It's so nice to see someone work a normal job and say how much they enjoy it! I usually see people complaining about their job, but this was a pleasant surprise.
Awww thank you so much. I love what I do, and very grateful for working a job that I love.
Thank you so much for making this video! I honestly knew I wanted to do something in medical. It was hard for me to make a decision because this is a job that you never see get done. I had no idea this job had ever existed. I seriously wish I knew about this job in high school I would have pursued it long ago. I feel like jobs like this, young people should be aware of. Keep up the good work!
You’re very welcome I’m happy that it was able to help you and give you some insight. Thank you so much
I’ve been a medical biller for 2 months. I do commercial insurance. I’m still learning. A little stressful but I’m liking it!
Do you work for a hospital or doctors office?
I been in my billing job 3 weeks I’m learning and it’s a little stressful bc I’m new at it
@@Itsdkhidid you start out with a background (education) in billing or did you just land a job in the field? Asking bc I’ve been applying for positions but want to know my chances of landing a job without the education. 😣
Passing the medical billing coding is when you study hard,if you can't study or you don't have time for your studies I'd advise you get yourself help like Mr Thomas
Really, you'll know him? I even thought i was the only one he has helped walk through the fears and falls of medical billing coding exam
I’m currently taking both billing and coding. I graduate in July I’m excited hope anyone looking to get into this field finds the right school ❤
Hi helenna6891, I start medical billing and coding in 2 days. Is it hard? What advice would you give a newbie?
@@MegaCandyrock I’ll be done in July it isn’t hard. Barley any math, you have to remember codes but codes change so they give you books. Just if anything need help ask your teacher or find someone in the field that can help with tutoring and good luck
@creolgal @Helenna what school/program did you guys do? I’m looking to start soon, but my local community college doesn’t offer online.
How long is your program?? i plan to register soon just collecting as much info as I can!

I'm starting a medical billing and coding course and I'm so excited. I'm looking forward to working from home as a biller then go back to school for coding. Thanks for sharing.
Awww congratulations on your new journey I hope you love it
I thought medical coding and billing was together
@@Ashley-rz6kh not necessarily it all depends on where you work. But when you take a course for it, it is combined together you learn the billing side and coding.
What online course do you suggest?
I'm a property manager and I'm in week 5 of my medical billing class.... I'm seating here like next year around this time how would my life be different if I took this class seriously.... and your video pops up!! I want to be a medical biller so thanks for this video
Your very welcome
Thank you for this video, it's helpful. I am interviewing for a medical billing position tomorrow and it's been a cool minute since I was in medical assistant school so I kind of forgot most things. How is your office so calm? The office I worked at as a MA was a hot mess. Loud, catty, toxic to say the least. Your work environment seems way less stressful like you actually can get stuff done.
My environment was always calm we don’t have that many people in the office. All of the billers work from home but rotating every month someone comes in the office to handle the paper claims.
I’m currently completing my externship for MBC and I love it so far! I graduate soon so I’m trying to get an idea of how work will actually be like ☺️
Congratulations on your accomplishment, have you decided what field you want to work in?
@@KeepingitrealGirlEvy I don’t know yet! I graduate after I can pass my NCCT exam and after that my school has a program that helps us try to find jobs. But any tips and tricks on how to get my foot in the door would be so helpful 🫶🏻
What school are you using if you don’t mind me asking
That water though! ✅ I'm about to be doing all those VA claims! Anyways, I have my accounting degrees. But do you recommend any medical billing course that could assist with all those different commercial insurances? I've been in the medical field since I was 17. But health insurance companies have only gotten more complicated with time... Any help would be appreciated. ❤ Ty so much for sharing. Can't wait to get started in my new part of the medical field... 😊
Tbh the courses don’t really dive into each insurances. To really learn about the different insurances comes with the job, that’s how I was able to learn. Till this day I’m still learning new things about insurances. Congratulations on your new journey best of luck.
Lmao I love this for you! I’m certified in both billing and coding as well. I can’t wait to get into a hospital myself ! I feel like if I was doing billing in the hospital I probably would feel differently about billing (these small companies are something else gurl). My passion is in coding but I really appreciate this video and I love the vibe you have towards your job❤
Awww thank you so much! See me I hate coding lol, I love the hospital setting because the work is divided, thank you for taking the time to watch my video I appreciate it.
Leave the music out of your videos, it makes it hard for us to hear you.
awesome
Thank you
Great video. I start my medical and billing class next week...
Ever thought about working independent?
Thank you so much. I actually have and I’m thinking about if I actually want to go down that road.
I loveeee your video! I'm currently taking an online course, and I have 3 modules left before I take the real CPB exam... I am NERVOUS AF FOR IT 😭 LMAO!!!
Thank you so much. That’s good congratulations! Don’t be nervous just study and you’ll pass not rush to take it though give yourself some time to study.
Which online course are you taking?
What kind of question should I look out for ?
Your hospital must be so little. I do also billing for BCBS insurance only and we have 6 people on our team alone 😅
No the hospital I work for isn’t small I do all the commercial billing not just one carrier.
Hi Ms. Evy! I just graduated February 7th from medical billing and coding and they offer us the ncct exam. But I would love to become a professional biller any tips and suggestions. Words of wisdoms..please and thank you
Hi Jay, congratulations on graduating🎉if you’re looking to become a professional biller I would suggest the CPB exam that’s specifically for billing only and CPC+ CPB would be for billing and coding. As I always say consult with god and ask him to guide you on your journey
Keep yr certificate because yr job may require you to be certified to keep the job…Great video
My job doesn’t require us to be certified. I actually got the job before I finished my certification and got certified. Thank you 😊
Hello , I’m starting my medical billing externship tomorrow at a small therapy center for older people and don’t know what to expect
Congratulations 🎉 as far as small offices go I wouldn’t know because I’ve always worked for big companies. Best advice be yourself take as many notes as you can and ask as many questions until it makes sense to you. Good luck

