  • My First Time Disassembling and Reassembling a Vintage Small Monil Dress Watch from 1970's.
Join me as I embark on a journey of restoration, reviving a vintage Monil dress watch from 1970's - 80's that my friends stumbled upon at a flea market.
Monil dress watches with the 69-21ST movement with 17 jewels are a classic and elegant choice for women.
The Monil 69-21ST movement with 17 jewels was introduced in the 1970s and was produced until the early 1980s.
So, we estimate that the Monil dress watch with the 69-21ST movement with 17 jewels was released between the 1970s and the early 1980s.
The 17-jewel version of the 69-21ST movement is likely a less common version of the same movement.
The origin of Monil is unclear. While some sources claim that Monil is a Swiss brand, there is no definitive evidence to support this claim. Monil watches have been produced in various countries, including Switzerland, South Korea, and China. The "Swiss Made" designation on some Monil watches may indicate that the movement was made in Switzerland, but the case and other components could have been made elsewhere.

how did you clean the movement? What kind of detergent and tools are you using?

I'm using isopropyl alcohol and an ultrasonic cleaner. The alcohol I put it in little jars with the watch parts. Then I put the jars in water in the ultrasonic cleaner. The tools that I use are not the cheapest, but they do the job. I don't put the watch in water because they get rusted.
