You can also order some vegetarian dish by saying the word "jay" after the name of the dish e.g. ao kao pad jay, ao pad ga prao jay, ao pad thai jay.

no sugar = mai sai nam-tan
no condense milk = mai sai nom-khon
    mixed veggie = pak ruam
    mango = ma-muang
no meat = mai sai nua-sat
note: the word "ao" or "ou" could also mean a naughty F word so please use it with caution !!! 😅

Padthai might be popular among the foreigners but in Thais' eyes is just some ordinary dish and you hardly find an genuine and authentic taste one even around Thailand. Some other menu that I'm more proud of is "boat noodle" Kuay Teao Ruea Nam Tok which truly deserves a national dish status.

my rule since 2009 and teaching my guests for cycling was easy:
look what MOST of the guests (take with) are eating and take the same.
most change it is fresh as a lot of throughout, mean most nothing from yesterday.
look the oil, if dark ... go, look the kitchen, if looks dirty ... go

Lovely to teach Thai language from your friend. It's great to learn more and more because it's hard for foriegners to speak Thai. Meanwhile, English is hard for Thai as well.

    Corrections:
Can I have a fried egg?
= Ao Kai Dow Duay Krab/Ka
(What you put above = Do you want fried egg? .... so you are asking if the shop owner want fried egg????)
    No meat/ Vegetarian
    = Mai Ao Nu-ua Satt Krab/Ka
(Nu-ua = beef and Nu-ua Satt = meat .... but for this they might still use pork fat, fish sauce and egg with your dish)
= Mung Sa Wi Ratt Krab/Ka (this is vegetarian)

This video is great entertainment for all Thais. I am so impressed that foreigners trying to speak the local language the best they can. Reminded me of a few years ago when I went to Paris and with my 2-3 years French knowledge, the French will not give me the time of day! So a Farang teaching another Farang trying to order Thai street food is actually cute especially when Gary showed that the only way to pronounce the word "Aow" correctly is the pinch yourself! I can't help remember the old Thai proverb......'Mother crab trying to teach baby crab how to walk straight!' Please don't get offended, but I actually love both Gary and your Thai accent. I always though one needs to know the melody scales because Thai words pronunciations are exactly that but you two seems to take it to the next level.

Hiya Paddy and Gary, you two gel so well together. Good vibes. Very useful. I love how Gary remembers certain words. He makes it sound so easy. Heard so many other channels share skillshare, but love how you explained it. Made me think I should get it. Gary's name that's a hard one. I think the roaming cook is great. I am no help. 🤣🙃Maybe just his name. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend.
