  • I bought the Cagiva 350 back in 2004 I checked the v5 (19 years ago or so) I used her for a good 2 years and then moved so she sat behind my mother's house under a tarp for 7 years, I then had her delivered to my house in leeds where I started to strip and paint (I have it all documented but the videos are 10 years old meaning aids to watch), I then moved house again and I had so many projects she was put on the back-burner, Saturday 25th 2023 I fired her up for the first time in 15+ years and she ran great all she needs is a accelerator pump diaphragm and she will be perfect....... the slow project may begin again.
    previous video I go through carb and make sure all is rotating nice checked spark ect, I had already changed oil and filter plus the first bit of fuel added had a 32:1 2 stroke ratio from my motocross bikes just for the added lubrication.
    I would just like to say that I am thankful for you guys watching and I hope you enjoyed this video 👌👍...... more to come!

      Will do. I inherited it from my dad. I used to ride it years ago, and brought it back from Leicester for him when he bought it. Just want to get it back on the road as a homage to him. I'll get there. Thanks for your help so far.

      I was just thinking, have you tried a new spark plug as some spark fine in atmospheric pressure but don't under compression, just a thought buddy 👍

      @DavesInHisGarage yeah, got 2 new plugs here. Tried both. I've just checked the valve clearances and going to start kicking again. Failing that look at the carb. It was sonic cleaned long time back and only used after the rebuild, but might have picked something up. Thanks I'll keep trying.

    Ahh, maybe that was my problem. I did spray it all with WD40 the other day. Was about to take the head off and look for a stuck valve. Maybe I'll try starting again before that? Thank you so much for your help. 👍🏻😁

      You can always put a small amount of petrol in the cylinder through the spark plug or a little spray of starting fluid or brake cleaner in the airbox just to see if it will fire as it could be a fuel flow problem or a stuck ring, once its running get it nice and warm just so the rings will free up if they are sticky 👍

      Thanks for that. Maybe I'll do both. I did get the occasional loud bang out the back, but not tried since I've noticed the decompression valve moving so freely. Thanks again mate, for all your help. 👍🏻

      Last night she kicked into life. 😃
      Tappets need setting, again and it looks like there's an air leak from the carb to the engine block, but at least she's alive! Thank you so much for all your help.

      @martinpoll1040 that's great news 👏👏👏, do you know the settings for the valve clearances? If not, I've got them for you. If it's the gasket between the rubber boot and head, just put a bit of gasket maker between them and It will seal up any leaks, I'm happy for you buddy just let me know of you need anything else 👍

    Hi, it's me again. Quick question. The top end of your decompression cable, is it movable by hand? Mine wasn't, had to use a screwdriver to test the slack etc. Just noticed that I can move it back and forth with literally a finger.

      @DavesInHisGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes buddy, the decompression lever is very easy to move, its only ment to be as stiff as the small coil spring that holds it in place on the lever, 1 finger light pressure should move it no problem 👍

    Hi. I don't suppose you can remember whether you were using throttle to start? I'm trying to get mine started after 30+ years. She's been stripped, checked and rebuilt, just won't start.

      Hi buddy, no, I just pulled choke lever and kicked for almost every year its existed lol, check you're getting fuel and spark, have you got a good battery as it won't run with a half dead battery I've noticed, check your earth's and the inline fuses if you've no spark 👍

      @martinpoll1040 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks. It's a new battery, I'm getting a great spark and can smell fuel both on the plug and in general. I seem to be getting more slight popping with some throttle, but manual says no throttle from cold. Guess I'll just have to keep kicking. It's only got 3500km on it, and everything's moving. Thanks.

      @martinpoll1040 might just be a stubborn old muel lol, try heat cylinder with a hair drier or heat gun to get the barrel some heat, it could also be flooded so spark plug out and a few kicks to clear out, hope you get her going buddy
