Thank you for your point on MLK and Malcolm. They weren't the right way vs the wrong way. They were heroes to their communities trying to make things better.
They were both necessary for the civil rights movement to succeed, one to make the racists scared and put pressure on the system, the other to be an unquestionably good voice of reason that the racists had to begrudgingly respect Great video btw I wish Disney had the balls to make something like this but I’m doubtful, I think the first movie being heavily focused on the mutant oppression aspect would be perfect so they can feel free to explore the sci-fi/fantasy stories in the later movies
@@konra4646 Absolutely agree about both Malcolm and Martin being necessary to demonstrate that inevitable change can either be peaceful or it can be violent, but I just want to make sure that we aren’t rewriting history in our analysis and wrongly playing into respectability politics. The change brought about by MLK as a part of the civil rights movement in the US was not realized with the begrudging respect of racists. His legacy was reappropriated to forge a narrative of peaceful change as part of the American political process. MLK was denigrated right up to his assassination, and he died with negative favorability among Americans. His peaceful advocacy for civil rights and against poverty was broadly resented even with Malcolm’s militancy presented as the alternative. The begrudging respect of racists was not anything until MLK’s criticisms of liberal moderates and advocacy for/organization of the working poor was virtually scrubbed from his legacy and replaced with a “dream” of colorblindness and a idea of peaceful resistance consisting of infinite tolerance for oppression and oppressors. MLK day was not recognized in all 50 states until the year 2000.
It’s crazy how close they both were to flipping their supposed “ideals” by the end of their lives. Very disappointed. Where is the scene where Charles Xavier goes “…and everyone will know your names! You will be big! You will be The Giant-Sized X-Men #1!”
I have to say this is by far the best pitch for a means to integrate the X-Men into the MCU that I've seen yet, the whole Genosha massacre angle is a perfect fit and a clever way to still have the long history of these characters. Personally I think that Charles using that amount of power to cause such a drastic shift would be an interesting rework for maybe what causes him to become paralysed, the Fox films having it reflect the damage done by Magneto was a great retcon so here having it reflect both the damage he did to himself and Mutant kind as a whole would be a great touch.
This being how he got paralyzed would be so creative and amazing, and it would 100% fit in the story and overarching narrative of Charles and his actions. I love that idea SO MUCH!
@@troyoboyo17 I saw someone suggest the title ‘To Me, My X-Men’. It really resonated with me since younger generations don’t really have a concept of the X-Men, and this would be their first introduction to such a vital part of the Marvel Mythos.

Honestly X-men lore in all mediums is immediately improved with the head canon of slowed aging as a secondary mutation for most characters. ESPECIALLY the fox films.
There was a point where Claremont or other X writers were implying that being a mutant made your body a little more advanced than other bodies in general. Like health and longevity wise. So this checks out
even when im burnt out on superhero stuff, i never feel burnt out on the xmen because they represent something so real and human. charles’ empathy is his greatest gift and it always has been, so whenever things are tough i know that if i approach things with empathy and understanding, i can find a way forward. read some xmen stuff, it goes beyond people with cool powers. i grew up a self loathing queer child, but genuinely it was through my reading of xmen comics that i started to understand my place in the world. i wouldnt be who i am today if xmen had not planted the seeds of empathy and hope at a young age.
@@LiterallyBatman1610 It was such a failure that that's why Jubilee is the POV character in X-Men the Animated Series and why Kitty never showed up in that show and only as a cameo in '97.
It's actually pretty simple to get an MCU project to be successful or at least rest assured that it'll be a huge success, is to hire directors and/or writers that are huge fans of what they're dealing with. That's why the GOTG trilogy was a huge successs because James Gunn is such a huge fan of the Superhero group and a great storytelling genius.
Wow. Magneto saying that he’s tired of the fighting and evil and everything really sticks with me. It’s because I feel the same way. I’m tired of the world being a cruel place. I’m tired of hearing almost nothing but bad things. I’m tired of humanity seemingly not doing enough to change it for the better. But there is still hope. There is still good in the world. And we, all of us, have to do something about it. Even if it’s seemingly small and insignificant because being a hero is about being kind, compassionate, caring, brave, and most of all, being a good friend to all.
