    Not a great fan of this being able to book up to 2 years in advance malarkey with no deposit. It just means places get booked solid by people that might turn up if they haven't found something better to do. Make deposits compulsory and stop the pitch blocking. Strange how they had to start a " late booking" scheme 5 minutes later when all those pitches suddenly become freed up. Member of both clubs.

      Been a lot of noise about the intro of a deposit scheme but not seen any hard evidence. Sadly a case of use it, don’t abuse it but….. thanks very much for watching and leaving a comment. Cheers Dave & Helen 👍

    Hi Dave and Helen. We was members of Caravan and Camping a very long time ago but for us they never seem to be interested in your needs so we joined Caravan and Motorhome Club and they've always been interested in what our needs are. Never looked back. Great video 😎👍 Paul and Sarah

      Thanks Paul & Sarah, we haven’t stayed at enough of the C&CC sites to give a fair comparison but that’s interesting feedback. We tend to favour C&MC too but we will be trying more C&CC sites. Thanks for watching. Cheers Dave & Helen 👍

    We have been in both clubs for years , but always favoured CMC generally until this year when we have used the CCC more than ever and had good service from them, this is a turning point for us, albeit they have a bit to go to match the CMC overall but the gap is closing in OHP . We'll still renew the membership for both though , we see them as the backbone of the network . Great discussion though guys and we completely agree with your general findings. We have booked sites in Europe through the clubs and see their logo's on European sites as a comfort. The CMC European Travel advisers are first class and we have been on CMC organised European Tours which have also been first class. Also we find the insurances offered through the CMC are competitive with Red Pennant European travel the standout quality product. Best wished Helen and Martin. - Great watch.

    Hi Guys ! We've been members of both for years and joined to get access to the CLs and CSs which are often much nicer than big sites. In terms of full sites, we've found that the prices at the CAMC sites have started to get a bit steep. We tend to prefer C&CC sites which are a bit cheaper and many have free WiFi.

    • @HelenandDave
      @HelenandDave  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Sooty, many thanks for watching and leaving a comment. These days, we very much find ourselves in the same camp as yourselves. CL's & CS's offer a uniqueness all of their own and often with some fine personal touches and as you rightly point out at a fair and competitive price. We have fallen out of favour with many of the larger club sites and the prices have sky rocketed. Hope you have a great Christmas. ATB, Helen & Dave

    One thing worth a mention is that the camping and caravan club do not allow members to book a single night (with electric hook up) on their sites on a Friday or Saturday . so if you are touring, you must book two nights minimum at the weekend. No such limitation exists with the Caravan and Motorhome Club..

    • @HelenandDave
      @HelenandDave  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Barry, yes, that’s a very good point which we didn’t mention in the video. Thanks for highlighting this. I have to say, since publishing this video, despite renewing both club memberships we have been enjoying many private sites and CL’s & CS’s. Each offering their own uniqueness and so much cheaper. Thanks again, Dave and Helen 👍

    Since your video was made I’ve heard you have to make a deposit when booking now, is that correct? I think this is a change for the better as people would book pitches in January for trips throughout the year with no intention of visiting all of them! 🤔

    Hi, Been Members Of The Caravan and motor home club For 30 Years And Have Just Recently Joined The Caravan and Camping Club , Have Used There Temporary Rally Sites(not proper rallies) In Great Locations Like North Cornwall And Pershore, " nice little place" £17 a night With Electric!! But Still Love The Caravan & motor home club Even Though There New Booking APP Is Giving Members Problems!!👍

      Hi there Ronald, couldn’t agree with you more, we stayed with C&MC a few days ago and will be arriving at Malvern Hills tomorrow. Their recent hiccup with the booking system has been unfortunate but it looks like they’re getting sorted now. Those £17 type deals are about, you just need to do your planning don’t you. Thanks very much for watching and congratulations on 30 years, we love all comments but especially from seasoned caravaners. ATB Dave & Helen 👍

    Very good analysis of the benefits of being members of both clubs. There are a lot of doubts out there and I think you clarified and answered a number of questions for those that regularly go camping in the UK 😃🚐 There are camping and glamping type pods available on some the UK club sites now and strangely, CAMC now offer package holidays to places like the USA, Africa, The Maldives and elsewhere but can’t see what that has to do with camping 🤷‍♂️ Yes, I am an old school cynic 😉🤣 Trev

    Hi Helen and Dave. Enjoyed the vlog and found it interesting. Were members of both clubs and echo lots of what you say in the video. Having so many potential sites to choose from gives us choices in almost any part of the country we want to visit, and generally standards are fairly consistent so you know what you'll be getting for the most part. As can be expected, some sites are better run than others, but we've enjoyed almost all we've visited. CAMC standards are usually more consistent, but we have found some CCC sites that are absolute "treasures". When we add in some of the "private" site groups, and the adult only ones it gives us lots of choice. We do have some concerns about pricing aspects pf both Clubs, and about how well members are consulted about changes or how income is invested, but generally find that remaining in membership works well for us. Thanks for the video. George and Trish

