Whats worth noting is that steven tag is the first time pearl has shape shifted since the "death" of pink diamond when pearl shape shifted into rose quartz. Its a small thing that shows how much shes grown in recent years and that emotionally shes over atleast some of the trauma of that moment
It's actually kinda sad, steven missed out on most of his childhood, at the beginning of teh show you could see he wabted to just be a kid, but the gems would always walk past that. Now Steven's a grown up and they want him to treat him like a kid
I actually think it’s the reverse the gems always wanted Steven to live à normale Life and they left him out of missions but he is the one who insisted even though I understand him when the gems wanted treated him like a kid he didn’t want to
Exactly. Steven spent all his youth wanting to be a Crystal Gem and has stated many times that he wasn't a kid or didn't want to be treated like a kid.
He got his wish and it left him with C-PTSD.

It was great seeing other lapis lazuli’s just an indicator of how our lapis used to act and how exactly they terraform planets but they didn’t hold a candle in strength compared to our lapis.

Lapis is more powerful than the main crystal gems in the episodes she features in but I always attributed that to her being nearby a large source of water in the og series, but yeah I think you’re right this is probably why she’s stronger than the other lapises in Future
I wonder if the same would hypothetically apply to bismuths or other gems with strong elemental powers
I think this may be the best explanation for why Lapis is so much stronger than her counterparts.

A snow day is one of my fave episodes. Looking back at first season, we had this little silly and happy kid, making together breakfast to eat it with Pearl Garnet and Ametysth, he wanting yo go on mission but doing something silly not being really serious, and the gems always told him to serious. Now here he is this serious grown up teenegar and they missed his silliness, I love that.
lapis was holding back a lot against them, shes an era 1 gem so shes much stronger than them, as you could see they need each other to cause stronger attacks while lapis alone can do it

8:08 Yeah the pacing in the end of SU and SU future is really weird. It’s cus the show was rushed to finish after Rebecca Sugar insisted on including Garnet’s wedding after Cartoon Network tried to discourage it (and put Ruby in the dress just as an F U to regions that censored their relationship by editing a mustache onto ruby and giving her a male voice), so a lot of the final season and future was cut short. There were plans for more episodes with Centipeedle and Bluebird and other uncorrupted gems but a lot of stuff had to get cut in order to be able to show Steven’s journey in full.
Side note I think it’s so funny that just like how rubies are all kinda dumb, pearls are all kinda neurotic, and amethysts are all kinda goofy, lapises are apparently all kinda btchy 😅 they’re all mean girls lol
The steven tag episode is my all time favorite episode of the show I think

It almost feels like Steven Universe Future is targeted more towards children and while Steven Universe was for everyone.
Steven Universe Future is literally about Steven's progression into depression and how he needs therapy. Though I guess I can kinda understand why it would almost feel that way with the earlier episodes. I ain't going to spoil, but the later episodes definitely have darker themes.
@@meowsouls4499 I know that now. When I wrote that comment I was watching it simultaneously with their reaction. First I watched the episode, then I watched their reaction. So my first comment was very much from the perspective of the first handful of episodes.
And yes it did indeed get progressively darker and more emotional.
i always think lapis can easily reach diamond level or even beyond em if she becomes rageful n out if control. Doubt crystal gems would stand a chance

This is kind of what's disappointing. If you followed Pearl's arc, she really didn't like shapeshifting. And for her to actually do it is such a huge progress for her and they didn't even realise it. Sad.
