Cant hold us - Macklemore came out first :
"Can't Hold Us" is a song written and performed by American hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring American singer Ray Dalton, originally released on August 16, 2011, as the second single from the duo's debut album The Heist (2012).
"Thrift Shop" is a song written and performed by American hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring vocals from American singer Wanz, released in 2012, as the fourth single from the former's debut studio album, The Heist (2012).

I’m from Seattle, and before Macklemore blew up, he was pretty big in the underground scene and also did a LOT for the local hip hop community, and you also can’t mention him without mentioning Ryan Lewis, his producer/partner.
I don’t listen to his music anymore and was kinda already off of it by the time he blew up, but prior to his blow up he helped a lot of underground rappers in Seattle to build their careers.
I 100% agree with Kendrick, who SHOULD have won, and those texts should of stayed private cuz all that was super cringe, but I’ll always have respect for Macklemore just for what he helped to do for a lot of Seattle rappers.

In all honesty what happened with Ashlee Simpson wasn't so horrible or worth a cancelation but... she'd condemned other performers for lip syncing and using backing tracks prior to her SNL fiasco. So it was a case of someone being a hypocrite. Of course a lot of "entertainers" use backing tracks, but her saying previously that it was "fake" and "being dishonest" was what caused her a lot of backlash. She shouldn't have been so quick to judge others and she probably would've been able to recoup.

Yeah this, 100%. Starting over is about getting clean and quitting drugs and that helped me. So did Same Love. The Heist is a great album

Honestly the incident mentioned in the video wasn't the one that soured me on macklemore; it was the time he decided to dress like a racist cartoon on stage. Google "macklemore jewish costume" if you're curious.

He had nothing to appilogize for, nor should he have felt guilty. Be a man and enjoy your success but stay ambitious and have a good work ethic.

I’m not a fan of Macklemore’s music, but it wasn’t his fault he won the Grammy. It’s every artist’s goal to win, he was in a tough situation that he didn’t cause himself

It's not every artist's goal to win. Most artists with integrity couldn't give a damn about a popularity contest framed as an award show.

My question is if he sincerely didn't think he deserved taking the wins from other competitors, why did he participate in the first place?

When it came to the song "Thriftshop", I felt like I was hearing that sax solo in almost every theatrical trailers in the theater during it's release. Just when business is about to pick up in the trailer, the sax part will start playing. Am I crazy?

Macklemore and Janet's downfalls are not their fault. There are lots of voices to give Janet justice nowadays and for good reason. Justice for her! Mack should be treated similarily. It's not his fault that his album won so many awards.

@@Powhart you know specifically why Macklemore won so much all those years ago. He expressed support for homosexuality, That's the only reason why he won. Hip hop is garbage anyway though, just wanted to state facts about mack.
