Hi Chris, I've been having a great fun afternoon today building one of my 2 Supernatural Impala kits while watching your Supernatural video. It will be a gift for my daughter who is a huge Supernatural fan. She has no clue it will be in the mail to her. Couldn't resist sharing with you.
I have built variations from this kit many times, mostly in 4 door sedan variations. Someday I will have to actually build it straight from the box. This is a great video, and quite informative. Thanks for sharing it.
I really REALLY wish that more kits came with the separate frame for those vehicles that actually had them and weren't unibody. It just makes for a much nicer and more detailed model when finished.
I have learned soo many techniques from watching your videos for a couple years now. 1 of the biggest that had made things much easier is using craft paints instead of enamels all the time because the craft paints are soo much easier to clean up and faster jumping from 1 paint to the next. Thank you Thank you
I have never seen the show but I have been waiting for you to do this kit because it's 1 of the best years for the Impala and it's 4 DOOR !!!! Most hot rodders don't care much for 4 doors but for the 60s Impala either 2 or 4 door is awesome
YES! indeed. Chris is the Dean of miniature automobile builders. Just wanted to thank you for all the tips and reviews, especially the introductions to Frog Tape (Delicate Surface) and Molotow Chrome Pens. Used them both last night for the very first time and made what used be difficult very easy and satisfying. Thanks again!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL JOB !!!! Thank you very much for sharing your builds, ideas, tips, and techniques. Everyone keep yourself, family, and friends safe and healthy.
Perfect timing. My daughter is a huge fan of the show and has been binge watching it during our current shutdown. Her birthday is on the 4th of July and will be following your process as a gift to her. Thanks!
I just finished a 1967 caprice based a on this supernatural kit. It turned out excellent. Added vinyl roof, fender skirts, whitewall tires, c-hubcaps and caprice taillights. The real coup was the white backup lights only unique to the caprice. Excellent kit.
My daughter loves Supernatural. She's been to a couple of conventions they had for the show and has a die cast of the car. I should get one just because I love Impalas.
I watched the entire series of of Supernatural and I love this car! Before the show I never cared for 4 doors cars. But since then I have realised how sharp a 4 door can be. It doesnt hurt that this is Chevys best model for the Impala. 😂
Hi Chris this turned out really gorgeous.i really like the cars from the late 60s and early 70s and this is one of my favourites. Thanks again Chris & have good weekend.
As a child we lived 1/4 mile from a junk yard. One Sunday evening we took a hood from the junkyard to use as a sled no we didn't ask permission first the next morning the junkyard owner found our footprints in the snow he followed them the whole way to our house. We got in some trouble with our parents for taking the hood. hell we were only around 10 years old. Once the owner found out we were just kids he didn't care he hooked the hood to his 4 wheeler pulled us all over the place. Playing hide and seek in a junkyard is awesome as a child.
Nice build review. Lots of possibilities with this awesome kit. The first thing that comes to mind is to get this kit and the Impala fire chief and build this kit as the fire chief’s car, and “ hot rod” the 2 door.
I have had the original two door 67 Impala since 1997 and that's a beautiful kit. Glad to see this one looks just as well detailed. May have to get it!
I’ve got two of these kits on the way. One to build, one to shelf. I’m gonna make it super realistic with sponge applied spots of rust paint on the frame and suspension parts. It is after all a Midwest car. Lol
You've been a great little reference for me putting together my kits over the years just started my kit of the supernatural impala they should have molded the trunk so you can use the decal
Chris, You mentioned in the video that the rear seat was a "new tool'. In actuality, the front seat is the "new tool" and it doesn't match the "original" two door SS kit. In addition, the transmission in the 1:1 car was an automatic not a manual as depicted in the kit. I realize that this isn't any of your fault and R2 should have paid more attention to these minor details. I just opened my kit and discovered that it was missing the front seat entirely. Your build of this kit turned out super! Thanks for doing this review.
Nice car. Supernatural is a good show. This Impala is like the Batmobile. Or Knight Rider. I love show themed vehicles. I would love the Jeep pickup from "Tremors" as a kit too. Chevy hit the mark with their Impala's. I had higher hopes for the grill but, it is what it is. A must have kit for the tv show collector. Should be a big seller.
