"I don't want you to get cancer" says Tony to Bren. How true these words are, we didn't want you to get cancer Victoria either. Thank you for the laughter.
I don't think I've ever laughed so often during a show-- every line is a winner-- and if I'm not laughing I'm blubbering-- talk about feeling wrung out after a show-- wow! You cannot beat the Brits-- they OWN comedy AND drama. The Theatre, period.
Almost 4 years since we lost her and of all the "celebrity" deaths in 2016, Victoria's is the one I feel most. The loss of such talent, her ability to encapsulate a bizarre mental picture that is so unbelievably funny in one pithy sentence and the mourning for what gems she might have given us makes everyday life just that bit darker.
How pleasant and sweet to drop by and visit these darling people again from time to time. Never gets old. Thank You, again, beautiful, wondrous Victoria.
Brilliant. Each episode is beautifully crafted with a blend of humour and pathos. Every member of the cast are on top form and now, with the tragic loss of Victoria Wood, makes the series more poignant than ever. I've watched every programme several times over and still find it hysterically funny and moving. She was an amazing talented artiste.
The one thing you can say about watching this superb series is you can be laughing like a hyena one minute and crying like your nan's just died the next! Whenever I'm feeling a tad down I play the box set and just laugh and cry till my ribs ache and my nose is all snotty! Bloody genius,Vicky Wood.
I have spent since 2001 watching this show almost every night as I lie in bed waiting to fall asleep. I actually dream the lines are being said in chorus by passers by. One of the best shows of all time. Cheers Victoria. We will always love you and mourn your loss.
I'm watching this for the second time. (I'm American, and I just discovered this show.) It took watching this twice for me to catch the pun! "Piss-up" isn't slang we use this side of the pond, but I watch a lot of UK TV... I love all those little gems that pop off like that while I'm re-watching. E.g., every line Twink says!
I have had to watch these shows at least three or four times a piece just to figure out what twinkle is saying does the actress that plays Twinkle really have that thick of an accent or is she just that good of an actress I would say she's just that good of an actress these shows are the absolute best
apparently Celia Imrie who plays Phillippa was stuck in traffic one day and she phoned Victoria Wood how she's stuck in traffic and how pissed off she was hence the scene where Phillippa is very angry was born
That's a great story Ellen! That is one of my fav scenes in the whole series especially when Bren says 2 bloodys in front seat, 2 bloodys in the back and a friggin on the roof rack.
Tbh that's not really British. A slice of lemon with Earl Grey as it has a smoky taste. PG Tips with regular milk is the more traditional, bricklayers tea we call it.
Was it the same hat that Anita showed around to everyone during the episode with the intern Sigourney and the painters getting the ladder stuck in the canteen?
Nick Robson she didn't know she was pregnant, she slipped awAy on Xmas eve, had the baby and then left it for Bren - the undertone being that she had baby blues.
It was written that Twinkle had a baby but didn't know but after the first series the actress lost a lot of weight so they had to quickly change it when they started filming the second series.
I think she was often able to use cliches and sentimentality to great effect (fairly similarly to Alan Bennett), but it gets a bit toothless cause it's a character sitcom that runs fine without plot (so much is about bread!) until it sort of goes "Actually it's about a predictable romance" (possibly because she wanted to have a really definite end point) and particularly in these last few episodes it's so centred around such a traditional nativity play happy ending that it really sinks into syrup (which is also understandable, they were Festive Specials so there was probably quite a lot of pressure to deliver something really... syrupy). That said, Dinnerladies was never mindblowing or surprising and I don't believe it was meant to be. I think it was very sweet, but it's not the thing I'd recommend if I were to try and explain why I love Victoria Wood.
I am at a point in my life like Brenda. I look at them and know I will never have one. My Significant Other is wasting my time. We dont even couple anymore. I hate that he is like this. I want a child with him. I dont want to just use a donor but at this oint that will be the only way i have a fmaily of my own. He is wasting my youth. It hurts, too, especially when you are really close to one, like she says.......
I can relate. Same story, only I'm 51, male, and divorced. My sister had a baby on Christmas Eve, so now all of my sibs have kids, and I was the only one who wanted them when I was young. Life will have its little surprises. But I gotta say it's nice having a smiling mob of kids (8) who call me Uncle :-)

That's why her writings were true and close to her heart.