    @mellarner8253 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    We are in both, have been for over 20 years. We prefer CL’s or CS’s in the main and membership provides that access, although do use club sites enough for the discount such that it more than covers membership fees. Not a fan of club sites, in particular too regimented, but they are convenient sometimes. Never use site facilities, not done so for many years, have paid enough for a caravan with facilities, so we use them and the dash in dressing gowns to communal facilities has no appeal at all. Plenty of non club sites now have serviced pitches, so we look for them first. Have used insurance also from both clubs, but find Mayday recovery offers best breakdown services, not that I have compared recentlyto be fair. So, yes to being member of both clubs, well worth it.

    • @HelenandDave
      @HelenandDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My wife and I agree with all the positive points you discuss regarding both clubs.
    We are long standing caravanning members of Caravan & Motorhome club.
    Unfortunately in recent years we feel that CAMC has become over dog friendly to the detriment of others who do not bring pets to club sites.
    We feel the club is losing out on valuable revenue by not charging for each dog. Also we would like to see a restriction of only two dogs per pitch and no dogs brought on site by visitors to members pitches.
    Dog mess on site, constant yapping/barking dogs and dogs urinating all day in wire pens erected at the side of caravans and motorhomes has led us towards using non club sites. We find private sites are much stricter regarding behaviour of some pet owners. Of course many dogs are not noisy or messy but it has more of a problem recently on club sites in our experience.

    • @HelenandDave
      @HelenandDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ian, it’s an interesting point that you’ve made. We have a little dog, you wouldn’t know she was here most of the time but we’ve just returned from a CAMC site and the caravan next door had 4 dogs in and when one dog barked they all kicked off and didn’t stop for a while and it was a reoccurring scene. The dog walk was excellent but many sites only have a small square so that can be a problem. We too have started to use CL’s and private sites more and there are some lovely personal touches and they’re cheaper too. ATB Dave & Helen

    Hi Helen & Dave, Interesting video. We’re members of the caravan & Motorhome club only and our £56 membership has just paid for itself on our first trip of 2022 to Durham. We do sometimes find their layouts a bit suburbia but it’s usually the location that seals the deal for us. We like staying on CL’s (fully serviced) and a lack of facilities isn’t a problem as we never use them anyway. We also like to stay at independent sites that offer a nice view or open space (like Pier Cottage, Coniston). I’ve never taken up any club offers yet but we are insured with the club. Cheers, Rob

    I am a memeber of both, not sure about the advantages of the no deposit, I think a lot of people book lots of weekends just in case the weather is good, if its they cancel or just don,t turn up, makes it difficult on some sites to book a whole weeks holiday.

    Great informative video, we are members of the caravan and motor home club, the only downside I find is getting a booking for a full week because the weekends are already booked. Grrrrr

      Teresa, yes!! We’ve noticed that too. Monday to Friday seems to be much easier unless you’re booking well in advance. Cheers Dave & Helen 👍

      @HelenandDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Colin, if you watch our other video’s you’ll see that we’ve done just that. They offer a uniqueness of their own and definitely a lot cheaper. Post Covid we’ve noticed a lack of investment in some of the club sites too. Thanks for watching. ATB Dave and Helen 👍

    On the subject of toilets we have spent over 50 grand on our Motorhome with all the facilities so why would I want to use a public toilet?
    Why would I get up in the middle of the night and go out to use a public toilet? A lot of people do as the bar stewards wake me up tramping past our pitch so we usually ask for a pitch as far away from the toilets as possible because the bar stewards also hang around outside the toilets gibber gabbering.
    That’s like checking in to a luxury 5 star boutique hotel and going down the road to use a public toilet.

    Great in-site unfortunately I’m not a member and never have been we only go away about 30 days max a year as still working the club sites are they still available to non members at the normal price
    Cheers martin

      Hi Martin, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Yes these sites are available to non members but we found the discount saving on our first week away more than covered the cost of membership. Being a member also gives access to thousands of Certified Location sites which are generally very cost effective and often only available to members. We also use our membership card for discounts on camping gear (go outdoors) green flag breakdown and lots of other offers. Worth investigating further. ATB Dave & Helen 👍

    Sorry but you totally missed the point of clubs, which is to bring like minded people together and both clubs do that through their local groups social camping. Ask not what the club does for me but what can I do for my club. 😊

    • @HelenandDave
      @HelenandDave  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nigel, thanks very much for your comment. Actually I think we haven’t missed the point at all. Joining a club is about member benefits. The benefit to you is clearly social but that’s not why we joined so it’s clear your idea works for you and ours works for us. We’re all winners 👍 Thanks again, Dave & Helen