I would like to get into medical billing & coding. Do you have any suggestions on a good school or program to get started with. How did you get started?
Community college student here I just started this semester. My advice search certifications and continuing education careers in your nearest community college. My classes are online and only 2 semesters. 1 semester if I do it in person
I need a legit school to get into. Any advice?
Do you have any tips on finding jobs maybe like this? I am changing my career plan in school to this and would like to mostly work remotely but wouldn't mind some office days.
Hi, make sure your resume correlate with the type of jobs your applying for, and apply everyday to jobs your willing to work to gain experience. I started working remotely because of covid and they ended up keeping us permanently.
Thank you so much …. I was curious what would be the starting pay In North Carolina is it better to have an certification or a degree?
Hi, Yw and I wouldn’t know the starting pay in NC. You can research the area you’re in to see the starting pay. In my opinion a certification cause it all comes down to experience.
Thank you what about the hours are you likely to be cut one week and then the next week have hours … I work in retail and I hate it one week I have hours the next I don’t I want to start over completely or are you allowed to work overtime ? …..
I'm a medical biller and the answer to pay and hours are different for everyone and are based on different factors. Check out your local department of labor and if you can talk to people in the field in your area in NC that would be helpful to you.
Great video. Do you have to know a lot of coding on your job? Do you use coding books?
Thank you so much. No not really, and no I don’t actually code I do billing so I don’t use the cpt books.
I just passed my CCA exam and I’m trying to apply for employment but for the most part they require experience which is discouraging. My school did not provide any internships but they do help students try and find employment. Do you have any suggestions?
Congratulations 🎊 yes it can be hard without experience but trust me god will place you where you need to be. Pray and ask him for guidance and also look for opportunities at doctors office maybe front desk just to get your feet wet and also a way into a place to get some experience.
Thank you for your encouragement and congratulations you also for accomplishing your goals and dream of working in a hospital. May I ask what certification did you obtain?
What school did you get your certifications for? Is it hard to get started as a biller and a coder? I ask because I've always wanted to do this but hesitant.
A community college or med certs online
I would love your job
Does your job consist of talking on the phone any??
So does your job consist of talking on the phone any??
Hi evy! I am in medical billing and coding class. But I’m question myself if is it easy to get a job in that field and if the pay will be ok for someone who has a certificate. Can you give me any advice?
Hi, obtaining a job in the field can vary. Depending on where you want to work, for example a doctors office some are willing to train and don’t require that much experience. I work for a hospital,so they do require some medical billing experience but they trained me on their system. As far as pay goes again depends on where you work but you do not need to be state certified to get a job you can obtain a job with your certification of completion from your school. Hope it helps and good luck in your classes.
Experts in the field says, "get your certification anyway. With it you can initially get paid more than without it as a beginner." After that experience will speaks 4 itself. And your chances of being denied a job is slim too.
@@KeepingitrealGirlEvy How did you break into the field?
I'm still in school but I can't wait to start, what's it like starting out??
My honest opinion.. starting out for me wasn’t difficult because I held jobs in the medical field prior to this one. The only thing I had to learn was hospital billing which wasn’t difficult.
I know you dont like to disclose pay. But is it good? Worth it? I see alot of listings and reasearch that is only a few dollars over minimmun wage and im scared lol
Yes it is but remember every company is different some offer bonuses and some don’t you just have to see what best suits you and my company every year we get evaluated so based on our performance is how we get raises.
I’ve been doing so much research on medical billing! Is there any advice you can give if it’s something for/not for you??
It’s not a hard field, you would have to determine if it’s something you can see yourself doing. The only way to know is to try it out.
Do you know if MedCert is good to get a certification from do medical billing ?
Hi, I’ve never heard of them.
Hello!! I’m seriously considering taking a medical billing course. Is it difficult to pass the certification?? I took medical coding some years ago and didn’t pass the timed certification. I love coding and did well in my class. I’m really considering this course now. Please give honest and blunt feedback on your thoughts and experience passing the certification. Glad I found your videos! Blessings!
Hi, I would definitely recommend you taking a course. As far as the test goes, I took it 4 years ago, in my opinion it was long not necessarily hard. I would suggest studying and doing practice exams to prepare your self for it. I always feel like it’s a mental thing going into anything, I never told myself that it was hard I just did a lot of practice exams and kept a positive mindset.
❤️❤️👍🏼☺️
I am currently taking online classes for my medical billing and coding certificate. i want to do more of the billing part of it but i dont know where to start when it comes to looking for a job. Ive looked on Indeed and stuff like that but there are not a lot or any entry level billing positions. How did you find your job? Do you know of any legit employee opportunities? Im in Virginia if that helps
Hi, I’ve always had good results with indeed. But also check company websites as well.
I just started my class as a medical biller and coder I currently work as a receptionist at a urgent care is that a good starting point for this career
Congratulations on your new journey! Absolutely anything in the medical field is a great start.
Thank you what about the hours are you likely to be cut one week and then the next week have hours … I work in retail and I hate it one week I have hours the next I don’t I want to start over completely or are you allowed to work overtime ? …..
Retail and the health field is two totally different fields. from my experience I worked 40 hours a week sometimes more due to OT. Again it all depends on where you work if they offer OT and their workload.
@@KeepingitrealGirlEvy You are correct 🙌🏽 I was just curious on how things work on the healthcare side of things ….. how many classes did you have to take?

