I must admit I was saddened to hear Revlon is bankrupt. They are nostalgic to me. Their lipsticks are still some of the best quality you can get at the drugstore - I adore "Cherries in the Snow." I wonder if some of their iconic products will still be produced by whoever buys them out? Not sure how that works, but it'd be sad to see these classics disappear forever.
I’m glad I bought Cherries In The Snow nail polish a few months ago! My glamorous cousin Martha always used to use Revlon. I’m sorry to hear the Company had to file bankruptcy!
I love Cherries in the Snow, bought the lipstick and nail polish recently and was so thrilled to be able to still purchase them but it is sad to think that they would disappear. I wouldn't mind purchasing a beautiful red from a smaller independent company, though.
They should not have discontinued some of their popular shades/ lines. Fir example, Fire and Ice Nail Polish. This was still popular. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Hi Laura, I'm a Cosmetologist & worked as a Sales Associate in a store featured in your video named "Bullock's". We were high-end, & in the '80s & '90s sold beautiful Revlon products. "Cherries in the Snow" & "Fire and Ice" lipsticks & nail polishes are & always will be classics.💄 "Charlie" & "Ultima II" lines were catchy & elegant. Brings back such great memories! Great job on the video, as usual. Can you cover "Estee Lauder", that I also used to sell? Happy New Year!🎆 Michelle Clapham
Revlon will always be one of my favorite brands. I think they should bring back their Ultima II line and sell it on the internet only. Back in the 80s their Nakeds line was the very first Nude makeup trend of my lifetime.
Omgoodness Yes! Their Glowtion tinted moisturizer and perfume Sheer Scent was the best products. I have never found a perfume that smells so good. Got compliments everytime I wore it.
I loved Revlon in the 90s Cindy Crawford era, their lipsticks were the best, and I loved Ultima II too! The Nakeds lipsticks were awesome. I miss those days in makeup history.
I was obsessed with the nakeds. It was the first nude makeup line and was created by Kevin Aucoin. I was in high school and it was pricey so I couldn't get much. Just a few pieces for Christmas or so. I wish they didn't go away.
I still use their nail polishes, base coat and top coats. Their cuticle oil is great. My mom wore Persian Melon and Pink in The Afternoon lipstick for years. I still have her old tubes.
I only found out about the bankruptcy a couple of weeks ago. I bought the Fire and Ice lipstick yesterday. I'll be buying more products to be on the safe side. I'd hate to lose Revlon. The company is an icon. I wish they would reissue those old colors in lip and nail products.
Revlon got out of bankruptcy. Thank god! I love this brand ❤ "Revlon Inc said on Tuesday that it has emerged from bankruptcy after cutting more than $2.7 billion in debt and handing control of the beauty products company to its lenders." 2 May 2023
Great video! I remember many of the print and TV ads from the 80s and 90s! The first time I was ever allowed to wear any makeup, it was Cherries In The Snow! My mom let me wear hers to my high school’s winter ball. I felt so glamorous! Revlon is an American classic!
Revlon’s Charles of the Ritz line had The Best powder foundations in the late 80s. Super soft and an amazing shade range, especially for the time. I miss it.
I grew up near their Edison, NJ plant. Revlon’s problem after the founders death and after the 80’s was how it was guided. It needed to reinvent itself and it never did. It became a dinosaur in a very competitive market of internet based cosmetic companies who were trendy, flashy and risqué. They ate their lunch. Revlon was slow at creating an internet based selling platform and by the time they did develop that platform it was too late. I think three other factors sealed their fate. 1. Women stopped buying their cosmetics in drugstores, sales were nominal. 2. The trend of young women pursuing more and more products that promoted skin care over cosmetics took their toll and 3. Their purchase of Elizabeth Arden crippled them financially. It’s a sad end to an iconic company who employed many people all over the world. JMO
Wish you had hi-lighted more of the iconic 80’s and 90’s and present era of the brand. Would have liked to hear more about that time, launching of liquid makeup, eyeshadows etc. Cindy Crawford wore iconic shades for years too. She defined 90’s makeup looks as much as Marilyn and Audrey.
Revlon do great lipsticks that newer brands rip off and rename. Max Factor also do great base products but most youtubers are incompetent with the formulations, applying way too much.
Interesting topic. In 2022 i started wearing Fire and Ice frangrqnce, part of Revlon, its one of current signatures. Interesting history. Clearly the pandemic changed things. Options are good but i hope they dont go away, nothing like a classic, hopefully they can bounce back.