Thanks sooo much for the review Chris! So impressed I was how the body looks on this, I went ahead and ordered the kit while the vid was playing. ☺️ I’m glad Round2 fixed the rear fenders on this four door....not quite correct on the coupe. I’d like to build mine just as I remember it as a little kid when this was new. Nice new family grocery getter, and I’m fortunate I do have the stock wheel covers for this one. Thanks again for the great review.....she looks mighty sharp! 👍🏻
An excellent model that was a long time coming. You did a superb job building it! About the only thing that I could wish is that they would have included some 'accessories' to dress-up the model; say an in-scale Colt revolver or the First Blade. (Hopefully, these - as well as figures of Sam and Dean - will be available, aftermarket.) Thanks for posting this! "Eat it, Twilight . . . ."
Hello from the west coast of Canada , I've been watching and really enjoying your reviews I went and bought myself four kits three AMT one Revell all Fords AMT 40 Ford coupe , AMT 34 Ford pickup , AMT 41 Ford custom woody wagon and a Revell 48 Ford police coupe , Í 'm very impressed by your building skills especially when you weather and distress the finish on your builds , I'm in my sixties and I'm an artist and I am exited to try out some weathering techniques on my builds , I had the 34 Ford pickup kit when I was young , this is a great trip down memory lane , great stuff !
@@hpiguy You're welcome , I also bought myself a miniature book store a very highly detailed model of a used book store very labour intensive but very high quality .
I just got this kit through Model Roundup and between this, my resin '67 Caprice body, and a bunch of '67 SS Impala kits I want to order a couple more so I can kitbash and create a few creations of my own
I just ordered mine and I’m doing exactly how you did it cause it looks sooooo amazing and it’s my first kit doing so why not do it and learn from a master like yourself
Seems like they cheesed their way through converting the beautiful '67 Impala SS kit. Column automatic lever with a 4 speed transmission and they left the clutch pedal. I also noticed the hole in trans hump for the center console is still there not to mention, the floor hump is wrong for an automatic car. ( I really doubt the real show car has a 427 ci ). Wrong gauge cluster for a 4 door Impala, it would have came with the sweeping speedometer. The tooling for the body wasn't finished, leaving scratches in the mold. Don't get me wrong, i am grateful to have this kit and kudos to Round 2 for making it happen. Unfortunately, its a very specific purpose model without a lot of scratch building and parts box parts. I think they are missing a huge opportunity here not offering a stripped down 4 door Biscayne. Great job as always with your build and sharing a few building tips along the way. Love your channel.
The "Hero" car is the 427, the stunt cars are all in the 300 ci range. They're all automatic, though. And a lot are actually caprices converted to impalas Edit: more info
Hello, great kit. I have to get a few of them, so many building options to consider. I really like the four door body and that there is not any engine marking on the side of the front fenders so an engine swap is a natural, like a 6 cylinder 283, 327 or a big block. Kit bashing this with the other '67 Impala 2 door would be a good project. The one thing that stands out is the transmission a four speed standard shift. It has a clutch and a nice hole in the floor for the shifter to go into but no floor shifter LOL. The shifter on the steering wheel is for an automatic or a three on the tree. I would turn it around so it would be the turn signal and add a floor shifter. I have been watching all of your videos and I just now noticed something. Your like me left handed and it's been in my face all this time. LOL. The car body looks great with the floor polish. I have not tried that yet. Using the sharpies looks like a great idea and time saver. You have so many good ideas to try out building kits. Thank you very much.
First time building anything like this and am a little scared lol. Will be building this in stages. Massive fan of the show and cannot wait! Recently got this on a trip to the States (UK based) so we don't get this model kit over here.
There should have been a classic radio rock soundtrack on this one in keeping with the show. Great build of a great looking car. Well done. Great vid, thanks for sharing.
I do like the way you sand down the tires. One other thing I do is use a black wash over the tire after the sanding. I use an oil base wash. In my opinion it make the tires look more realistic. They look more like worn tires then just sanded.
I think that your next review build is the AMT Dodge Viper GTS COUP kit #8055. It has 1 of the most amazing detailed parts and has a ton of parts. It is an absolutely beautiful kit.
Wow! This came out beautifully. Fun fact about the interior. The crew requested the seats be black to make it easier to shoot interior scenes in the car, which is why the seats never matched the interior.

@@v8cool231 Hopefully the demand will grow. There is a lot of cool potential with four door kits. Taxis and Police cars of different states, undercover squad cars and just your everyday beat up runaround. I had fun recently building a 1970 Ford Galaxie as a San Francisco Yellow Cab.
@@morrismckinnon6047 Well the poeple who say this don't seem to realise there is a world outside of the USA. And it seems AMT and Revell don't either.
