    Miley Cyrus starred as Hannah Montana in the most popular Disney Channel show in history. Getting the role was her biggest dream and is the reason why we all know her today. However she did not own her name "Miley Cyrus." This made me question her "wild phase," in 2012 -2014 and if it was a business move or simply her trying to escape her past.

    I never believed her “wild phase” was anything other than separating herself from the child star and wanting people to see her as an adult. I didn’t believe her and Liam we over he just couldn’t stick it out while she changed peoples perceptions and then boom they got back together. But I felt like it was all planned and I predicted she would mellow out and she did. I did not however predict Liam’s cheating and all his shit. Glad she is free and I loved Flowers.

    I find it so disgusting that people see a "Disney girl" cut her hair, dance more "provocatively" and smoke weed, and think the correct response is dragging her, writing condescending articles about her, talking about her as a crazy, out of control "wild girl", shaming her in every way imaginable. I vividly remember seeing a teen magazine during her "can't be tamed"-era that had written on the front page "Miley Cyrus - from babe to bitch". WTF? Yeah, calling her a straight up bitch in a magazine read by ten-year-olds is a great idea. It's a good thing she was intentional about it, and seems to have parents who had her back. So many former child stars are psychologically scarred by the industry and the media.

      Unfortunately the media is controlled by the same people who control the sick mainstream pop music industry. The media will go after anyone who goes against the grain of the mainstream music industry, and they won't stop until they've either completely tarnished the reputation of whoever they're going after. This is why so many artists/actors wind up dead, as soon as they realise what's going on, that they have no freedom left, they're in too deep to get out of it. They either kill themselves because of the mounting pressure, or they get killed and it's made to look like suicide.

If you deem your child old enough to have unsupervised access to the internet/social media then you also deem them mentally prepared for what they find on it. I grew up with these Disney shows and even I as a 15 year old could see that Miley wasn’t “going crazy” or “completely off the rails” - She was just doing what any other teen/young adult does, except she had an immense platform and was under the public eye constantly. I remember feeling so bad for her seeing the way everyone was talking about her.
    What 17-18-19 year old hasn’t wanted to or actually experimented with substances or being more provocative in their actions? Of course it is not always ideal but that’s life.
    Compared to other young stars that went through a lot with addiction/mental health problems (think of Lindsey Lohan, Amanda Bynes, the Culkin kid or even Britney) her actions were pretty tame, in my opinion. Most of what she did wouldn’t cause such a reaction nowadays - She was just ahead of her time.
    Loved the video and I totally agree that everything was most definitely calculated by her/her team.

  • @radish1395
    @radish1395 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    She literally had to be two people in the time when we're trying to figure out the one person we are. Her rebellious phase couldn't happen as a teenager because she was so sheltered by the Disney Machine. So, of course, when she was able to get out from under that umbrella and feel sunlight for the first time, she made music that was fun and dancey and what she wanted to be. Can't Be Tamed was a cry for help. Can't Stop Won't Stop is a woman victorious. Wrecking Ball is an artist finally breaking into their own. Everything after is Miley merging all of these pieces together into one, complete, whole, complex, and nuanced human being.
    And the media needs to fucking stop with "if a woman cuts her hair, she must be having a breakdown" or whatever else women do to feel good about themselves. A drastic haircut, a new tattoo, a new piercing, twerking on Robin Thicke, whatever is not a cry for help or a breakdown. It's just a woman trying some new things and twerking on Robin Thicke to a deeply problematic song. But lord forbid a man change his hair or get some new looks.

I was like "you do you girl.", but at the same time I was not into it. Plus I also thought she was searching for herself artistically. Musically I liked some of her later stuff. i knew miley during the early 2010's. she was just being herself at the time. she's a dope, intelligent, and compassionate person. before she started that album, we all got really into nicki minaj. her pre-mainstream mixtapes specifically. miley was also experimenting with drugs, as most teens / young adults do. she remained sane and kind throughout though. i don't think she would done anything to strategically escape a contract. and her actions were just an elevation of the fun, experimental life she was enjoying as an independent young adult.

      I agree. A wild phase is a part of growing up and she had more resources than most young adults her age. Her actions were magnified because of her fame. She used a lot of gimmicks that female musicians used before her. She often was compared to Madonna in a disparaging way. A lot of criticism came from people who were threatened by a liberated female. Miley wasn’t trolling Disney. She trolled everyone who was against her.

    Miley isn't the only one who broke out of Disney with the exact same tactics. Its like a clock. They use Disney to become popular and break out of it with the trashy tactics. And Disney make the same mistake again and again. On other way, Disney can't expect 18 years old ppl, behave as 12 y olds for the rest of their life. Its not how growing up works. As teenager u want party and make intimate experience with your boyfriend.
    Tbh, I struggle with Disney kids consept. Alone with the streaming Disney plus. +16 goes already in separate section. Not +18 but we talk about +16. And many of thus +16 Stuff I would call maximum +12. For real. Its a real laughable and fck of. I understand everyone who run away of Disney. Humans making mistake and making experience. This put Miley in a whole light for me. I loved the show Hannah Montana as a kid, but didn’t listen to the music much because it was pop and country music and I’m more of an R&B girl. But I honestly looked at her wild phase as cultural appropriation and I resented that- it seemed like she was trying to fit in at a time when hip hop was becoming the most prominent and best selling genre of music. But it makes sense that she might’ve done it to get out of her contract. And in that case, good for her for being so smart about it. Most people go the arbitrary route which is costly and messy.

      Right? Britney was victimized the most! Who knows what they did to her! Britney claims to this day they injected her with drugs and other horrific things not to mention she claims they robotically cloned her. The rumor that she died was debunked by Justin and doctors in the 90’s and Britney herself has mocked those rumors and proved it’s still her because why would her family control a clone when a clone would automatically listen to them? Clones have no free will so they wouldn’t rebel so obviously our Britney has been with us all along plus clones can’t get pregnant because even biological clones don’t have the reproduction to create a baby. Cloners wouldn’t be dumb enough to do that. My dad is a physical scientist and explained this to me. If someone is truly cloned, their DNA may be the same, but they are basically a robot. They have no soul. A normal human being can’t live or breathe without a soul or spirit. A biological clone can’t produce children because they are controlled by technology and programmed from birth. So those people saying Britney died in the 90’s have a screw loose somewhere especially since Britney debunked it herself but yeah Miley was blessed. Out of all the Disney stars she’s the ONLY one who made it and survived without a breakdown. She’s one strong person 💕

      I would imagine they also saw the show as her first real big break, especially at first. She was basically unknown to us until HM. I also doubt they expected her fame to blow up as huge as it did & so quickly.
      The other problem is how much these companies can take advantage of a musician when their musical career is directly tied to a character they own. I heard of the same thing happening to the biggest Mexican pop group Rebelde/RBD who had sold out shows worldwide but weren’t really making much money & certainly no royalties because their music careers were directly tied to their Telenovela (also called Rebelde). Again, the artists were young & not huge stars before the show, they also had not expected their music careers to take off the way they did because of the show. Due to contracts, these companies own them for some time.

    • @nleem3361
      @nleem3361 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      The contract is key to any business deal. My engineering contacts teach told the class many times, if you can't work things out in the contact while everyone is in love with each other thinking of the millones they'll make together, things won't work in the long run. Always be sure to review the contract and negotiate whatever needs to be changed.
      Companies generally don't suddenly decide to update the contact to give away profits. That's why they should have contacted a lawyer or consultant upfront if they didn't fully know the industry standards. They even could have limited the terms to year before they'd need to renegotiate. There's lots of options up front, but once the deal is signed, not much can legally be done.