This man just make possibly the best origin and modern history of the X Men and found the way to connect it splendidly to the MCU without changing the crucial aspects of the team. I know this is just for an hypothetical scenario for the start of the Mutant Saga but this should 100% get a part ll, just in case the official X Men fumble. It’s been so long that a fan story makes me jump of the emotion, absolutely fantastic and amazing
Why did a video essay just make me cry?! I wasn’t ready for that, but it was very cathartic. Love this pre write, it carried the heart and soul of the X-men and uses the MCU as an interesting opportunity for storytelling. Also loved how you adapted the allegory of the X-Men to what it can do for audiences now and what it means for so many people who can see themselves in the X-Men. You absolutely ate this up
The visual of magneto putting his helmet on and Xavier saying no he's not dead, he's back have me goosebumps. If I saw that in love action I would lose it.
I've just gotta say as someone who belongs to a few marginalized communities...we really really need this right now. Jeez it's been so long since a pitch like this made me cry. Like, actually cry. Magneto's "I'm tired of fighting." hit me like a train.
It would be cool if the film was set during the Halloween season. Kitty walking home from school and passing by tons of Avengers costumes. Seeing kids dress up as these heroes while people are villainizing mutants. It also could tie into the end of the movie when Scott gives her the X-Men suit
4:23 Mutants having existed for generations works REALLY well, and connects with how the X-Men work really well as an allegory for LGBTQ oppression (of course, alongside with other forms of oppression). Gay and trans people have existed for centuries (google Thomasine Hall for a pretty interesting example), but only really gained more and more national prominence in the US as they found community with each other during the 1960s and started making themselves more visible. This could work well in the MCU -- superheroes and the Avengers specifically could be the reason that mutants start finding community in each other and forming teams like the X-Men!
Yessss you get me! I wanted to try and find a way to tie in the “Left Handed” graph that’s used in a lot of trans/queer spaces but couldn’t figure out how to mention it organically. But that was 100% intentional!
this is why i think it works best to just retcon them in without magic or anything. becoming confident enough to stand in the light is such a more compelling reason for the x men to return than somebody cast a spell in a different movie.
43:42 as a POC, this is why representation is so important. The same way the X-men are hope for mutants seeing someone that looks like you as a kid really gives you that feeling that you aren’t alone
I believe that was exactly Kirby and Stan Lee’s intention. Ridiculous how some supposed fans of their work get so riled up when a previously portrayed white character becomes non-white. Kind of unrelated, as a fellow POC, using “POC” always sounded like a negative label to me. It feels like I’m being labeled as being a less favorable “colored person,” all while non-POCs get to be the normal way of existing. I prefer non-white because it feels less like a label and more like a unified group of people. This labeling, interestingly, is somewhat related to how mutants are labeled in the Marvel universe as well. Curious to know your thoughts.
@ honestly you have a very good point about the labeling. I personally like person of color because someone explained it to me like this: We are not colored people because our skin is not what we are first. We are all people first, hence person of color. That stuck with me and is the main reason I use it to begin with. Also so right about the riling up about a race swap. Who cares if it’s a good performance or interesting character?
@@a_ninja2376 ahh good point about being a person first! That makes the POC label much, much more appealing. Thanks! Also, yeah if the character is well written and well performed, I could care less about what gender or race they are. So long as they aren’t changed for the sole purpose of pandering. For example, the live action Little Mermaid wasn’t race swapped because of pandering, but because the actress is such an amazing singer. I feel sad for those who didn’t give it a chance because of the “woke mind virus” lol
17:00 Yeah, ouch. 18:00 Also hard agree on that. The hypocrisy just makes the metaphor stronger. The mutant metaphor of course doesn't work all the time. X-Men has been going for nearly a decade, it's crazy to think all their stories from all the different writers would work 100% of the time. But the thing is that when it hits, and when it's purposefully used, it's incredibly like 97.
