Two useful tips I found helpful: 1) While fishing for regionless fish, (Islehoppers, Battlegills, Wreckers, Stormfish) never fish in regions competing for the same bate i.e. Wreckers in the wilds, Battlegills in Devils Roar, or Stormfish in Ancient Isles where that region’s fish will disrupt the spawn rate of the fish you’re grinding. 2) When grinding the illusive Shadow Stormfish, much like your Raven Islehopper tip, if you fish at the uncharted islands, (Sea Dog Tavern, K9, N13) and a Stormfish spawns in the daytime it will be a Shadow guaranteed. This is due to all stormfish being region-locked except the rare and night variant and the uncharted islands being non-regional.
My favorite fish to catch are the Battlegills. I love just chilling by a world event fishing while another crew is trying to complete it. "Don't mind me, just getting some fishing in..." I think the Twilight Stormfish is my favorite looking fish.
Don't forget the center rock for shadow storm fish. If you don't know the center rock has regional fish only shadow and twighlight spawn. So the pool of fish only has splash tales and shadow storm fish
Twilight Stormfish. It was the very "cool" albeit not as rare, fish I caught and was quite impressed with in game. The colors are just really cool through the stormy waters as you are fighting to bring it in
I love all of the Devil's Roar fish, they're so mean looking, I feel like a badass whenever I reel them in! lmao. Other than that, I love the Starfish.
thought I would tell you all since synicall didn't provide more information, the shores of gold pond is on the south east at the top of a waterfall, you need to find a spot where your line doesn't instantly snap and I suggest standing on top of the rock so that way as long as no skeletons with guns spawn you can't be killed
My favourite fish is Umber Splashtail. It looks like a Shrouded Ghost, which gives me a hope that I will find one (or preferebly 5 for the Legendary Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost commendation)
The snow wrecker. When searching in a sunken ship me and friend found it and he said he was gonna hold onto it until we got to sea post just in case. He showed me what it looked like while holding it out and half the fish vanished. We then realized pets could eat food. 🤣 Needless to say we avoided pets for a while but made it a quest to find the fish naturally a few weeks later. Good memories.
I solo'd hunter's call to 100% For anyone starting (and aren't a big fan of fishing or just sitting around) I would just check all barrels and shipwrecks passively while playing and getting your other commendations You need many fish at this point and you will find many fish and it allows you to also do other stuff while passively progressing with HC. You will find rares in barrels and over time you will start grade V'ing a lot of common fish and get a good start on rare fish. Rng is a giant pain while fishing so unless you enjoy it do the least amount possible by taking advantage of shipwrecks and barrels. You could sit there for hours technically and not encounter a rare (it's happened to me plenty of times) You'll be able to get a lot more in the game done if you incorporate a passive method and you won't burn out if you wait until the end to target the last of the specific fish you need. The new merchant voyages make shipwrecks even easier (they nerf'd the clue barrels with the last patch so you don't find fish along the way anymore but you still have the shipwreck to check) My very last shadow stormfish was from a merchant shipwreck. Blackcloud wreckers are pretty common in shipwreck barrels and are a huge pain to hunt (you need a storm at a shipwreck) so unless you happen to to see a shipwreck in a storm I would wait till the very end when you grind them out so you have the least amount possible to fish for
My favorite fish undisputedly is the stormfish. This fish is my favorite because it's a blast to catch when your ship is in chaos because of the storm.
Yesterday took a storage crate to crows nest fortress with another friend, got 75 fish in around an hour and 15 minutes its gotta be the best pondie farming method, thanks synicall!
My favorite fish is the blackcloud Wrecker because for me is the most challenging fish to catch because of the required storm and shipwreck, I hope I get the 50 of them soon.
I really like the Blackcloud Wrecker and the Amethyst Islehopper. The glow of both of these on the line are fantastic. I would also like to note that you can attempt to catch the Shadow Stormfish during the day at the Seadog's outpost. It is just like the Raven Islehopper in concept.
My favourite type of fish is the shadow storm fish because they are so rare and I love how you only can catch them in a storm( I think). Also definitely the best sea of thieves youtuber out there keep up the good work
I quite like the look of Isle Hoppers. Those big eyes are great. Combine that with the green colour of the Moss variant and I call that a big win for the night.
Thanks for the video. Can confirm as of 7/6/22 the shore of gold trick still works, tho you will have to deal with skeles and the occasional pondie that grabs the hook.
My favorite fish is the firelight devilfish, I love how devilfish looks and the glowing fire-like pattern on the firelight devilfish makes it look so much better
Just finished my legendary hunter of the sea of thieves. TIP: if doing storm fish just like the raven islehopper if you fish in the uncharted islands in N9 and N13 or the sea dogs tavern you can only catch shadow and the night variant of the storm fish. My favourite fish would probably the pondies because they were the easiest to do (left them for last) and was a nice refreshing finish.
Thanks for the tips very helpful now as far as my favorite fish I would have to say the forsaken devilfish takes the bait for me. Keep up the good work I look forward to your future tutorials.
For shadow stormfish, try to fish in a storm at the arena hideout, it doesn't count as a region, so if its daytime, all stormfish there are shadow stormfish.
My fav is the one that got away ... Trophy Shadow Stormfish. Had one on the line at Lone Cove and two clicks before getting it a skelly straight slapped me and lost it. Oh my days.
Mermaids hideaway also seems to de a good spot to get raven islehopper, it gave amethyst at night and i got 2 ravens there, however crooks hollow only gave me stone islehoppers, devils ridge also gave me amethyst
There's a way to get guaranteed shadow stormfish, if you get a storm over the sea dogs tavern the only stormfish that spawn in that area are shadow likely because the game doesn't consider it part of any of the 4 regions. You gotta have insane levels of luck to use this knowledge to begin with but hey ho the more you know
Two 2am brain confused myself.
Crooks Hollow - night time for raven isle hopper
Crooked masts - day time for raven isle hooper
I was in both places for almost hour and didnt found any. :(
I found a trophy one at wanders refuge during a ashen winds
@@realumbriel Lucky you then, i still didnt found any.
@@graven6102 well i wish you luck finding one.
Does this method still work? I'm struggling to find any

Don't forget the center rock for shadow storm fish. If you don't know the center rock has regional fish only shadow and twighlight spawn. So the pool of fish only has splash tales and shadow storm fish
What/where is the center rock?
"You'll need to TACKLE the rarest fish in the sea of thieves..."
I see what you did there 😏
Twilight Stormfish. It was the very "cool" albeit not as rare, fish I caught and was quite impressed with in game. The colors are just really cool through the stormy waters as you are fighting to bring it in
My favourite fish is the incredibly rare and prestigious sunny splashtail. I am always so lucky and catch it every time, even without bait
I love all of the Devil's Roar fish, they're so mean looking, I feel like a badass whenever I reel them in! lmao. Other than that, I love the Starfish.
I love the seafoam splashtail! The colour and light is so pretty. Love the content, keep it up!
