    Sprawled across a massive city, Los Angeles is the second largest city in America and it feels it. Made up of movies stars, wannabes, surfers and heavy traffic, LA offers a metropolis of attractions.
    There are lots of things to see and do in LA but make sure you hire a car or buy a sightseeing bus ticket, as getting across LA can be expensive. Check out the celebrity homes, Hollywood signs and Hollywood Boulevard.
    Best time to visit Los Angeles
    Southern California is sunny almost all year round, with average temperatures of 21 - 27°C. This makes LA the ideal vacation destination, any time of the year. However, the best time to visit Los Angeles is march to May and September to November, when there are less crowds and less humidity.
    July and August are the hotted months, with temperatures as high as 113°F / 45 °C.
    If you are on a budget, the cheapest month to visit LA is February; with lower temperatures attracting less tourists.

    I am a local with a couple comments - I would definitely rent a car - public transportation is tricky and like the video says, LA is very spread out and many things are not near public transportation (I have personally almost never used it and I've lived here my entire life). I would not stay any where for under ~$200/day (yes, LA is expensive). Rush hour is from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. I had a job less than 10 miles from my home - literally took me 45 min. to get there at 8:00 am. You will spend a great deal of time in traffic - hence why we talk about how far away something is in time, instead of distance. 10 miles...45 min. Some less touristy places to visit - Long beach, Hermosa/Redondo/Manhatten beach, Pasadena. Hollywood has gotten very touristy, but better than it used to be (it was frightening a few decades ago). The Getty Center is amazing. I could hang out at the Huntington Library (close to Pasadena) all day. There are some very bad areas in Los Angeles as well. Be careful and do not just wonder into neighborhoods. As a local, I'm used to always being aware of my surroundings and the people around me. You need to do the same. Overall, though, LA is cool.

      Thank you os much for your feedback - this is great! Yes we found renting a car was the easiest way to get around but the traffic is a struggle! Thanks for sharing the lesser known places to visit, we will have to explore more when we return!

      any advice for a 21 year old? car rentals will be super expensive for me. the LA metro system makes the most sense. i might even buy a bike

    • @daranjjohnson
      @daranjjohnson 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@haseebhussain998 If you are staying within a small area, a bike could work. I rode a bike for a couple years. Some people use the metro - but it’s not very efficient, it can take a while to get where you want to go. If you’re coming to visit and sightsee, you’ll definitely want a car. Everything is miles apart and public transportation is just not great. LA is terrible with that.

    Important point from a Southern California Local: One thing that a lot of these travel videos gloss over or confuse is that Santa Monica, Venice beach, Hollywood, Anaheim(Where Disneyland is located), etc are all in the city of LA. The places I just mentioned are all separate cities and Disneyland is not even located in Los Angeles County it's in Orange County. I think this is what confuses people about LA and why you need a rental car. You do not visit southern California just to see The City of Los Angeles, you visit to see the city of LA and all the surrounding cities and counties. The confusion comes from the fact that most the cities mentioned are in Los Angeles County which spans 4,083 square miles (10,570 km2) and is made up of 88 cities, so when people say they are visiting LA or they live in LA, they most likely mean they live or are visiting one of the 88 cities that make up LA County or even Orange county, so that can be confusing. There are actually 5 counties that make up what is called The Greater Los Angeles area which is 34,000 square miles and has a population of about 19,000,000. So The City of Los Angeles is just one of the 88 cities that make up Los Angeles County, which is just one County, out of 5 counties, that make up the Greater Los Angeles Area, add in San Diego County to the south and that is basically all of Southern California. So yeah a rental car and at least a week (2 weeks would be best) long trip is ideal

    • @CreativeTravelGuide
      @CreativeTravelGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much for explaining that - it is really helpful! We loved visiting the other areas of the county so would recommend car rentals but would you recommend a car rental for those just staying in the actual Greater Los Angeles area or do you think public transport is enough?

    Tip: The “Star Homes” Tours are a great way to see the Hollywood Hills, Beverly Hills, and some other sights. I am generally pretty skeptical about most of the homes they point out as being actual celebrity homes, but you get to see some amazing houses and amazing views. You can find a ton in Hollywood, but ALWAYS negotiate the price. I have gotten them for as much as 50% off by simply telling them it was too much and starting to walk away. Be prepared to tip the driver though.

      yes u should totally come over here! if you do ever end up going i recommend not going to the hollywood walk of fame. the video said u should but trust me it’s dirty, smells, and is filled with weirdos. no actual la residents really go there because it’s not all that. it’s mostly just filled with tourists.im not stopping u from going because u might want to go see the walk of fame or hollywood sign but im just letting u know😭.if u do go i totally recommend going to places such as little tokyo, rodeo, or mel rose. you can also go to downtown la since that’s where all the buildings are at but it’s also filled with lots of homeless. though it’s not really all that bad there.ALSO you should definitely visit “the broad” it’s an art museum but it’s super cool. u can go on google and see some of the inside if u ever wanna decide to go. i hope this helped:)

    LA native here. Overall, good video - however it rarely gets 113F (45C). In the summer, typically a high of 80F (26C) at the beaches, 90F (32C) downtown, 100F (38C) in the inland valleys.
    Los Angeles’ Mediterranean climate means summers with warm days and cool nights, esp along the coast, and generally very low humidity, esp compared to the rest of the United States. Coastal fog April - June, but little if any rain mid April-mid Nov. Overall, LA, along with San Diego, has some of the best climate in the US.

One can get tacos anywhere in the US and the ones in LA are meh at best. I also highly recommend Porto's Bakery, which I think is the best bakery in all of SoCal and is beloved by locals. I encourage all visitors to check out Heritage Square Museum, Carroll Ave, Wayfarers Chapel, The Broad Museum, Huntington Library, the Getty Center, and the Bradbury Building. No it is not. I live here and can't wait to move out. There is so much crime here and the DA refuses to press any charges. Trespassing, drug use (needles), prostitution, theft, and burglary are not chargeable offenses in LA County. Cops don't do anything because they're afraid to get sued. Such is the life in LA thanks to all the liberals in charge.

      It’s massive. Most people have no idea how huge it is. It’s 16 miles (25 km) just from downtown to the beach. “Greater Los Angeles” is 33,954 square miles (87,940 square km).

      Obviously, a vacation in Los Angeles
      does not appeal to everyone. Some people prefer small town USA, or a national park (or national forest). All good.
