from the sprues or spare plastic to make the spring longer.

    • @Manny-qf8ky
      @Manny-qf8ky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@seeds4hobbies I found the issue, I think the spring is genuinely too WIDE to fit in the suspension hole, it's weird but I think the factory made a mistake with the sizing and made it too big to fix in the hole, strange but I can sand it down to where it'll fit.

    What's best glue to use for painted parts?

    • @seeds4hobbies
      @seeds4hobbies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still use Tamiya Cement for painted parts but sand down the paint first. Or use super glue to avoid a mess

    Hi, it looks like your build matches the quality of the kit - you didn't make the extra effort to create a great looking car just like AMT did with this kit, I say that because I am building the kit and dang, it's taking me a lot of time to clean the parts to make it look decent. Sorry no offense, just disappointed that a kit costing $30 should be perhaps a bit cleaner?
