    Another great video. I think you did an excellent job summarizing Psylocke in this shorter format. All of the notable elements of her kit are here. Personally, I prefer the long form videos. I've played enough Champions and am analytical enough that I don't feel like I got much out of this level of depth. I'd love to hear more psionic and skill card deck ideas, as well as interesting ways to play her in each aspect (especially leadership).
    So excited to see you posting videos. I actually looked to see if you had a channel a few months ago when you started appearing on Nelson's channel. It's exciting to see you taking the plunge.

    I completely agree with this: she is the best X-Factor hero thus far for the reasons she takes the downtime complexity of Domino away and she is the ultimate psionic. I have not had the chance to play her as much as I want, but I cannot stop thinking of amazing builds with her, she is a very exciting hero that I believe will only get better over time as we receive more psionic and skill cards. Phoenix always annoyed me, and when I saw Psylocke was coming out with her extra resource weaponry, I knew she would be top-tier for me. Hadn't thought about the Cerebro/X combo so I now have a justice build idea to get excited about. Great review.

    If you are worried some people won’t watch the longer format just split it into 2 separate videos. The first video can be the review & the second video could be more about specific deck building strategies for the hero.

    Great review but I do prefer the longer format.
    I just published a Justice Psylocke build called Flurry of X-Men that you should check out. It is 2 for 2 against Venom Goblin in Expert. She is definitely an S-Tier hero with the right deck build.

      Awesome! Cool deck. Turning lots of resources into lots of resources is definitely part of the strength that high economy heroes have.

    #Format
    I don’t know what your viewership goals are, but the short hero review feels more evergreen. You present a nice packet of information that seems like it will feel relevant for new players even 1 or 2 years from now.
    In the longer format you have time to talk more about the great decks she has at launch. Her Leadership builds where you recycle Prof X and Psi Kicker is insane. Her Repurpose builds create huge bursts. Her Honed Technique builds provide an extremely consistent and controlled path to victory with Aggression.
    At the end of the mutant trilogy we may have brand new archetypes, but it seems like the video is missing a little something by omitting them right now.
    #PhoenixIsDead
    I think you are only half-right. If you were playing a conservative Phoenix who spends most of the game “Restrained,” then you probably have more impact playing Psylocke.
    However, Phoenix builds that plan to be “Unleashed” as early and as long as possible crush Psylocke in card efficiency. Embrace your inner strength and rest assured that even if Dark Phoenix should arrive you are more than capable of extinguishing her flames.

    Maybe im greedy but i really want one more psionic hero in the next wave. We've only got three mystics, but psionic is such an important part of the X world. I hope someone else can give her a run for her psionic money eventually.

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same. I feel like between Emma Frost and Professor X we have a pretty good chance of another Psionic. If nothing else, surely we'll get 1-2 new Psionic allies? (Hopefully with the X-Men trait for Cerebro!)

  • @adamnowicki1425
    @adamnowicki1425 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So far I played her only in Honed Technique aggression deck but one similarity between her and Jean Grey is the combo in my deck is built without her cards, what I mean is I use her knives to get resources but that's it.
    Once I created very strong deck for Phoenix (I dropped it after win vs expert Venom Goblin), it was ally spam, but way more efficient than anyone else (single Team Training, 2 Uncanny X men to get it ASAP, 3 Team Building Exercises, you want 2 on table, Utopia: you can easily play 2 allies per turn, they have extra 2HP and as examples, with TBE: Colossus costs 1, Storm 2, Angel 0, Beast 2 but returns resource card, Pixie 0 AND replaces herself) surprisingly it was reasonably quick as well, it looks very generic but when I tried to do something similar in Storm it failed, Storm has to get out her cape and headband thingy while both Phoenix and Psylocke do have some upgrades and supports, you don't really need them - the one for skills for Psylocke is cool if you build for it, the rest is meh, Phoenix suit, unless you need Aerial is borderline useless (and you don't need it for ally spam)
    This post might be bit chaotic but what I want to say, you can build some combo from aspect cards without worrying too much about their own cards and actually you get some free resources from start to quicken build up

    I liked the review. I felt it was succinct and informative. However, I personally like the longer more exhaustive style of videos. But that's a personal preference. I imagine that the shorter videos are better for viewer retention and slightly less workload on your part. So I would completely understand if this was the style going forward. That's just my opinion, and I'm greatly for the content regardless. 👍

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The viewer retention is definitely better but I'm not super worried about that. Given the feedback so far, and honestly my own preference, I expect X-23's and Deadpool's reviews will be back around the 40-60 minute mark!
      Thanks and appreciated!

    Psylocke is my favorite X force so far. I agree about her doing a lot of what Phoenix does, but better. I do really like Phoenix, but Psylocke existing has dropped her quite a bit for me, unfortunately. I can do most of the same Phoenix builds with her, but better. Still a few things Phoenix has going for her though: X-men trait, Mind Control, easier Psimitar access

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed, Phoenix does have some things though I mostly only care about the X-Men trait of those. Karma + Cerebro > Mind Control (in my opinion!). Of course, I'm sure some people just prefer Phoenix's style over Psylocke which is totally fair.
      Something fun about Psylocke is, even if a new amazing psionic comes along, Psylocke will still have her unique weapon shenanigans and Skill synergy.

    • @heroicskeleton1566
      @heroicskeleton1566 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VillainTheory The Skill synergy is my favorite part. Each new wave, there will be a good chance that we get a new one she can play around with, while psionic is unlikely to get support after this next wave

    Hand size 4 seems to be a very big penalty, but psylocke seems to be a well designed hero to overcome the penalty. The heroes designed from mutant genesis have a lot of cool heroes that make use of both fun and concept

    Float Like a Butterfly and Upside the Head look so amazing for these confuse heavy heroes. I'm going to have to house rule the stalwart villains to steady at this point or they will never see play ever again given how many cards and heroes are based around confuse and stun.

    She's my favorite to play from the new wave.
    Is there another hero in the game that can play 2 3 cost cards turn one, not counting opening hands with double resource generators?

    • @VillainTheory
      @VillainTheory  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      She's so good!
      She's up there with Venom who technically can play two 3 cost cards as he discards for a weapon and then can use his hero ability to generate a resource. Of course Star-Lord, though you take an encounter card. And technically Wolverine can play two 3-cost cards Turn 1 if one is an attack through his Claws. But Psylocke definitely does it the easiest and with the most freedom! Sooo good.

    • @weathertopz4368
      @weathertopz4368 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VillainTheory I forgot about Venom. He was one of my favorites for a while in the beginning. That is definitely true about Star-Lord and Wolverine although you definitely have to pay for it. I try not to get too into VE resources but I think an encounter card has an effective resource of 3 and healing three is also estimated to cost 3 ER. But the point is, no one has more first turn potential than her. She was so clunky the first for matches with her but that changed pretty quickly for me.

    I’ll be the different one and say so far I haven’t loved playing Psylocke. I think she’s cool and good and interesting, I love everything about her other than actually playing her, if that makes sense. It feels so fiddly and I feel like the juice isn’t worth the squeeze for me.

    • @VillainTheory

      @@VillainTheory I am going to revisit her at some point. Right now I’m in the early/middle of a huge project. With all of X-23’s cards spoiled I’ve printed out proxies and have made 4 decks, one in each standard aspect, and I’m taking them each true solo against every villain on expert, my goal being to be done before her official release so I can publish decks for people day of. So far I’m through the end of the Red Skull box and she’s been monstrously strong. I’ve only had one loss so far (protection against Mutagen Formula when his stage 3 extra cards included 2 extra attacks)
