This event was recorded on 19 November 2010 in Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House
Lagos is one the fastest growing cities in Africa, and the seventh fastest growing city in the world. Governor Babatunde Fashola discusses how his administration is managing rapid urbanization and growth of this 17.5 million city, the engine of Nigeria's economy. Central to his strategy is the view that cities must pursue a bottom-up approach to solve the environmental and social challenges of the contemporary city. Babatunde Fashola is the youngest Governor of Lagos State in the History of Nigeria and a lawyer by profession.

Gov Fashola spoke very clearly although within his best knowledge and capacity. They do not reflect my views in its entirety. But for him to compare the homelessness at Westminster in London to Lagos just reduced his knowledge about London as a City and undermines the integrity of purpose of discussion. Also, for him to defeat himself and confidence by saying Lagos will never be like Europe because Europeans don't live there, is a complete understatement and a self defeat. Satisfactorily OK

I think he was right by his submission that Lagos is not Europe and can not be Europe because it is not the same kind of people that lives in this two different places. If you take account the different attitude of people living in this two cities.
