    Love this ❤️ I just turned 43, but I signed up for Steezy like a month ago. I had no previous dance experience, but I have taken some drop-in class and just dance for special occasion like Christmas party for example. I wanted to learn dance from fundamentals to choreography, but I live in a small town in Canada and there’s no available class I am interested in. So, I saw value in Steezy and started the online lesson. I am a slow learner but liking it so much.

      Keep going brotha. I'm 41 and after a long hiatus of being out of the dance world altogether I joined my first class at Broadway Dance Center in NYC last fall (at 40 yrs of age), hired the instructor for private lessons and just saw him last week after a long pause due to the Covid-19 shutdown. And, this is just the beginning of the best to come. Dancing and practicing choreography has been my passion for a very long time that I've kept in a prison inside of me for seems like a century that I'm just now allowing my soul to express itself and soon to the world.

    I am 66 years old and started dancing around 3 years ago . I have used Steezy on and off during that time along with lots of other resources . The guy with the beard said it well : Don’t overthink it! Dance is about you and your relationship with the songs you like . And even at my age I get better with time and practice . Learning new routines is difficult and I seem to need a lot more time to master them than maybe someone in their 20’s but so what ? Got it? So please guys no more “ am I too old to start dancing? “ questions. After watching this video , you now know the answer.

      Thomas, I’m so glad to see someone in their 60s on here! I’m actually a few years older than you, but love to move, especially to hip hop and rap. A former ballet dancer in my younger years, and not in the greatest shape anymore, I still love dance in every form, so I’m really glad I found this channel!

      @@suerichardson570 Hi Sue, I saw your message just as I was warming up for today's dance practice! (I am working "It's LBC" by Foesum). I always fantasize about joining a hip-hop dance crew of people in their 60's but knowing that the chances of that happening are less than zero! To be honest, I have used Steezy off and on but I find the music they dance to not to my liking (except for Bianca Vallar- she's awesome). I like mostly old school, boom bap ,90's hip hip, new jack swing, and house. The new stuff just doesn't have the vibe I am looking for. They seem to have thrown out the snare drum and use two slats of wood or something. I think every new artist needs to sit in a room and listen to James Brown for a day! They have lost the beat. Haha! Ok boomer! i have learned most of my stuff by watching Korean dancers, they still like the old-school grooves. Glad to meet you and keep dancing till life tells you to stop!

    This video is such an encouragement to me! Thank you! I am 57 years old, and I have always wanted to learn to dance. I was an awkward and self-conscious kid, but I took ballet and tap lessons in my mid-teens, which was the start of my love for dance. As an adult, then a mom and life in general, I just didn't pursue opportunities to learn. I started watching videos online a couple of years ago, kind of chiding myself about wanting to dance like these kids at my age. Without the benefit of step-by-step instruction, those routines were impossible for me to pick up. Three weeks ago, I came across one of Steezy's dance tips videos and learned about the channel. I think I watched at least 20 of your videos that day. I was going to sign up for the 7-day trial, but I changed my mind because I convinced myself that I was too old to learn to dance. Not anymore! I cannot wait to get started!

    I'm 22 and I've been dancing since I was 16. An I'm always struggling to practice in a daily basis, cuz I hear a voice in my head that says "I'm too old for that" or "I won't be able to make it as a dancer" and from now on Imma ignore this voice. I just gotta do it, it doesn't matter what other people think, or what you think of yourself, I just gotta do what's right for me, and dancing will always be the right thing to do

    • @Laura-ub9kn
      @Laura-ub9kn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm 21 and my story is so similar to yours. I started dancing when I was 14 but I also always struggled to practise daily, actually I still do. And I also thought that I'm too old and it's too late for me. I thought that even when I was 14 haha. Even when I went to some competitions, the little voice in my had said to me that it's not enough. Even if we won. I say "we" because I always went to competitions with my group and we performed as a group. And that's my another problem. I'm too afraid to dance alone, to freestyle instead choreography (because I think it's not good enough). And I wish I could participate in battles (solo) and enjoy battling (danicng) without being stressed. I actually went to battle last year, it was my first battle. It didn't went well but at least I did it (instead of dreaming about it). But due to actual situation I wasn't able to go to more battles and I think I went into my shell again.
      I hope you'll ignore this voice and start to dance daily and truly enjoy it. finger crossed ;)
      And remember, people usually don't judge you as hard as it seems for you, believe me. I know it's hard to adopt this attitude because sometimes it seems way different but I hope you'll believe in yourself. If you need more motivation, I think Jojo Diggs' story is really inspiring. She was introduced to ballrom when she was 22, and at age of 39 she became a dancer for the Jabbawockee's show. There is video about it at Steezy's channel, i think it really interesting and gives hope haha
      P.S. sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

    I needed this... I am almost 22 years old. I started dancing in a Kpop dance crew this time last year and god I forgot how badly I missed dancing. Now I can't stop, I'm addicted. I've always had a natural inclination/talent for contemporary dance but I haven't taken a formal dance class in my life. I feel like with contemporary it's so hard to find any classes, even adult ones. I don't want to take contemporary classes purely for fitness - I want to learn and grow as a dancer. It feels too late now though. I feel like I either take the beginner/fitness classes or I have to be at an elite level and there's no in-between for contemporary :(
    It's so sad. I always say in another life I would have 100% been a dancer/choreographer/dance teacher. I would LOVE to choreograph dances for music videos.

