Labo comparability in Mario kart is actually pretty cool. The problem is whoever designed the controls for the Labo kits did NOT test them. They are the most complicated and unnatural experience ever created.
I tested labo vehicle kit in mario kart and had no problems. Guy in the video is just horrible.
Git gud. Seriously, it's nowhere near as bad as you say it is, I can do decent time trials on 200cc with Labo wheel.

No, we need MK9. I got bored of Deluxe within a week; it's just the Wii U game with a couple new modes.
I understand that MK8D is just a port but creating another Mario Kart for Switch will only serve to divide the community.
Switch is a great console but it has nothing to offer that could not be done on WiiU.
So I think that with more DLCs that includes 2 cups, 2 characters and a battle arena could be enough to keep the game fresh.
Imagine adding to the game characters like Pauline, King K Rool, Petey Piranha, Wingler, ROB, ..... along with new and retro tracks...

If anyone wants to use the Vehicle Kit for MK8D, turn Auto-Accelerate on so you just bother using the pedal for drifting. That's what it seems like.

I feel like the proper method for doing this should've been using the right lever to fire items, left to drift, horn as alternate item button.

They should have made it that the turning things look behind you and pushing the things down makes you drift
What's "Item aiming"? Is that just holding the item behind you?
The levers don't work because it uses the joy con's IR sensor, likely that the Mario Kart dev had no idea how to incorporate it properly.
When I see these levers pocking out of the side I can't help but see shoulder boutons and be think that horn should be shoot forward, R should be drifting and L shoot backwards.
PS: Mario Kart Wii style, mostly for efficiency, reversal could be leting go of the gas pedal and holding the drifting lever. That string thing you can pull on could be used to press start.

You can do everything except for look back with the motorbike toy-con, easier too.
I'd want a sort of pedal stomp, Cruisin' USA style, to drift, but I'm not sure how the cardboard would hold up being stomped on
Why you didn't push the joycon all the way down in the pedal??? When it sticks out like that it makes it only makes it harder to drive.

Need help pls. My labo wheel and pedal couldnt recognized by mario kart.
I did these steps:
1. Checked if both joy cons are connected
2. Checked batteries of joy cons
Yeah, the left lever should have been drifting, and the right one to look back. Still no backwards item throwing :/ The cord you pull is also unused.
Simulates you pressing down on the breaks and gas at the same time
I bet there will be a proper steering wheel for the switch in the future, since labo it's just a big clever and weird switch marketing

This looks fun and all, but the inability to throw items backwards (or forwards, in the case of bananas), never mind how hard it must be to even simply steer and hold an item behind you at the same time, probably kills this.
Unless you're deliberately looking for a handicap when playing with family, I guess?
I usually let go of the gas to get better turns but when I use labo everytime I let go of the gas pedal to slow down and I press it again it initiates a drift. Then when I let go to remove the drift and press the pedal again it drifts again.

Yep this pretty much kills it as an actual control option for MK.
It's a shame cause the motorbike and steering wheel work pretty well otherwise. I feel like they would be a better fit in say a sim/arcade racer.
They should've use the 2 levels on the side of the steering wheels for the power slide
They really messed up on the control system. Hope they get it fixed with some options to personalize controls cause this could be awesome.

They probably should have gone with the double pump the gas like the arcade game.
My main problem with it was having to have that stupid cardboard box on your lap when you're driving. You can see from this video that you have to keep re-adjusting the wheel to keep it from moving.
Might have been fun if the "flippers" were to use items.

Lol...you know as fun as it looks...I have to admit..at 30 years old...I may come off as a bit silly looking, holding a cardboard steering wheel in my lap...
And this is why I prefer normal controllers. I mean, we already look way dumb enough holding a small thing and mashing buttons with our eyes glued to a screen, let's not go any further x)
I really wish I had the Labo wheel.
Also, I noticed how the wheel's used in the game it resembles that of that MK Arcade version.

Just saw this video and have not had labo kits for long and have only made the steering wheel and the accelerator. I cant not get MK8D to see or recognise that I am using labo.....EVEN though I went to the Labo settings and selected the labo toy on car......even in the game I though that maybe it was because I was using the bike but i relised it should not make a difference same for the type of game. Does anybody have any clue on how to actual make MK8D recognise I am using labo......cos when i pause the game the labo kit is not displayed in the pause menu ....only the stgeering wheel as if i had the white plastic one

I don’t understand why Nintendo was so lazy and didn’t enable the IR sensor and use any of the other controls on the toy-con car. And if they did that and made another button for drift they would be able to have analog throttle. I wish Nintendo just gave 100% more often if not all the time, most recent examples, this, and the online.

I'm pretty sure a real wheel and pedal is more expensive from my experience, plus they don't come with a game. Which the toy con 3 is pretty much a full game

Fuck this then. What is the point of it if it doesn't have analogue acceleration, it doesn't use the rip-cord, it doesn't use the levers, and it doesn't use the reverse lever? And you use items by pressing the horn in the centre? Gee, that makes so much sense! What a disappointment.

I would’ve loved for this to truly work. It looks absolutely terrible :( MARIO kart takes a lot of turning left to right very quickly, drifting at the same time as using an item. If you’re truly going to want to win, do not use this lol
That's terrible. They need a notch or some type of feedback to tell you when you are at full speed.

Pushing only slightly on the pedal will create a very early durability problem for the boxes. They will get worn out to that spot fast.

I found this unbearable to watch. Crashing walls constantly, lots of rushed monologue with no breaks, and unnecessary setup and troubleshooting mistakes. I’m not here to bash. This is my first time watching one of your videos, and thought you might appreciate how a new viewer sees it. Also, I imagine part of the terrible driving is because of how strangely the wheel operates.
