was fun reminiscing on all the old hearthstone expansions. Great video! I did my rating along with you. For me, I rated based on meta/competitiveness as most of the time I hover at mid/high legend when I actively play the game. Classic set - its tough. I'd go with 5 mana auctioneer or 4 mana leeroy. sylv is not broken now, hasn't seen any play in wild for years. Leeroy is still 2024 standard viable at 5 mana and 5 mana auctioneer had to be nerfed after breaking wild and dominated classic. Ice block another great pick. Even after all these years, it's still somehow not nerfed. continues to be the only reason mage is playable in wild. Rag is great flavor, really captures the spirit of hearthstone. I think Millhouse Manastorm beats Lorewalker Cho as the worst card. Lorewalker Cho had some fun gameplay moments and weird interactions. Millhouse, you just die or nothing really happens. Curse of Naxx - Yup. Loatheb, still an absolute powerhouse in aggro/midrange strategies in wild. one of the strongest cards ever printed. Great honorable mentions as well. I would put mad scientist and death's bite up there as well. I think maexxna is worse than stoneskin, at least stoneskin has some potential with buffs, maexxna is just strictly bad unplayable even back then for 6 mana. GVG- agree with you on that one, dr. boom slotted into every deck lol. Mechwarper not being in the honorable mention is criminal. IMO, Hemet Nesingwary is still worse than Bolvar but not by much. BRM - Emperor Thaurissan. what a throwback. Grim Patron not getting an honorable mention makes me sad. Rend Blackhand is the worst BRM card, hungry dragon was playable at spots in arena. TGT - Agree with Mysterious Challenger. TGT has like a million worst cards. It's definitely OG Posioned Blade as a rogue main. That card gave me depression to look at. LOE - One of the best expacs of all time. OG Reno. No competition. I forgot about Cursed Blade lol. Yup. Easy way to insta lose. WOTOG - Praise Yogg. Nat the Darkfisher comes close to boogeymonster. ONIK - Big miss here imo, Its either Spirit Claws or Barnes. ONIK was mostly shamanstone from what I can remember. Also barnes on 4 for yshaarj spell hunter. Def one of the worst hearthstone metas. Worst card was Purify lol. So many memes about Unicorn priest. MSOG - yarr matey. Worst card for me is Sergeant Sally. Don Hancho had some meme decks with leeroy combos at least. Ungoro - Oh man. OG caverns below was rough. Ungoro post caverns below nerf was absolutely amazing tho one of the best metas. purify priest finally became a reality. Oh god Marsh queen lmaoo. Lifecoach said he was gonna quit hearthstone after he saw that card cuz it was so OP lmaooo. Knights of the frozen throne - Ultimate Infestation. Spreading Plague. Malfurion the pestilent. KOFT was just druidstone. My god, moorabi is awful. Kobolds and catacombs - Cubelock lets goo. pretty much every warlock card was the best and every warrior card was the worst. Temporus yeah lmao. The Witchwood - The decline of hearthstone. Biggest mistakes ever made. Baku and Genn. Aviana yep. Only better than temporus. Boomsday - I loved Boomsday control warrior. Was so fun. Boomzooka had some memes with it. Nethersoul Buster is my pick. Rumble - I legit don't remember this set well enough to give you any opinions on it. Rise of Shadows - Heistbaron Togwaggle - OMG one of my fav cards of all time and my personal favorite set of all time. My personal competitive peak legend rank(143) was with rise of shadows rogue :D. Dr. Boom's scheme has to be one of the worst cards ever printed. Saviors of Uldum - Zephyrs. Sadly have to agree. bazaar buglary. never could make it work even in wild. Descent Of Dragons - Shamanstone once again. Dark times. Every single game was shaman vs shaman lmao. Valdris was cool. Ashes of outlands - LMAO. the most powercreeped set of all time. Incanter's flow was from this. a lot of insanely strong cards. Alar was pretty good in arena. hard to pick a bad card from this set. Scholomance Academy - Jandice over secret passage is wild. OG Penflinger was also disgusting. Beast druid xd Darkmoon Faire - my personal most hated combo deck of all time, lifesteal DH. thank god its gone. Forged in the Barrens - I'm giving it to my boy, OG Octobot. Loved that card. Lunacy/flow mage was quite broken and frustrating this meta tho. Battlescar was fine before the far watch post nerf. played it in rogue. Bru'Kan gotta be the worst. Neeru is pretty terrible. Apothecary Helbrim. Cannonmaster Smythe all worse than Battlescar. Tavish Stormpike even. Don't diss my boy, Battlescar. United in Stormwind - OG Mithril Rod was insane. I thought Cornealius was going to be good pre release lmaoo. Fractured in Alterac Valley - Worst meta of all time. Drekthar ew. Voyage to sunken city - pre-nerf nellie was disgusting. Hooktusk was terrible during standard, its finally playable in wild and quite toxic against greedy decks. You just strip their hand and deck & there's nothing they can do lol. Murder at castle nanthria - Pre-nerf graveyard rogue was so fun. Bonespike is super broken imo. Kryxis was niche but played in deathrattle demon hunter. Halkias or steward gotta be the worst. March of the lich king - a very balanced and fun set :) Bonelord frostwhisper was played in standard(thaddius rogue combo) and performed decently. Not the worst. Thori-belore was useless before it got buffed. Festival of legends - Agreed on best card. Glaivetar and outcast Dh was quite strong as well. Worst card has to be stranglethorn heart. totally unplayable. Bounce around was used to meme at least. It's so bad it got buffed by 2 mana and its still unplayable. Titans - Ah yes, 0 mana 7/5 mindcontrol/mass hysteria/fill ur hand with shit. very fun meta. Hodir cool flavor shit card. Badlands - God, reno makes me puke. 8 fucking mana on release lmao. Slagmaw, more like sadmaw. stats are not enough anymore. Whizbang - Zilliax. most nerfed card in hearthstone history. Ci'ci'gi saw absolutely zero play. Pipsi was at least tried in big paladin. u could do something with it. Perils in paradise - You didn't do it so I'll just say mine. Best card on release probably lamplighter. Worst card has to be Ranger Gilly. I dont understand a single use case for it.
