    Bob, you are an absolute star. considerably older we have camping history going back 60 years and like you and Jennie we are now MH ers. During lockdown we have spent many hours watching and re- watching your vlogs. SO the latest re run has been the Fiamma Privacy room ,from one who is generally very even tempered ,except where hosepipes and awnings are concerned , I congratulate you on your stoicism and amazing good humour when erecting this instrument of torture. If we ever cross on our travels I would be delighted to buy both you and Jennie a large beer. happy Vanning Steve and Pauline

    Thanks Bob. This has been a great series so far, and so useful for us newbies. Its just the sort of thing I spent hours hunting for in the lead up to when we first hired for a two week tour around Scotland, where we stayed everywhere ranging from a quite wild camp in a forest to a serviced pitch at Englethwaite Hall. Simple, sensible and useful advice was really hard to find and this series ticks every box. Thanks very much!

    Revisiting these new to Motorhome videos now, having finally taken the plunge and bought one! I've been absorbing all these over the last couple of years so hopefully I should be ok with the basics thanks to these excellent videos. I am now watching through to see how long water hose I need, I'm sure its within this goldmine of useful videos somewhere. These things you don't really think of at first!

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll find some details on my blog under essential accessories. I think I thought a 10m hose was long enough, but not if you're on a serviced pitch.

    • @adrianpipe3323
      @adrianpipe3323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Bob, I shall take a look. My fear is looking silly at a service point attempting to get the hose to the tank and being 5 inches short! The one I bought doesn’t have anything with it so need to kit out with ramps, electricity cable etc. so it’s ready to go. The essential accessories one will be really handy to look back on, thanks.

    Another really informative vlog, Thank you so much for these, we have been caravanning for 30 years, but some things are going to be different for us with a motorhome. Pleased to see you pointing out the 5MPH limit on CMC sites, sadly we have witnessed too many people not observing this, including some wardens doing a lot more than that on the Gaitiors and jumping over the speed humps, and even going the wrong way on a one way system! Not a good example. Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing you, Jenny and Poppy on your first post lockdown adventure. Take care.

    Wish we had a video like this when we first started caravanning. We now have the Motorhome and as you know have yet to venture out for the first time. It's really good to have a refresher course and you have explained everything so clearly to any newbies out there so well too. I suppose my only anxiety is to where to park the Motorhome when visiting places of interest. Do you plan ahead or just go and take a chance on the parking? It would be very interesting to hear your views.....maybe Jenny has a spreadsheet on this and if not why not cos I'd love to see it lol - Lin xx

    Stupid question for motorhomers, just bought one and obviously am completely new. If you get one of those adaptors for your water tank inlet, do you still need to use your water pump to feed the van or do you use the local system pressure? Virgin motorhomer but mechanical engineer, so please keep the responses within the laws of phisycs!

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  ปีที่แล้ว

      The motorhome has a inboard pump that is pressure sensing, when a tap is opened, it pumps water from the inboard water tank, through to the taps and into the small water heater Boiler. The adapter is just for ease of fill, so you don't stand there holding a hose pipe. There is an attachment for an external pump that can pump water from an external tank (Aquaroll) into the internal tank. I did a whole series for people new to motorhomes -

    Hello Bob and Jenny. We are new to Motorhoming and pick our first one up in September. We have spent many hours and evenings watching your very helpfull and invaluable videos.
    We have just watched this video again regarding first arrival on a site.
    Do you have a single blue hose for filling with water, either from the MSP of the serviced pitch post? What length of blue water hose do you recommend?
    Thanks Chris and Cath

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's best to get a 20m hose. I've got a shorter hose too and sometimes it does not reach, especially on service pitches.

    Hi, can you tell me what the average cost of a service pitch per night is and the approx cost for electric please. maybe a weekly example for a service pitch with electric. Thank you

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I can't give you an average price. Best thing to do is have a look at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Website, or watch my Arriving At videos. See www.caravanclub.co.uk/ It varies depending on the number of people, time of year, day of the week. Electricity is included on club sites.

    Great videos,very helpful. I'm new to motorhomeing and thinking of buying a Niesman Bischoff which has a sewage tank rather than cassette, will this be a problem on British campsites; presumably I will have to park near to the chemical waste point, as possible and run a pipe over and hope my inbuilt pump has enough push? am I correct or have I got this completely wrong and most sites have a sewage drain you can park over? thanks for your help

    Hi Bob , Mrs Bob and Poppy Bob .
    Good informative videos to the potential newbie amongst us , is there a ball park figure on pitch costs ( I know I know how long is a piece of string ) but could you give a guide and any hidden extras ie would the leccy be included in the price .

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It varies by site by season, by number of people, by type of pitch, so that said, expect to pay up to £35 a night in peak season at Caravan and Motorhome Club Sites, or as little as £15 for limited facility sites. There are no hidden extras on club sites, electricity is included and dogs are free.

    You shouldn’t need a pitch marker. Reception will know.

      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not all sites have reserved pitches, if you can choose your pitch on arrival you need to know if someone is already on that pitch. The Caravan & Motorhome Club allow you to choose your pitch on arrival.

    Caravan and m/h club phoned today with all new covid 19 rules for arrival at site on 4th July. Paid site fees by card today, given site arrival time (2 pm for us) and pitch number and on arrival at site we will be handed pack with everything we need and we can go straight to pitch without the need to enter the office. All seemed fairly seamless so far! Facilities will be open on site using a wrist band system to ascertain how many are in showers/toilets at any one time. We shall use our own facilities which we always prefer. Bit too old now to wander on site not properly dressed etc! Lovely to think we shall soon be on the road again.

      Bob Earnshaw not sure about that. Warden did add 12 noon departure would be strict. We are going to Looe, just over the border from us in Devon just for a couple of days. Really to see if cornwall is ready and welcoming to visitors. The swimming pool and children’s play area would be shut for the time being and site fees slightly reduced because of this.

    hello, thank you for that video, you explained it well and calmly very helpful. .
    we are new to this, so still searching for information all the time. !
    when you get to a campsite and plug in the hook up. what do you have to do inside the motorhome to make it safe? switches and things.?
    we have a Peugeot Starspirit.
    many thanks.

      Thought I'd covered it all in the video! Ideally you should switch off at the power supply unit in the motorhome before plugging the cable in. Make sure no appliances are switched before switching it on.

    I've never owned a motorhome but it's a dream of mine to do so one day. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos and at least if I do ever reach the dizzy heights of becoming part of the motorhome owners family, I'll be far more aware of what and what not to do. I do have one question - toilet paper. In the toilet or not? Many thanks 👍

    My question is and I’m not being horrible but why would u pay to stay on a campsite when u can find a cosy place ie the seaside car park or Somewhere out the way and only stay at a camp site to just fill up water and get rid of waste water else u might as well just have a caravan.

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because we enjoy the safety of campsites and prefer not to share car parks with drunks, boy racers and doggers. Just saying...
