    I have a very similar opinion to Angel as you. He is good at doing whatever he needs to do, he is ready to go turn one, he is among the S tier heroes, he gets a bit stale after a bit of play bc his strengths are so apparent and effective.
    One thing I don't think will get old with him is his theme. From the first game I played with him I couldn't believe how much flipping and ready and cards bouncing and just all the things he could do in one turn. I recognized this as a bird diving in and out and changing form and being very quick. Just an aerial barrage. Not sure if that was the design intent but it is very easy and very fun to have a clear picture of exactly what his cards and abilities would look like.

      That's great! I didn't talk much about theme but some of his cards are really evocative.

    I would love to see a video on Ease of Play tier list for all heroes, and in-depth discussion on how to attract new players to Marvel Champions and help them enjoy their first game without overwhelming them. Personally, I recommend a short list of who I believe are the easiest heroes, usually build as aggression unless the person is really excited for another aspect, typically avoid allies so they learn how to focus on cards that stay in play and when to use events instead, and then be sure the new player's deck and all experienced players know to build their decks with one draw set option and Avengers Mansion as a free additional draw option (so sets could be three Assess the Situations, or one Maria Hill, or three Taunts, etc. etc.). I also ban Dr. Strange and Domino from being played as heroes so as not to bog the game down or make other heroes feel small in comparison (as two that immediately come to mind). We play Rhino and Norman Osborne typically, but I would like more advice on this as well as suggested modules. I think a video like this would be a blessing in growing the MC community.

      Great points, love it. I have some ideas about introducing players to the game as I have done so myself, so that will be interesting to talk about.

    I really appreciate this nuanced approach to tier list making! I also like the hot-take ones that generate discussion, but this approach is so cool in that if you favor flexibility over something else, you might overall appreciate a hero differently, and these thoughtful breakdowns really help people figure out what heroes might resonate with them more.

    The explanation compared to Ant-Man was very easy to understand. I hope there are more heroes with risks like acceleration icons.

      Agreed about the comparison to Ant-Man! I also appreciated the advice that if I like Venom, Cap, and Gamora, I'll like Angel. Those are 3 of my favorites, so I'm excited. Thanks!

      Thank you! And I think you're going to like Deadpool if you like those kind of risks! Can't wait to talk about the Pool aspect.

    Great breakdown! As a major fan of the combiner / triple changer mechanic from transformers tcg. Angel is awesome.

    Man, the more I watch of these the more I disagree with one thing. I think cable was ranked WAY too low on your support character list. The side scheme to get an upgrade or support out instantly makes cable the best support character for Angel, Antman, Quicksilver, and several others.
    Great video 👍

    Excellent Analysis VT, as usual!
    I also think Worthington Industries is a really good card, giving you the ability to keep stuffing Aerial cards back in the deck.
    I played Aggression with Dive Bomb and Honed Technique and was able to do massive damage, wiping out 4 minions and knocking the villain upside the head on one turn.

    Great analysis! VT. Glad to hear and see the thoughts behind one of the best deck constructors in the game. I've used many of your decks on marvelcdb! I'm glad you started a youtube channel that may fill the void left by ToneeTales leaving the hobby after his first child was born. This video popped up on my feed and glad it did. Thanks again. Do you have plans to go back and break down earlier heroes with this same kind of analysis?

    It would be nice if your tier list was at the end of the video and you attached Angel there

    Great video. Your detailed analysis is a welcome addition to the community! I’m always excited to see another VT video get uploaded.
    But Angel…meh. I’m predisposed to not really loving heroes that are too good. The S tier is generally less interesting to me, as it makes the game too easy. I also agree that there is little variety, and he always feels the same to play. For my money…that’s a little boring after a number of plays.

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! And yes, strong heroes definitely can make most scenarios too easy. Something I've actually enjoyed lately are the Superpower modulars from Mr. Sinister - Aerial and Telepathy and so on. Those are great ways to make scenarios more difficult without becoming swingy like Standard/Expert II or Heroic mode etc. So maybe there's some potential to enjoy Angel more with some of those mixed in!

    He’s my favorite of the tri folding cards. I have had fun adding aerial allies and finding fun ways to interact off of them. Yeah Psylock Ally almost near gets played. But I enjoy him. And yes he is strong. His damage output can be huge and versatile.

      Nice! The Aerial allies are really cool. I also expect Angel to be really fun with the 'Pool aspect, can't wait to try him there.

    I think some people are hesitant to award that lauded S tier right away but I agree with you.
    Not at DS or SH level, which i consider S+, but i really do think he is at the level of ScW, Venom, and Miles.
    And yeah, not the most interesting deck build but ive been having fun playing him. I like form heroes tho.

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting! I've not followed much talk about the game for a few weeks now. For Domino and Cable, people thought I underestimated them.
      Angel is just crazy strong.

    @VillianTheory, May I suggest another video?
    I bought the game for my girlfriend who is an X men fan.
    She loves Storm so she was her first pick then she tried Wolverine and loved it more.
    I build her deck and I always choose a hero to balance her.
    And hopefully I will trick her into trying different heroes and finishing campaigns.
    So what if you made a video for co op games.
    Strongest hero (with aspect) combos, strongest thematic plays etc.
    Thematic thing aisde you can create some classes too like best attacker, support etc
    Make a tier list with hero and aspect (even deck name)
    Ten for each class
    Some best matching up heroes etc

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A video on matching up heroes sounds great! I'll have to see what time I get, but all of that sounds really interesting.

      @@VillainTheory You are already rating how easy a character to play. So you can also do some easy to play hero + plus it's match up. It would be a great guide for families (it would be easy for a kid to play while fathe ris supporting it) and it would be nice for a friend who will join for a co op match for once but not a huge fan (like i already play with two friends and thsi one friend just want to try for once)

    • @cihs88
      @cihs88 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also I think many play two player co op because game takes too long when it's 3-4 and still it might be nice to mention couple of them (for families and friends popping up) and for the rest you can consantrate mostly on 2 player co op

    • @cihs88
      @cihs88 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VillainTheory One another rating can be based on how easy to create a deck for this matching heroes. What I mean is there are some very nice decks yet They need me to buy 20 packs. And there are some decks while they are still powerfull they only need 9 packs.
      So in the end it can be great guide for families who doesn't want to invest a lot money while playing for their child. And it can be great for couples. And a friend who just pooped up for a game.

    Do you really mean you use Metamorphosis to go to Alter ego, or use it to return to hero after going into alter ego with your regular flip. As I read it he loses the Arial card proc if you use it to go to alter ego. There may of course be clarifications I am unaware of, or you may be planning on playing more Arial cards.
    The Psylocke damage timing is familiar from Tigra. Also from basic Peter Parker - you get to ready Archangel before taking fatal consequential damage.
    His super thwarting ability made me shove him straight into Aggression. Of course I have not actually played yet due to builders but keen to.
    I'd worry that he limits the power of future Arial cards - if they are strong in general they will be nuts with Angel. However I don't think FFG are that concerned with the overall balance so It should be fine, though any really good Arial cards will push him even higher.
    Good assessment as ever. I expect I will get bored of him as I did with Cap and I never liked Gamora. However I do enjoy bullying tougher villains with Porker and Venom so I may find the fun.

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use Metamorphosis in both ways, but most often go go alter-ego to get the card draw. But it depends on how easily I think I'll be able to trigger his other hero ability when flipping back down.
      Tigra is the perfect comparison I should have brought up.
      Hope you enjoy him when you get time to play him!