This is one of my fav videos! I remember watching Mrs. Maisel and they mentioned Cherries in the Snow by Revlon and always wondered how they went from being sold in high end department stores to more affordable chain stores.
Finally allowed to wear lipstick when I entered highschool. Freshman year, new beginings, excitement and feeling like a rock star wearing my Revlon Toast of New York lipstick. Super sweet and special memories!
Dear Laura, I have always loved Revlon and still use their lipsticks, nail varnish and foundation. Thank you for this. Would you be able to do Helena Rubenstein? An amazing woman and company.
Love your historic videos about cosmetic brands. I was a Charlie’s girl back in the 70s. I purchased Charlie about a year ago. Loved Stetson also and Windsong. I loved Revlon was my go to and the lipsticks were wonderful. Thank you for the memories. Hope I can still find Revlon lipsticks may have to stick up.
My favorite nude brown 🤎 lipstick was a ColorStay promoted by Cindy Crawford in the 90s during the hype of this trend. Haven't found a similar perfect brown shade afterwards
I used to know all the names of those lipsticks I believe one of them was called vixen that I wore the 90s. Does anybody remember that one? There were a couple others too.
For the record Revlon makes some great products I used their liquid foundation in shade cappuccino for years lasted all day and they also have great beauty tools even if they're not as relevant as they were back in the nineties or eighties it doesn't take away that they make great products I still personally use Revlon to this day I just think they're not as popular as their contemporaries Maybelline Estee Lauder Lancome etc
I remember moon drops skin care products, I have extremely sensitive skin and this is still the only product I’ve ever used that I never had issues with, I’m now 50, and how I wish they would bring the line back!
Loved this video! I ended up snagging a dead stock 1950s cleanser from Revlon & a dead stock “intimate” perfume. I should probably stock up on the classic lip colors
Max factor had to change the name. The heirs rebranded as smashbox, after Andrew Luster was convicted of drugging women with ghb and raping them. He fled to mexico and was caught by dog the bounty hunter. I made none of this up.
Great documentary! My mother used a number of Revlon products in the 1960s and 70s. One of my favorite fragrances is Charlie. I still wear it to this day. I love the old cosmetic companies. There is a lot missing in today's market. The majority don't cater to classic women.
Very true. Besame is a better one but has a limited range. Trying to find things like matching dusing powder is very hard. All modern women seem to use deodorant only.

Revlon is back and better than ever! I’m grateful Revlon doesn’t test on animals. I had to stop buying maybelline and L’Oréal products because of racism and animal testing.
Yes, they have 12 new lipstick colors. I love the formula and how they wear and the colors are awesome! I’ve already bought six and I will be repurchasing all of the ones that I bought. I still have back ups of their old blush formula which I preferred it was more of a sheeny blush I probably have 10 or 12 back ups. I’m kind of hoping they bring it back or expand on the blush range they have now which I consider to be way too powdery. The colors are pretty I will always support the brand 👍

Laura Jane!! Been awhile since I've had the time to visit your channel... Congratulations on achieving 100k+ subscribers, well deserved. 🎉🥳 Sad to see Revlon going through this upheaval, but, looks like Megan Thee Stallion's spokesmodel tenure may be helping get back to it's glory. I love Charlie and Fire and Ice fragrances, and of course the iconic créme to powder compact foundation (cappuccino) 🥰 Revlon has been a standout amongst the drugstore brands b/c of the full range of products and shades they offer consumers, they are pioneers in representating the consumers with such iconic ads like showcasing Naomi Simms, Beverly Johnson.
Revlon spells out glamour to the woman who wears their cosmetics. I've used Revlon in the past especially their top quality nail varnishes. I hope they can stick around a bit longer.
I must say that I love the research and detail in your videos - another brilliant presentation! Early in the pandemic, I remember talking with my colleagues about freefalling stock values of lipstick companies. My mom only wore "love that red", a true Revlon girl. Brands need to be eco- and vegan, cruelty-free- progressive to survive in today's market. Keep up the GREAT WORK, GIRL!!!!
I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. Can you do a video on the first viral perfume ever? We all know Chanel # 5 but there must be something before that-White shoulders comes to mind.