Love this show, I just found it,!! Especially how generations blend , older ladies are like mothers and friends to younger ones!!!
Michael Kluko i worked in factories in the nineties that were just like this.
@@samlarner3198 Yes, it was!
It's like that at my work, we all rub along together one big disfuctional family.
Used to watch this sitcom when I was in London back in 1999 .I'm so happy to see the episodes again.Thank you for the upload.
I never get tired of watching

25 people who thumbed this down must have had a humour bypass! I think every episode is awesome and so clever/funny.
if only Victoria was still around to bring such joyous television to our screens.
I wish,
so warm, so caring , so funny. perfect
Best ever episode. Thanks.
Anita at the end always gets me tearing up.
Me too, especially in the middle of Victoria's closing theme. How does she talk like Bren and sing like that? Very emotional.
He didn't get anywhere I was in a wrap-round cardigan. Funniest line ever! RIP Victoria.
Wonderful!
I like the song without lyrics. I loved this episode.
My Dad was a Desert Rat........ Stan was on fire in this episode, briiliant!
RIP To The Great Victoria Wood AKA Bren Died 20th April 2016 Aged 62 From Cancer 💔😢💔
Louise Mcilwaine did you seriously need to post this on every video of hers?
15:43 She was so proud of that line!
Dear God, I love Victoria. xx
apparently Celia Imrie who plays Phillippa was stuck in traffic one day and she phoned Victoria Wood how she's stuck in traffic and how pissed off she was hence the scene where Phillippa is very angry was born

I love you, Vic xxx
love it
We miss you, Victoria Wood. :-)
Jean's ex Keith - what a way to waste a the millennium driving to get a wallpapering table
E.D.paul me 2. Love it.
Great hair.
Only a CBE for this genius. Disgraceful.
I like strong earl grey tea with evaporated milk to a fault so anything british gives me a tea craving
Tbh that's not really British. A slice of lemon with Earl Grey as it has a smoky taste.
PG Tips with regular milk is the more traditional, bricklayers tea we call it.
Oh dear, why would anyone put evaporated milk in Earl Grey? Are you American?
You sound American. Tut tut.
@@forgottenpalace4472 Well let's be honest, they think they know tea as they once threw it into a harbour.
When the Whistle Blows.....................
adam4757 no way! This is clever and heart warming.
The nerve of Keith coming to Jean's work. Not to wish her well or apologise for what he did. 😡
Why didn't any of them recognise the baby's hat?
Was it the same hat that Anita showed around to everyone during the episode with the intern Sigourney and the painters getting the ladder stuck in the canteen?
Yeah. So when did she have the baby? It looked like it was on Christmas Eve. Then she put him on the fire escape in this episode.
OMG Philliper needs to have a lie down i think
that word at 06:49 to 06:50.... spirajaratiff?? what is it??
I think they are a band
Spiragraff.
I think she said “ Spyro Gyra tape” it’s a jazz band🎵 🎹🎷🎺🎶
Well I'm worried about burning my flippin mouth. I've got a sex life to think of y'know! XD
Marry me Twink!!!
IT'S ALL BLURRY
I didnt know anita had a baby???

I don't see it? Nothing said here is not already being thought by everyone. Where is the wisdom? What is supposed to blow my mind?

Funny as a car crash
Canned laughter. That way the writers can put the laughs in when they think people should laugh.
+Donna Manning Maybe, but it was filmed in front of a live audience.
+Donna Manning FIlmed in front of a live audience, dear.
***** I guess they're cued when to laugh.
Donna Manning Might be, I wouldn't doubt. Nonetheless, I like the show, and I'm not easily pleased when it comes to humor.