Wow thanks for the comment you clearly put a lot of work into it and I think your list is very good (many bad cards on your list I simply forgot about lol). I did try to lean towards more legendary minions as they have a higher bar to clear in my opinion for worst or best cards but I still forgot about maexxna. Also I didn't do perils in paradise because I made the video before the release and didn't want to judge the cards before they got a chance to see play (I do like your picks though). Also forgot about the pre buff cards like Thori-belore and stranglethorn heart. I geuss I had a preference towards cards that where nerfed rather than cards that saw play after getting buffed maybe that's unfair to cards that where stronger as to not get buffed at all. Also didn't consider wild for the list (I never played wild) but if I did mechwarper defiantly makes the list. Thanks for the great comment again means a lot to me!
@@SodaTCG np, like the video idea. and yeah i've been playing this game for too long at this point lol. dont really play that much anymore but its just nice to reminisce

The sheer dedication that it took to cover EVERY HEARTHSTONE EXPANSION up until the most recent one is awe-inspiring. You did fantastic work! As someone whose been around since (almost) the beginning of Hearthstone, it was fun taking a trip down memory lane and being reminded of the old metas. Thank you for your hard work! You have a very bright future ahead of you in content creation, I can just tell. ❤
How could you not mention Majordomo Executus as the worst card in Blackrock Mountain? The card basically read "Pay 9 mana, lose the game". Hungry Dragon was bad, but Executus was so horrible that you'd almost never willingly play it, even if he was just added to your hand by another card effect.
My favorite way to kill Arthas with Paladin back when the Frozen Throne mini adventure came out. Make him clone Majordomo and then hit him with the Ragnaros hero power.
1:02:15 outrageous take, this card was literally the reason a deck was tier one and got nerfed. Insane choice here, no idea why you would say Felsoul was a bad card
Fel Lord Betrug actually had a deck with plot twist. I get that he wasn’t incredible in that expansion but to say he was the worst is a bit of a stretch. I’d say in general the worst card if that expansion was Dr. Booms scheme and the worst legendary was definitely Tak Nozwhisker, the 7 mana 6/6 for rouge. Good list tho nice work 👍
Awesome video! If I could leave a small bit of advice, it would be easier on the eyes if you did black backgrounds with white text. Keep up the great work! :)
Haven’t played since Kobolds and Catacombs, but I’m almost positive that basically every time you put a legendary as worst card, it was one of the only ones I had (was f2p and gold/cards were so hard to get lol)
This was a superb video. personally a little sad, that it was mostly just legendaries, but they are representative of deck archetypes and are swingy. Keep it up :D
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're taking the importance of the card *at the time* into account, I don't remember Fandral Staghelm being considered that good when it was released.
Yeah I was more talking about during it's time in standard rather than on release for the cards in the video. Also I leaned harder into putting legendarys into top spots.
Some of the choices for worst card are baffling. Caria Felsoul not only saw play but was even nerfed due to her interaction with the DH colossal being too powerful. Also Sorc gambit being the best card in Stormwind is absurd, even pre-nerf i'd put at as the 3rd best quest at most. Also Pipsi as the worst card in Whizbang is also completely wrong in hindsight given how much play she has been seeing in the past 2 months.
League of Explorers was easily my favorite expansion. It was filled with such great cards, and even its worst cards are still pretty strong in their own right like Cursed Blade. It also included an Adventure that was pretty fun to play over and over, and I also think the tone of Hearthstone peaked here. Purely aesthetically, it was JUST funny enough and still took itself seriously. After this, the tone of expansions were just kind of a joke.
In Wild, Bounce Around is still played in a deck called Alexstraza Rogue where you combo off by continously bouncing Alexstraxa as much as you can while killing your opponent but its usually in your ETC sideboard. Majordomo Executus is iconically bad. 9/7 with a deathrattle that sets your hero to 8 health. *Don Han'Cho is nowhere near good, but is still fairly nice to randomly generate and was a good pick in arena at the time. For my money, Backstreet Leper will ALWAYS be one of the worst cards in the game. A post-nerf Leper Gnome with +2 attack for +2 mana. *Kobolds and Catacomb's best card, I feel, is Call to Arms. The stickiness of paladin minions, combined with Even Paladin being in the same space, the fact it thins your deck and the fact it also had to be nerfed to 5... makes me think it deserves at least honorable mentions. *Kargal saw a good amount of play. Mor'shan and Far Watch Post were nerfably good, and Kargal's ability to generate a board made it a good incidental finisher. I think Apothecary Helbrim is a far worse Legendary. Other than that, really good list! I can understand the justifications and it's well researched.