I just want it known that i love the relationship between your audio and visuals. I've for a long time thought that audio is fundamentally more important for youtube video's and the way you use the visuals as an enhancement for it is so cozy I know its not, like, revolutionarily to enjoy narration and little visuals but idc
I like the idea that the MCU now hates mutants because of the trauma they have experienced with other super-powered catastrophes and don’t trust these random people to have these abilities, so they lash out at them because of it. Maybe make it some kind of post-911 Islamophobia metaphor or something, where people use catastrophes or shared trauma to excuse being horrible to a group of people.
That’s a really interesting idea! On the other hand, really playing out how hypocritical the hate for mutants is could also be an option for social commentary. Both could work imo
I gotta say, this MCU X-Men pitch seems cool and interesting. I actually like the idea of Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat being the POV character to introduce us to the X-Men. Great work on your prewritten MCU X-Men, Troy. I hope you make more Fanboy rewrites and prewrites. Keep up the great work!
I like the trope of “kid is a mutant but doesn’t know it, get unofficially adopted by Charles Xavier and meets the X-Men to introduce the characters to us as a form of exposition.” Even Deadpool & Wolverine kinda did this with Gambit, Laura, Johnny and Elektra via Deadpool mistaking them or not even knowing who they are even though he literally breaks the fourth wall constantly and knows who Wonder Woman is
I love these pitch videos so much. To me they feel like campfire stories, or mythology told orally. The stories are so good that it doesn't matter if its official canon, whether its comics or films.
Ahhhh man what a video. I love how you frame this new franchise in the same light as Giant size xmen. Love how you keep Logan out of this movie but tease him. It’s perfect!!
One thing I would like to see done with the Sentinels is how they, despite being weapons of bias and prejudice, are able to think logically when it comes to the relation between Humans and Mutants. Every Human on the planet has the capacity to birth Mutants. Therefore, Human reproduction must be severely regulated, and certain freedoms taken away, to prevent more Mutants being spawned. It is the cruel irony of Human irrationality being turned against them by their own creations, their supremacist agendas and claims for security effectively landing them in a situation of oppression similar to what they tried enforcing over Mutants. Helps give more interest to the Sentinels beyond going full Skynet on everyone. They are following their programming of Killing Mutants and Protecting Humanity at All Costs. Problem is, protection is not always liberal.
This is usually the end point of Sentinel-based stories. Nimrod or Master Mold decides the best way to deal with mutants is to handle the humans. There's a lot of ways to do it too, like killing all sapient life on Earth, controlling the population by putting them into zoos, or even just turning everyone into an Omega Sentinel!
@AlriikLives The second and third are a lot more interesting, I reckon. One deprives freedom for protection, while the other essentially drafts people into a war they wanted, but never desired to fight in themselves.
@@TRTMN-vs3ew The Sentinel is such a beautiful piece of art. Like, it is Oppression personified. Seeing the Sentinels during the Immortal Iron Man run painted in Iron Man colors was disgusting. Then you have the Omega Sentinels, the Tri-Sentinel, the Wild Sentinels, Master and Mother Mold. It's like, if Darkseid was developed by man.
@@AlriikLives Indeed. Hollow metal shells animated by bias and prejudice, unable to develop in any meaningful way beyond what they were made to do. Not life, merely a tool.
@@TRTMN-vs3ew And yet, when their purpose is sated, they are all that is left. Kind of sounds like Hydra, huh? The source of all hate, that which is not like "us", is against us. God, I hope this next arc in comics measures up to the Krakoan Era, because that was fire, yo. Like, I think we're getting a bunch of new good stuff, but there was some fire in that last arc.
I always thought that mutants should’ve always existed, but in an act of self-defense during a particularly bad period of fear and hatred, Xavier used Cerebro to wipe humanity’s memories of mutants, and when new ones pop up, the X-Men secretly go out and bring them back to either the Institute or the MCU version of Krakoa, where mutants live apart from everyone else. That way, when it’s revealed it could lead to a renewed fear of mutants because a single one was able to wipe the memories of everyone.
