I recommend doing a seafort after finishing a fishing session. After taking what feels like 5 minutes to clear them out, you can use the 4 pans to cook all of your fish. Plus, if you find the storeroom key, you'll also get a free mermaid gem.
yes oh my god. There is no way I'm gonna cook my fish in the ships pan after a 2 - 4 hour fishing session. It literally does make it 4x faster when using the sea fort one and it's also got treasure too
I met a guy who was at a fof not for the loot but literally just for the fish. I left him alone, gave him all the bait we had, gems we got from the fof, and sailed him to the nearest seapost to turn in his fish and gems. He was 47 with hunters call. I felt like he wasn’t going to do anything because he sounded dead inside.
Sounds just like a friend of mine , give him a stool and he will be grateful for it. Edit; not a friend anymore , but dead inside, super unstable and probably a threat to society.
Weirdly enough you can also fish pondies at sea forts at the lowest floor, where the water is. This is perfect because you can use the 4 frying pans in these forts. If you have a friend, one can fish while the other one can cook the fish immediatly.
@@almightyderpy Not a specific one, but just look out for one at the edge of the map with a sea post nearby. For example Traitor's Fate or Ancient Gold.
@@almightyderpy I'd say the furthest left Sea Fort in the Shores of Plenty call "Imperial Crown Fortress", anchor behind the Fort with your ship facing the Red Sea. It'll be really hard to spot your ship & the probability of getting bothered by another player is quite low. Fish on the Front of the Fort or Inside the fort in the undercroft. If you have another person with you, fish in the undercroft, if you're solo I'd recommend the front to watch for any approaching Ships. Happy Fishing :)
On mermaids, you can go fishing on the rock in the middle of the lake ! Mobs will spawn but don't worry, they will fight eachother (ghosts vs skels or others..)
I got a tip. With the update you can purchase meat selection from the woman on the deck. You can go to a few outposts and buy loads. Then clear a sea fort and use the 4x stove to cook them all
Yeah, I was gonna say, instead of buying the meat selection you can still use mermaids hideaway but go to a fort when you feel like you have enough and start cooking on the way to the nearest fort because I'm pretty sure it's a ways a way. I'm sure the meat selection would be faster tho.
I believe the return on investment of just buying the meat from the shipwright isn't very good. The payout in gold and rep for regular meat is almost nothing. You're probably better off buying the bait assortment and using it up to get the other types of fish, as well as selling them you merm/siren gems.

Just anchor somewhere (I like to park near rock formations so that I'm hidden from one side and can watch the other as I fish), and just fish until I go crosseyed. Then I usually go quickly clear a sea fort to use the kitchen there to cook 4 at once. The main takeaway from this video is the quick mention that you can sell Mermaid/Siren Gems (and Breath of the Sea) to Hunter's Call for rep, so if you find a coral bottle while isle hopping, consider selling the gems/breath you get to the Hunters.
It's not really about the pondies vs. the splashtails themselves, but the fact that ponds are smaller so you can often not have to fight the fish as much. In the ocean you often have to tire the fish out 2-3 times, in a pond you can typically catch it only tiring it out once.
The ponds are a confined space rather than open ocean, meaning the pondies can only swim a few feet away from you, and you can reel them in from tiring them out just once.
Fastest way is definitely to do Siren Shrines. You get siren gems, mermaid gems, breath of the sea and coral treasure chests, which can all be turned in with hunters call.
If you sword lunge over to the rock by the cliff in the pond on Mermaid's Hideaway you will mostly be safe from PVE enemies. Also treasure chests can be sold to the Hunter's Call as well as gems.
Treasure chests don't give any reputation though (for any of the factions), so it doesn't matter. The only reason to sell them to hunter's call is if you were using them to hold mermaid gems and want to get rid of them.
Just start separating your loot you get from mermaid gems and sell those to them much faster and more efficient than grinding by getting nothing for 30 fish
Park on SW side of Mermaids to better hide ship or, better yet, scuttle if you're in a duo. Your Treacherous Plunder can chill out for up to two hours while you sail back to collect. Even better yet is a galleon crew fishing at Crows Nest for better Ancient Skelly chances. A better use of your time is dropping all gems off at seaposts as you grind up to PL, then rock some Thieves Haven Runs on Community Day for a gemsplosion to put you up to 50 no probs. Def use this method to grind out your pondies commendations tho.
I used to do the Mermaids Hideaway spot, but my game would regularly crash if I spent too much time on island. I think it's because people activate a vault voyage that's located there and the island trying to load the voyage with me on it cause crash.
I use Devil's Ridge for this method. There is a rock you can stand on in at the edge of the pond that helps shield from baddies and only takes about a single reel to catch the pondies. Plus, there is a fishing pan right next to it so you can cook without returning to the ship.
Regarding cooking fish, if you're not sure, it's perfectly cooked (worth the most gold) when the eye turns white. This goes for every type of fish in the game.

A better version is go to crows nest fortress it's smaller easier and no spawns. Also I sail my ship away and fish for awhile when ik it's sunk then I'll bury the chest when done and sail back to get it. Makes it to where people don't know you're there

I'm leveling up hunter's call without fishing, i just sell them all the jewels i found, i think that's the easiest way. Going to a mermaid's treasure or a sanctuary you can get a ton of jewels.
Weird that your Thumbnail showed "Level 50" .... and the fact that you'd settle for using just your Ship's Stove instead of going to a cleared out Seafort and using their kitchen (4 pans) to cook way faster?

There was a bug for some time in witch you could cath pondies on sea forts me with my buddy leveld like 8 levels of hunters call with one sesion. And ee could coock them faster.
Here's a little secret do the mermaid treasuries there is one next to mermaid hideaway they often are stacked with lots of gems you can get up to 6 or even more but it's rng It's also a nice break from the fishing
i leveled my hunter call up when they had the option to turn in Dublooms for 1 level upgrade and you could do it as many times as you wanted. Dublooms have no real worth in the game and i have a ton of them
Great guide! This is exactly what I except for one difference I go to crow’s best fortress it has the smallest pond in the game and no skellies spawn (if the forts not active) mermaids is great though!
If you're really going to fish, then go all out and join the Hunter's call discord and join their galleon crews. There's no point in running a sloop for fishing, that's unbelievably slow. If you don't wanna fish, then just sell your mermaid gems that you collect to the fishing posts and it'll level passively. If you really care about the number on your hunters call, but wanna bitch about fishing being boring, then shut up and be patient on those mermaid gems. Actually doing the commendations for hunters call will give you way more than enough rep to max it out, so either go for that legendary hunter title or relax. I see too many people complaining about leveling it up, there's literally no reason for you to level it if you're going to whine about it the whole time. Just play the game how you want man, those pixels are only worth as much as you want them to at the end of the day.
Load up on bait crates, go to ancient isles, find the ship wreck case to the seaport and sea fort, fish for wreckers and ancient scales until you run out of bait. Cook at the sea fort, sell at the sea post. Win!!

Not to mention the forts themselves are often loaded with splashtails
I recommend taking over the fort first then fishing for pondies in the bottom of the fort. I have not seen anyone mention they spawn there.

This is quite possibly the worst way to level up. I tried this a while back, cooked hundreds of meat, and didn't even level up from 21 to 22.

Neat little trick to perfectly cook your fish every time: if the fish's eye has turned white, it's perfectly cooked.

I go to a small island in the devils roar to pondie fish while my teammate catches devil fish

Good guide but using spanisch Forts is better, beat it and move your ship behind it. Also no skellys and so on will spawn there