Just a few years ago I bought my first lipsticks from revlon. “Love that Red” and “Cherries in the Snow” I love them both very much and I feel like such a woman when I wear them. I’ve been wearing the matching Cherries in the Snow nail polish for awhile too. They aren’t the flashiest brand but their lip and nail colors are just divine (in my opinion)
I love Revlon lipstick. I wear several shades and stocked up when I heard about the company filing for bankruptcy protection. I like the affordability and quality. I don’t care about fancy packaging - as it’s usually used as an excuse for price increases 😂
Revlon are releasing a lot of new products for the new year so I think they are safe. I saw per neilson scantrack they are the number 1 mass lipstick. That is just poor management to be a best seller and be in bankruptcy . They need a new CEO who cares about the brand. Get a woman for God's sake!!!
Off topic but could you review 5 and 10 cent store lines from the 60s and 70s such as Angel Face and Westmore? I was a teen who loved these affordable lines back in the day.
Very sad. I love thier shade "coffee bean". I grew up with Revlon and Max Factor. I miss both brands. It a shame new management takes over and ruins the foundation of the business. Max Factor and Revlon does have great items.
Yes! I LOVED the coffee bean line and still have some blush in that shade, even though it's old, my skin has dried out so most of my makeup is in cream form, and it doesn't go well with my white hair. But I'll probably hang onto it just because I can! LOL 💄
I love Revlon make up and they collaborated with Ideal toys to make a beautiful doll line called Revlon doll (and the Little Miss Revlon doll) in the 1950s.
Une marque de maquillage qui fait partie de ma vie depuis si longtemps ! Et sa magnifique eau de toilette "Charlie Blue" qui m'accompagne depuis son lancement sur le marché en 1974 ! Je ne peux m'imaginer sans elle !
I was sad to hear they were going bankrupt and am glad they worked out a deal with their lenders because Super Lustrous lipsticks are my absolute favorite. I recently tried their Colorstay Matte Suede and it's really good too but SL line is the best imo bc they're fragrance free unlike most drugstore lipsticks.
I ALWAYS LOVED REVLON THEY WERE THE FIRST MAKEUP COMPANY I USED, YEARS AGO THEY PUT R ON EVERYTHING MY INITIAL I OLD ITEMS LIKE THAT I STOPTED BUYING NEW REVLON ALONG WITH ANY MAKEUP BRAND THAT TESTS ON ANIMALS, IF REVLON STOPS DOING THAT I WILL BUY THEM AGAIN WISH THEM THE BEST THANKS FOR THIS POST
I heard from a friend that worked for them that the employees at the top in the last 15 years where hard core narcissists. Sad to loss a couple products I’ve always used.

I love Revlon make up and they collaborated with Ideal toys to make a beautiful doll line called Revlon doll (and the Little Miss Revlon doll) in the 1950s.
The dolls look so cute! I wish I could find one at a good price!
Happy new year always enjoyed ur videos, thank u very much
The model was Lauren Hutton
Great eyeshadows!
Une marque de maquillage qui fait partie de ma vie depuis si longtemps ! Et sa magnifique eau de toilette "Charlie Blue" qui m'accompagne depuis son lancement sur le marché en 1974 ! Je ne peux m'imaginer sans elle !
Happy New Year 🎈🎊🎆 🎉❤ HugsfromNYC 🍎
Happy new year lovely!!
Happy New Year Laura!!! : )
Shelley Hack, one time face of Charlie Perfume, one time "Charlie's Angel".
i have cherries in the snow matte and the nail polish and ill be sad to see them go
Hopefully they will recover. In February it looks like a new deal was made to help get them out of debt.
Pour moi une merveille marque de cosmétiques et une eau de toilette mythique que je porte toujours "Charlie Blue" !
Pretty sure they haven’t for years
I heard from a friend that worked for them that the employees at the top in the last 15 years where hard core narcissists. Sad to loss a couple products I’ve always used.
Pure nostalgia of my college years
Wasn't Revlon the one's that came out with the ad " Fire and Ice " back in the 1950's or 60's?
Yes!
@@StaciLeaBeauty I loved those colorful advertisements. They really were eye-catching. Thanks. Thanks for posting this great video.
I still have a bottle of Fire & Ice perfume
How does it smell?!
can you cover Flame Glo cosmetics? it's an obscure one
Never heard of that!
I stopped using Revlon when I found out they weren't cruelty free
Revlon got out of bankruptcy. Thank god! I love this brand ❤