Great use of Damage Control! I had a theory around the time Miss Marvel came out that Damage Control was starting to signal the switch from the public idolizing superhumans to being prejudiced against them
If this version of the movie were made, I wonder if (A) the people it is speaking out against would even get it, or (B) the worst people you know would complain about it, or (C) both.
this is such an incredibly thought out take on the x-men, from comic inspiration to mcu integration complications, and even the holes in their symbolism and social allegories, it's so obvious how much care and time you put into this and I can't express how well this resonates to me as a major x-men geek, i know marvel probably won't pull anything like this but DAMN this is pretty much the high bar for x-men to me, I've thought about how they would work so much over the past few years, and while i had a different vision in mind for most of what i came up with, this pretty much had me completely satisfied and i really have no notes this was eXcellent (😉) bro, keep up the good work !!
i think a fun way to explain magneto's age in the MCU would be to say he was a winter soldier in his youth! civil war showed there were a bunch of frozen super soldiers, maybe the reason magneto wasn't amongst them is that all the winter soldiers with x genes were bought by sinister or something, but were freed in transit? also would explain why he wasn't killed with his family in WW2, hydra were actively looking for super powered people amongst their victims and kidnapped him to turn him into a weapon!
@@aaronwentz3190 Yes! Such an underrated villain, he could fit in well. That could be how he gets recruited to the Brotherhood too. I know he isn't really a memeber but it could be a chance to do something interesting with him.
Yeah, this was a banger, probably my favourite of your prewrites It hits everything I'd wanna see in an X Men film while also not ignoring the status quo of X Men knowledge we live in now, like using not the original five for the team like everyone and their mother has suggested, portraying Erik and Charles as agreeing by the end of the movie without really making him a villain, Charles Xavier's imperfections and how those don't necesarily make him horrible but should also not be ignored Truly, 10/10 pitch, insert Scorcesse meme
This was a fantastic video. Really understood the X men, whilst making this your own take... But there was a stunning lack of Mojo, so im giving this a 0/10
You have a real talent for this. Wolverine (Laura) is my favourite superhero period - I've been really craving some kind of new on screen adaptations for her since I've been catching up on some more of her comic history recently, and this video really hit the spot in the absence of anything satisfying from disney. The 'I want them to see the Wolverine coming' scene had me almost tearing up like this was a real movie haha. Big props.
BTW, I gotta say, I fucking LOVE the metal version of the cartoon theme song in the intro! And, you did an amazing job with the story for this movie!!!!
I really loved the way you're going with this. I think Magneto has always been my favorite, even as a kid. I live in a VERY conservative part of the US and grew up in a christian fundamentalist church and even though I went to public school, I wasn't really allowed to hang around anyone who wasn't in my church. I've always been surrounded by so much hate. I was always so drawn to Magneto because, even as a kid, I knew those words of hate weren't just wrong, but could become dangerous if left unchecked. There's one scene from X-Men 97 that I can't stop thinking about and that basically encapsulates the part of Magneto I've always loved. Hopefully I can be vague enough to not spoil it. Basically it's the part where he looks down at the terrified mutant by his side and says that everything will be okay, to try to comfort the ones he's trying to protect. I really, REALLY would love to see that portrayed on screen. To show how much he loves his fellow mutants and wants nothing more than to protect them.
16:58 Frankly, I lost all creativity that very same day. I broke so fundamentally. I've never been lower. Why do anything when there won't be a future to invest in? Why tell stories if the experiences I want to share won't happen or the lessons I want to teach can no longer be applied. I'm glad you still feel creativity in posting this video, but I've never been more dead inside. This storyteller will no longer tell stories. I can't anymore. There's no meaning in it when all meaning is gone.
This is the only X-Men pitch I've seen that takes aspects from every era of X-Men I want to see adapted and distill them into one piece in a way that works. This is the best X-Men pitch I've seen by far, and it's not even close.
This is one of the most incredible X-Men videos I've seen. I love how you and your channel just gets what makes these comics and characters so iconic and are able to translate that into a film pitch.
This is the best pitch I’ve heard in a long time. This literally gave me hope. I really like the characters you picked . The story telling was amazing!
If magneto and some of the original X-men are on Genosha; a good way to get around the age casting for the 60 year difference could be the island sort of stops time or aging or some powerful mutant resident keeps them young. That way you can keep magnetos og backstory and be open to Bobby hank and Warren coming back into action.
I really like this. It's an original story that still draws from all the things we know from the comics like a lot of the way the MCU has written it's stories.