I am currently enrolled in school obtaining my associates degree in medical billing and coding. I have roughly 4 months left until I graduate. After viewing this I am confident that I’ll enjoy working in my field and only with a company that has integrity. Are my standards too high? I want to be happy about who I work for but times are hard and I need a good job. What advice can you provide me with on my journey if you don’t mind sharing. Thank you for posting this❤😊
No, you’re standards aren’t high. I’m a firm believer in praying for the things that I want and right now with my new job I definitely prayed my way into it. My advice, pray, study, research and apply to the jobs that you can see yourself working even if the pay may not be high, get your foot into the door and get experience you have to start somewhere.
@@KeepingitrealGirlEvy thank you so much for your words they are appreciated. I know that including the most high will ensure I’m right where I need to be🙏🏾😇❤️

Can someone please suggest some good online schools.?? Looking to get into this field and all the information on internet is too overwhelming.
I did Carrington college totally online done in 9 mos.
how many classes did you have to take?
I took a 3 course class in a community college based in brooklyn and a national certificate called national healthcareer association. I also intend on getting aapc specialties Like risk adjustment compliance officer, stand-alone specialties, etc...
Any advice to someone who hasn’t taken medical billing and coding classes? Are they hard or how to prepare?
Just make sure that it is something that you want to do. I don’t think anything is hard it all depends on your mindset and how you approach the situation. Focus and studying and you’ll understand it.

I’m looking to become a medical coder/biller 🎉 I heard I’ll have to take a reading and math test and I’ll only have 2x to pass it. Is it hard ? I’m not a math girl 😩
Hey girl as long as you study trust me you’ll pass it everyone’s experience is different so don’t let other people’s experiences affect your experience I’m not sure if this is for everyone but a part of the test is open book cause you will not be able to remember all the codes by head.
I’m a CPC, studying for CRC. My FT I am a Biller, not a coder (I hate billing/ coding has my heart)
But can I ask why you sent your VA claims certified mail? That’s not something we do--
To keep track of the records and claim so if they say they didn’t receive it we have proof that it was sent out.
Yes, sending them certified is important because some payers love to say they never received the claims...lol
yeah but how much did they start you with?
I rather not disclose that information
Do you get to set your hours? Can you work at night?
No I worked from 8-4:30pm
Are you familiar with risk adjustment?
I’ve heard of it but never actually worked with it

@CloudSky_ I'm a medical biller and I have to interact with both patients and payers. I specifically doing physician billing, but everyone's duties won't be the same.
