Serious Rust Repair Honda Ep3 Type R

- Not the best camera man I admit 🤣🤣🤣 hope you guys enjoyed.
Repairing a friend's Ep3 Type R so it doesn't go to scrap, very rusty but she's saved from the scrap yard.
I repaired the full driver side rear quarter as the boot floor and full corner was rotten, both inner arches and arch lips, both inner sills and outer sill patches also both front corner floors needed sorting and the passenger side out rigger with a few random other bits needed sorting.
Alot of footage from the rest of the repair was taken portrait to send via WhatsApp and messenger for updates to my friend some videos was used.

If its just sills and inner arches, its not to bad a job for someone that's got the tools to repair, if it's body work then it's welding and body work and it gets expensive.
You can always pick up another shell from garagep3, they will do the swap for you, last time I heard it was about a grand all in, you turn up and they swap engine gearbox and all interior etc of your car over into new shell.

I'm sure it won't be this bad as this is the worst I've seen. Well worth it though, as these really are great cars, just make sure the interior comes out first 👍

Yeah this was quite the surprise once I got under it lol, my friend who I sorted it for didn't realise it was that bad until I sent him the videos I took for the drivers side and rear quarter as the boot floor had rotten out as well, was a pretty big project but she's good for many more years now, well worth the hassle as their ain't many other cars out there that make you as happy as the old ep3, appreciate the comment buddy and glad you're having yours sorted 👍

Hi buddy, I've currently got 2 cars lined up and I work Monday to Friday so I only get a couple of days to work on them, how bad is it and we should remember my mate said this car wasn't bad until I poked holes everywhere lol, I'm in Leeds as well.

Just had the car since last year bought it with rust on rear arches both sides ended up doing a lot of power mods to it 255 bhp N/A
Think its time I focus on the rust now as its getting concerning
Shame your busy.. you wouldn't know of a place with a reputal reputation
Ideally I think it needs
both rear arches
Sills
And whatever else they may fine
I can only say that most good places will have waiting list, there is a company called Yorkshire car restoration and they have a youtube channel that I follow, think the picture is a black mazda rx3 they should have contact info on their channel, let me know how you get on buddy 👍 these ep3's are great cars and well worth saving.
Hi mate. Great job! Couple questions if u got time. What size metal you use? I’ve got full inner seal replacements for my ep3 being done in 2 weeks but there’s a couple patches need doing on the outer seal to be made up. Also what did you paint it with? Seen your info in description was it a case of zinc primer + Seam sealer then stone chip, gloss black paint? Then anymore further on top like under seal? Behind the side skirts obviously you don’t see but want to make sure it’s still a tidy job 👍 cheers mate!

Thanks buddy! A few hours each weekend for a good couple of months, but I could of probably done it in 4/5 days if I really knuckled down to it and iit was my job, I'm just lucky I had my ep3 to take measurements and make templates from 👍

Yeah it's not for everyone, I do wibble on these days 😳 plus my camera skills are horrendous but I felt it was worth the video just to show people they can be put back on the road with a good amount of work lol, as always you are a good friend and have been for years and it's a real shame we didn't have Tye to inspect my work lol but I know he would of tried to climb under there with me 🤣🤣🤣

I do love honda's, this is my friend's car and he loves it so for that reason it's worth saving so he can enjoy her for many more years to come, I need to control my wibbling and camera work or just buy a decent camera and tripod would help lol
@@DavesInHisGarage I happen to love Subarus. And, the camera work could be improved 😉, but it was cool seeing some of the handheld angles like when you would crawl underneath. Anyway, it was nice seeing a viddy from you.
It's hard work getting under cars over and over at my age lol sometimes have a little cry under there whilst no one can see 🙃🤣🤣, might have to get a subaru as I do like them too👌