This was fkn amazing, could really tell how much time and effort you put into this story. My only complaint is I NEED BOBBY DRAKE IN THE MAIN X-MEN TEAM THEY NEED TO DO MY BOY JUSTICE
Seems like a terrible idea to sideline Iceman and keep him in 60s now that he's marvels main gay hero. Let xmen actually be gay instead of just using gay culture and oppression as a aesthetic
@@liamlennon3316I can see this but I think the solution would be to explore sexuality with other characters. For this pitch kitty or Scott would be good options. Or you could recontexualize magneto and profX as X lovers
This is too good of a story that I believe mcu wouldn't have a brain as genius as this. I bawled and shouted like a little kid when I heard the monologue at the end, something the mcu would never do yo me. Honestly props to you man, what an awesome video 🙌
I really loved this pitch. It's a mix of all of the different eras which is nice. I really liked the use of Laura and Kitty. Gambit's arc might be one I want to see from beginning to end. I think it'd be interesting for him to start off selling out his own and the X-Men change him. I'd be interested to see you continue the series.

X-Men 97 truly set the gold standards of how to depict the X-Men well, and as such, I truly hope the MCU take notes with the level of storytelling, compelling writing and important and powerful political themes. I really like your pitch idea, and I you idea of how to handle the X-Men in the MCU just makes the most sense since they seem to really be setting up the fact that Mutants have always been in the MCU, but remain as a very small and incredibly rare 2% of the global population to gain their powers and remain hidden throughout history and only now do we see more Mutants become public and grow in population. I also hope they give the much-needed spotlight to members like Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Rogue, Ice-man, Kitty, Colussus, Beast, and Wolverine (eventually) etc... and show why the X-Men are so much more than just all about Wolverine.
Great video my guy loved this pre write!!! Nightcrawler is hands down my favorite marvel character of all time. I truly hope he's a part of the mcu X men line. Keep up the awesome work fam!!!

I would actually really like to see this get adapted, but know it sadly never will and I think you have a talent for writing. I like listening to your ideas and views of the source material, you can really feel the love you have for these characters. Very good video keep it up :))
"he doesn't have the experience to understand what it truly means to be marginalised" I totally get that Xavier has rarely been written well as disability rep, but I do think that readers and writers are too quick to forget that he has spent significant time existing as a disabled man, even when using images that still depict him using a wheelchair. There's been some interesting perspectives I've read of Xavier's philosophy, analysed through the lens of disability politics. I'd honestly like to see more stories explore that, especially in adaptations where we hopefully know a bit better than to uncritically "fix" disabilties.
@nihilodiem9591 I'd let people who are paraplegic speak to that, however it's worth remarking that in reality that's not most people's experience. It would be nice if Xavier as one of Marvel's most recognised characters, could give voice to those experiences.
I totally agree with this take and its weird only Charles gets this take when he's actually disabled unlike majority of "main" xmen who are straight attractive white people who aren't apart of any real minority
Everything you said about Storm having to hold back all the time is actually more of a Cyclops Trait. Just imagine never being able to truly look on the faces of your loved ones without seeing them through the ruby quartz lenses. The only way to control your power is by closing your eyes, figuratively shutting yourself off from everything. Knowing that if you slip just once you could seriously hurt or even kill somebody. Scott's whole life is about restraint.
That doesn't mean that's not Storm's experience as well. She literally needs to keep her emotions in check otherwise she messes with hit natural weather system from a single angry thought. She icondemned hundreds of animals to death when she wanted to simply make rain. It's such a pivotal moment in her story that when she sees how free Yukio is she finally installed her emotions and embraces them to fully accept all of who she is including the bad parts hence the punk look.
Not to mention how Storm shedding her previous skin to fully embrace herself is a perfect allegory for LGBTQ+ etc, while Cyclops's problem is more about being disabled.
man the idea of charles wiping everyone's minds like that and also the incorporation of uncanny while kitty is thinking to herself really solidified this for me as how i'd want to see the x-men introduced in the mcu, provided the film is also called uncanny
A grieving Xavier, plugged into Cerebro, sobbing, remembering those he lost, hearing the hatred, fear, grief, and anquish of every living being on the planet. And over and over and over he repeats the same three words, at first a loud scream of desperation and sacrifice that falls into a watery, choked whisper that can barely be heard over his gasping breaths. "No more mutants."
