Seriously..a Japan series of you and Gary would be EPIC. Japanese culture is amazing, and the country is beautiful. Sushi is my absolute favorite food. And I can imagine you on the open road around Mt. Fuji, and visiting the shrines and temples in Kyoto. I hope you guys at least give this a thought. It would be an epic series. ⛩️

I have eaten natto in Japan. I call it snotto and it is a very acquired taste type of food. Not just the taste is challenging, more so it is the slimy texture that western people have trouble with. For me raw egg is very good in some dishes but I grew up avoiding my Japanese grandmothers sukiyaki because of the raw egg. Fun to see Gary have trouble eating something tbh!

I'm an airplane nerd too! I've always been crazy about commercial passenger planes ever since I was 2 years old! Unfortunately, I never became an airline pilot but I do enjoy flying as a passenger. In fact, I will be flying nearly 20 hours in April from Los Angeles to Bangkok! It's been nearly 12 years since I've been back in Thailand. I had to postpone twice during the pandemic.

Noted the subway entrance a couple of weeks back. And the izakaya and Japanese garden bar simulations. I’d love to see you guys together in actual Japan. Especially a collaboration with Chris Broad. I think that collective would be epic. Japanese beer snacks are subarashii! Fan of Thai and Japanese cuisine(lived in Japanese village for 3 years) and quite a contrast. Thai dishes amalgam of ingredients while traditional Japanese dishes focus on the individual ingredients. Japanese food challenges with drink salaryman and mystery individual ingredients are next level adventures!

Hi Paddy. I have been following your videos since quote some time. I think and I may be wrong such food videos and short videos are not the essence of your videos. I like it when you take unique path and routes where most of the cliche tourists don't reach. But your videos are lacking the pull factor it used to have. I have followed your sri lanka tuk tuk budgetier channel and subsequently yours vietnam, Thailand and Laos vlogs. They all were awesome. But something is missing from since your Combodia vlogs. I understand it's a tiring joh but that's what makes our Sunday to see you do things differently that we only wish for.. just a suggestion from my end in your interest...please don't take it in wrong way...

I'll check this place out for sure next time I'm in CM. I had extreme projectile diarrhoea from a soft shell crab on a Chao Phraya River cruise in Bangkok once, a couple of years before I became Vegan. I never ate seafood again after that 🤣 It was so bad 💩 That's not an accurate representation however of the vegan street food I have tried in Thailand and there's a lot of that too! Good video Paddy,

Not having a go at Japan, but having lived there twice I can honestly say that it's an overrated place. Yes, the beer and sake are good, the sashimi is epic and the people are nice, but it's a boring country with some strange food. I don't know (not you guys in this vid, but in general) how people go on about it. Korea, for me, was a much better experience, and of course living in Thailand now is the best of all. Anyway, good little vid.

I've never been a fan at all of that Japanese curry. It seems fairly popular where I live (a Korean and Japanese expat area) and I just do not get it. Do you like a spicy curry? Nope, not spicy. Complex flavor? Nope. Ketchup is more interesting.
I think the gloopiness was more from the nato (fermented bean paste) than the egg, I can't stomach it either - my ex once made it with raw egg and everything, I nearly hurled!
I once read a history of Japanese curry and it said that curry came to Japan from Britain, not directly from India. This kind of makes sense as Japanese curry is closer to UK school canteen curry than India curry. What ever the origin, Japanese curry is quite pleasant and is massively popular.