    • @madamepumpkin
      @madamepumpkin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s easier to find ballet classes for adult beginners imo, so I started doing this. Its the foundation for contemporary anyways! And then I use that knowledge to cover my fave kpop contemporary choreos (eg let go from bts). I feel you and I hope you wont let go of your passion just because it’s difficult!

    I was a great dancer for 20 years and stopped when I became a full time mom and focused on online jobs. Until sickness came due to stress and sedentary lifestyle. Now, I'm in the process of losing weight to be back to my normal BMI so I can start dancing again. I miss dancing so much.😊

    I'm 28 and really needed to hear this! I danced quite a bit as a child/teenager but never progressed that much because I wasn't disciplined enough to really trying to understand the movements and what I needed to do to improve, so totally agree that being older can be an advantage! I signed up for Steezy two months ago and I'm so glad I did... I feel like I'm making real progress, just wish I'd started sooner!

    I am 15 and I took jazz class for the past 2 years as an hobby! I knew I loved dance! However, since it was just a small class, it wasn't an environment that could give me space to improve a lot and I thought that I couldn't be an amazing dancer anymore since I was "too old".
    This year, during quarantine, I compromised myself to dance. I said to myself that if I don't start practicing now due to fear of failing, then I would never improve! Now I started taking beginner ballet classes and intermediate contemporary classes every week and I am much much happier than I used to! I already see how much I improved and I hope to continue my journey! I am also self-taughting myself some hip hop and I am very excited to take classes of that as well!
    Steezy always brings helpful and entertaining videos and this one was very inspiring! Thank you

    This really opened my eyes, because I got serious about dance when I was in high school and I’ve improved so much and now I’m making choreography and really wanna be a backup dancer/music video director, I would always compare myself to people like Sean lew, Kaycee, Charlize etc. and yes they have been dancing since they were kids but they are that very small percent of kids that were taking it seriously. There are people who have been dancing since they were 3 and it doesn’t look like it AT ALL but then there are people who started dancing when they were 18 and they are now professional and amazing, it’s all about discipline and motivation and how far you’re willing to go to achieve your goal ❤️

    this video really hits home for me, I recently started dancing hip hop and feel like the grandpa of all the kids that go there.
    there's always that thought in the back of my head "what's the point?" but like most of them said it's better than running on a treadmill.
    also doing contemporary I feel has helped a lot with my mental health.
    great content and even inspirational to see people of all ages just giving it a go

    I was dancing when I was still very young, about 5 years or so, but then I moved to another city and didn‘t continue dancing. It‘s the thing I regret most in my life, because I always knew that dancing is my biggest passion but for some reason I just didn‘t pick it up again althoug I really wanted to. I just felt too old and like I wasted my lifetime and this feeling continued on and on. Every year of my life I‘d be thinking: Why didn‘t I start last year when I was still 11/12/... , but then I realized that you think of yourself as older, because you only look at the younger people. Always remind yourself that you‘re Not getting older, so today is the youngest day you‘ll ever have in your entired life! So don‘t let regret stop you! You want to be a great dancer? If you put in enough work, you WILL get there! I believe in you so you should do too :))❤️

    Thank you guys for showing older dancers and older Steezy users. It's really encouraging to think there are people my age learning this stuff. I can fall down the TH-cam choreography rabbit hole for hours, just watching these amazing dancers, and I mean, I was a really good dancer when I was like, 21, 22, dancing in the clubs, but now...? I'm out of shape, I've got balance issues, I feel like I've totally lost my groove, and I'd just look stupid even trying, especially since I'd need to like, be so careful just not to just fall over. But then I started seeing folks like Bailey Sok and dancers who just look like they're having so much fun. SO much fun. And it looks fun! And like...I'm at home in my living room, who's going to see my 58 y/o self trying to learn hip-hop moves? And man, regular cardio and strength workouts are so boring. Dancing is the only kind of exercise that sounds fun to me...I think I'm talking myself into a Steezy membership....

    I'm in my 30s and I've been hoopdancing for over 11 years. It's funny, because I spend all this time encouraging others who are as old or older than me in many cases to jump into the hoop and get in touch with their bodies no matter their age, but here I am hesitant to start expanding my dancing abilities, when I've loved dance for as long as I can remember, but never had the courage to tryin (hooping was my introduction to having any sort of real rhythm).
    But this video and the comments have been really inspiring, and I think I'm finally read to hop into classes...it's just a matter of figuring out a schedule so I can keep up with hooping too lol. Anyway thank you for this video! It's clearly much needed for soooo many of us!

    When he said that if you start when you're little, you might not have enough discipline to improve, and that was really true for me. I was dancing without passion since I was 5, but I only really started to enjoy it and actively try to improve when I was 13, because I found dancers that I could really look up to.