You had me at “Kitty Pryde” but then you also had me at a genuinely well-composed and touching story idea. I’d spend a helluva lot of money on tickets to see this in the theatre

Hear me out: being a mutant makes you age slower. They’ve all got crazy powers already and if making this retcon allows people like Magneto to keep their origins, I think it’s worth it. Plus, you can still say that Wolverine has slower aging than the rest, similar to how some Kryptonians are “stronger” than others.
Well it’s already technically canon in the comics that the speed you age is proportional to your popularity as a superhero because Franklin Richards is god and also a massive comic fan.

Honestly X-men lore in all mediums is immediately improved with the head canon of slowed aging as a secondary mutation for most characters. ESPECIALLY the fox films.
It’s just the nature of comics. Characters don’t die and the soap opera continues.
@@hunterfogleman7443 Soap opera is eternal!
There was a point where Claremont or other X writers were implying that being a mutant made your body a little more advanced than other bodies in general. Like health and longevity wise. So this checks out

Lowkey Optimus Prime level of a speech
even when im burnt out on superhero stuff, i never feel burnt out on the xmen because they represent something so real and human. charles’ empathy is his greatest gift and it always has been, so whenever things are tough i know that if i approach things with empathy and understanding, i can find a way forward. read some xmen stuff, it goes beyond people with cool powers. i grew up a self loathing queer child, but genuinely it was through my reading of xmen comics that i started to understand my place in the world. i wouldnt be who i am today if xmen had not planted the seeds of empathy and hope at a young age.

16:52 "Yet so many allow their leaders to be terrorists." -Magneto
I feel the same way and my wife even more. She can’t even listen to anything news or politics related because it completely devastates her.
I love your framing of the x men not been made to just fight "evil" mutants because genually that's a problem in a lot of x men media
Feeling so validated that someone else thinks Kitty would be the perfect eyeline character. It just makes too much sense
You absolutely ate this up
This is actually angering me knowing this isn’t real and most likely isn’t close to what’s gonna happen Marvel please hire this man
This is also how I feel about his spider man trilogy
Need Kevin Feige to see this comment 😭
I'm interested in how McKay's "mutant contagion" idea in the current run could play on this idea
Fun Fact: the guy who played cyclops on x-men evolution also played Cole in the early seasons of ninjago
RIP Kirby Morrow
I'm glad Cyclops is finally getting the recognition that he deserves. Magik recently, as well.
The scene between Charles and Erik almost made me cry.
I've for a long time thought that audio is fundamentally more important for youtube video's and the way you use the visuals as an enhancement for it is so cozy
I know its not, like, revolutionarily to enjoy narration and little visuals but idc
I'm fully convinced that Troyoboyo17 secretly has superpowers and is currently reading my mind. This is brilliant
💯💯
The thing I hate most about this entire story is that it will never actually be adapted to a movie... 😔😔😔
"No place to hide, no place to run. The mutant age has now begun"
this is such an incredibly thought out take on the x-men, from comic inspiration to mcu integration complications, and even the holes in their symbolism and social allegories, it's so obvious how much care and time you put into this and I can't express how well this resonates to me as a major x-men geek, i know marvel probably won't pull anything like this but DAMN this is pretty much the high bar for x-men to me, I've thought about how they would work so much over the past few years, and while i had a different vision in mind for most of what i came up with, this pretty much had me completely satisfied and i really have no notes
this was eXcellent (😉) bro, keep up the good work !!
i think a fun way to explain magneto's age in the MCU would be to say he was a winter soldier in his youth!
civil war showed there were a bunch of frozen super soldiers, maybe the reason magneto wasn't amongst them is that all the winter soldiers with x genes were bought by sinister or something, but were freed in transit?
also would explain why he wasn't killed with his family in WW2, hydra were actively looking for super powered people amongst their victims and kidnapped him to turn him into a weapon!
I've seen the winter soldier angle so many times and I've always liked it. Putting Sinister in there just makes it better.
