My first dog lived to be 17 years old, she was a sheltie cocker spaniel mix I think. My second dog lived to be 16 and she was a springer lab mix. And I just lost my cat a couple months ago, he was 18 years old. In other words, I know what it's like to have elderly animals. It's tough sometimes. For all three of those animals, I had to make the tough decision at the end. I remember wishing that they would just go to sleep and take that decision away from me. But they didn't. I owed it to them to let them go peacefully. But damn, it's hard. It is so hard to lose them.
#replay You are the only Vet that tells the truth. Their is no vet I have seen that puts food and the vaccine and getting sick and keeping them sick. Thank you for all your research and hard work to keep our pets healthy!!!
My sweet Siamese cat is now over 20 years and going strong. 😍😍She has none of these signs...yay! Key is good, real food, some supplements, a good cat friend, lots of love...and no white coats visits. She's amazing and glad for each day.
Lots of invaluable information, thank you. My 15 yo Miniature American Shepherd has lost 99, if not 100%, of his hearing and sleeps most of the day. He still wants to keep his 2 younger “brothers” in line, which makes me smile❤
I have a 8 year old Jack Russell Terrier who loves walks and chasing balls but I noticed she’s slowing down -- and it makes me sad 😢she’s getting older and can’t imagine being without her ❤I love her!
Very helpful information- all good to know. Thank you. I saw new pacing in my Lab (then age 11.) I attributed this to a move from the only home my girl had known and leaving her "dad" behind until the old home sold. Her anxiety was through the roof, and I was walking her for hours every day. Later we found out she also had cancer of the spleen. When we know better we do better.....
My 16 year old Maltese mix has lost more and more of her hearing especially this past year and also has CCD which has been a tough road. Needs to go out more and more as well. Would love to see a video presentation on dogs with CCD. Thank you for covering the senior decline issue on this video
My 17 year old dog seemed to get sick out of no where. She was always pretty active, but after she lost her sister, she would sleep under the bench at the foot of the bed. I thought she was depressed so I got her a puppy companion and it didn't help. Turned out she had kidney failure, I wish I had paid more attention, my other dog was my sickly one and she was my healthy girl up until her last week or so.
I've had two boxers my first Boxer had cancer in his mouth I lived until he was 10 and a half years old my second boxer got cancer five surgeries what does tumors came back and he lived until he was 13 and 1/2 years olds I have Shepherd that I found in the street 11 years old cancer as well so now I have a 8 month puppy American Staffordshire can I have the best veterinarian doctor in the world I do blood test every 6 months that's how paranoid I am
My 14 year old poodle bichon crossed the rainbow bridge the night before Thanksgiving. He had kidney disease which I was managing with home made food and later he had most of his teeth taken out. After so many antibiotics I figured his microbiome was shot. A month before he got very sick He was sleeping a lot and not wanting to walk as much. I noticed he was shedding a lot more. Some days were better than others. He had pee and poo accidents which I managed with food and taking him to the bathroom more often. To make story short the day he had his Vet appointment his hind legs were failing and he suddenly collapsed. We rushed him to emergency and found that he was bleeding in his abdomen and had a tumor in the spleen. He was so weak from blood loss. If I had taken a look at his gums I would had taken him to the vet months earlier. Please check your dogs gums, shedding, and excessive sleeping. My dog must have been bleeding little by little for months and there was no way of knowing. Thank you Dr. Judy I wished I had this information earlier, could have given my dog a few more months.
😢 35+ of dogs and this one took me completely off guard… lost a dog 9 years old had him from birth to death, (still have his mum of 12 yrs) sadly she just been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, and I still have his 2 brothers from same litter) because I didn’t recognise or connect some of these signs that thinking back started to manifest about 6 months ago (panting, occasional shaking, increased nervousness and few not mentioned) he was always very active, even that morning, but then in a space of 2-3 hours his last morning lost colour in gums etc, cold to touch, slow to move, rushed him to vet by this time I had to carry him, an ultrasound found there was blood surrounding his heart and before we could do anything else he died😢 Keep a dairy, get some basic knowledge and monitor your companions regularly
Will I have noticed since you mentioned vocalizing ever since I had my 7 year old Boston terrier neutered he come out of their kind of hyped up and he's been more like that at times ever since then and he is more vocal.
I have a Boston terrier who is 7 now but I've noticed just off and on for a couple years now he just goes to things like the refrigerator or by the table or into a little area and stares at the wall but he hears me when I talk to him and stuff and he can see but he's had ear problems I know that now but I never thought he was old enough to be like or anything going on with his eyes seems like a lot of things I'm noticing now.
I have five praying mantids, all seniors,I know that time is drawing near, but they still have good quality of life,it’s just they’re slowing down and feeling their age.
My younger sister who is in her mid 30’s refuses to hear any type of alternative information regarding holistic health and having her dog eat fresh healthy food. Not sure why people refuse to hear all options. Her dog eats Costco dog brand kibble.
Ask your sister how she'd thrive eating cereal once, twice daily because that's basically what extruder processed kibble is. To make the dough for the extruder, it must contain starch that breaks down to sugar with cancer a metabolic disease. The legumes in kibble, pea protein, plant foods break down to sugar. It's difficult dealing with people who are ostriches so I feel for you.
Cushings? I know taking prednisone can cause cushings syndrome. Probably a specific test a vet needs to do. Is from over production of cortisol which long term prednisone can cause.
its the food they are eating. I make mine and they all have not had a disease but do decline of age close to 20 for dogs and cats older then twenty. Change to home made food cooked by you with recipes approved by a vet with supplements for the food. Balance it autobalancer try it

It’s the most difficult thing to say goodbye to them. The most difficult. ♥️😔

I hate when they get old it's too much suffering I just wish they can live at least a little bit more for their ages😢😢😢