Maybe Omega Red could be another Russian super soldier

It hits everything I'd wanna see in an X Men film while also not ignoring the status quo of X Men knowledge we live in now, like using not the original five for the team like everyone and their mother has suggested, portraying Erik and Charles as agreeing by the end of the movie without really making him a villain, Charles Xavier's imperfections and how those don't necesarily make him horrible but should also not be ignored
Truly, 10/10 pitch, insert Scorcesse meme
29:00 X-23?!?! Yes!!! Laura is my favorite X-Men character! Her comics are like some of the only comics I’ve read basically lol

This was awesome. The Like A Prayer instrumental needle drop went crazy. Great work

Do a Prewrite for Wonder Woman please. I think she needs one.
50:44 AND IT'S PEAKKKK
an absolutely amazing X-Men movie with a Optimus Prime kind of speech at the end? sounds like something I have truly only been able to dream of.
You have really great ideas and I love your “respecting the past, embracing the future” theme of the pitch!
I listen to most of this as a podcast at work, so I was super surprised when I actually looked at the video and saw little cut out popsicle people
Same 😂
I really like this.
They would hear this pitch and then think “I can do it better” and completely change the best parts of it all
i hate that everytime i watch one of these im hit with the realization what we're gonna get has a strong chance of not going as hard
I really loved this pitch. It's a mix of all of the different eras which is nice. I really liked the use of Laura and Kitty. Gambit's arc might be one I want to see from beginning to end. I think it'd be interesting for him to start off selling out his own and the X-Men change him. I'd be interested to see you continue the series.
incredible pitch. act 3 is poignant and touching, a hopeful call to action that's sorely needed given the world we're in. genuinely brought me close to tears
Making the theme of the story "staying in the closet" is a pretty interesting idea.
Seeing Cyclops introduced in his New X-Men design made me so happy-- I just got back from Steel City Comic-con and I went as that look for Scott so it was very exciting to me lol
Holy smokes that was INCREDIBLE!

I would actually really like to see this get adapted, but know it sadly never will and I think you have a talent for writing. I like listening to your ideas and views of the source material, you can really feel the love you have for these characters. Very good video keep it up :))
"he doesn't have the experience to understand what it truly means to be marginalised"
I totally get that Xavier has rarely been written well as disability rep, but I do think that readers and writers are too quick to forget that he has spent significant time existing as a disabled man, even when using images that still depict him using a wheelchair.
There's been some interesting perspectives I've read of Xavier's philosophy, analysed through the lens of disability politics. I'd honestly like to see more stories explore that, especially in adaptations where we hopefully know a bit better than to uncritically "fix" disabilties.
You can't tell me that anyone in a wheelchair would choose to stay paralyzed
@nihilodiem9591 I'd let people who are paraplegic speak to that, however it's worth remarking that in reality that's not most people's experience.
It would be nice if Xavier as one of Marvel's most recognised characters, could give voice to those experiences.
@@gota7738 I think most people would take being able to go down stairs and shower independently over some sort of disability pride.
I totally agree with this take and its weird only Charles gets this take when he's actually disabled unlike majority of "main" xmen who are straight attractive white people who aren't apart of any real minority
I think maybe Charles’s experiences have been buffered by wealth and privilege.
Man I can tell you put a lot of time into this because it’s amazing well done Troy.
41:07 "they're not *your* x-men anymore, Charles. Remember? Ever since you chose to forget."

The mind wipe reveal is genius
Everything you said about Storm having to hold back all the time is actually more of a Cyclops Trait. Just imagine never being able to truly look on the faces of your loved ones without seeing them through the ruby quartz lenses. The only way to control your power is by closing your eyes, figuratively shutting yourself off from everything. Knowing that if you slip just once you could seriously hurt or even kill somebody. Scott's whole life is about restraint.
I mean so is storms
I've been waiting for this for forever! I'm super excited to see what you've come up with Troy!
Holy shit this was brilliant! I loveeee that third act and seeing that on screen as a fan of the X-Men and part of a few communities impacted by bigotry would definitely bring so much joy and lots of tears to my eyes. Extremely well done!
PEAK! Probably my favorite prewrite so far. Would love to see a continuation, especially to see what’s up with Mr Sinister. But that’s your choice.
