    There is a new comparison between Presonus Eris E4.5 and JBL LSR305 I made, and this time it is more fair, especially to JBL that was a bit to far apart in this comparison. Have a look here : th-cam.com/video/jXlUD7-C5sY/w-d-xo.html

    WTF... I am so positivly surprised of Presonus.... it is fantastic to me. I hear a sound extremly perfect. Respect for JBL but in this video I love the Eris E4.5. Thank you for the sound test.

    Presonus has more clear mids, and slightly more crisp upper treble. The jbl's mid bass hump muddies the mids up a bit. With the presonus, , for example, you can actually hear the hands clapping at about 3:30, whereas with the jbl it sounded maybe like leather gloves hitting each other. Agree jbl more bass impact, but at what price? do you really want to lose mid clarity, where reality lives? I think I will ultimately go with a mid-true monitor like this one or the 5.0, or possibly another brand, and add a subwoofer for real bass, not 150 hertz bumped bass.
    Also, I need a front ported speaker b/c I need to place the speakers about 2" from the rear wall, which cannot have sound treatment for visual (wife) reasons.

      @XX-121 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      maybe thats why mixes mastered on the jbl's sound so much better when heard on low quality speakers???! even with a better (louder, more bass) set of monitors i, now, always run my mixes through the jbls before its released (with and without sub, of course).
      now don't expect to rock a house party with these, they don't get super loud but they are an awesome tool to have in your arsenal.

      actually I would say, you might hear it wrong.. instead of hand clapping - there is guitar wood taping .. I own these jbls about year and they are really incredibly accurate .. but to be sure, I checked with my senn hd280pro .. maybe you should check once more. And definitely I wouldn´t make any premature decisions based on this video.

      They were based on the JBL $50,000.00 mastering speakers. I got the E4.5's for remote recording over the iLouds.

    Mids are so good on the Eris but check that deep bass on the JBL's at 4:57 :) Soo deep - also better highs the JBL LSR 305!

      In the store I listened to Eris 5 also, very similar to JBL, also in price. I went with the Eris 4.5 cuz I found it a great value speaker. I am surprised to how well defined the lows are on these speakers but if u buy these speakers for use as PC speakers, as I did, buy "foam" stands at least, 10x better sound with no resonance through the desk :D

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree on both. Eris E4.5 is a great little speaker, and foam pads "elevate" the sound to higher levels for very little money. Cheers!

    Hi,
    I noticed how helpful you were with other people in the comments, which is awesome.
    I'm using standard Logitech speakers to produce and mix orchestral music. I've decided that I'm going to get a pair of audio monitors and have been looking around at a few different ones on the web. I don't have an audio interface and am using the onboard sound card from my PC. I was planning on getting the JBL LSR305s because I found a pair with some stands, but I'm not sure if I really need to spend so much. Most other people that review studio monitors have lots of experience with different kinds. A lot of the reviews also tend to review them from an EDM standpoint. I've never owned a pair of studio monitors, and haven't heard any either, but I want to get some to improve my mixes. Would going straight to the JBL's be best, or would going for a pair like the Presonus Eris 4.5 be good enough? I'm guessing anything will sound better than what I have now. I've just heard so many good things about the JBL's and am after some that won't break after a few months of usage.
    Edit: I just found Presonus Eris 4.5's on sale too.
    Thanks for the video!

      +Kurt Tomlinson | Compositions Thank You for Your kind words:) In Your case I would get as good monitors as possible. If that is JBL, than awesome, because they are excellent monitors for money. Presonus is also a good value, but lacks power and a bit of bass quality and depth, compared to JBL. Midrange and heights also are more detailed and sweet in JBL. I can listen to JBL for hours and and my ears are fine, where Presonus is more agressive in top end, and can be tiring on longer sessions. Go for JBL.

      dude, I tried Batman vs Superman, watched the whole movie with the jbl setup settings: flat equalizer and VLC player.
      JUST ONE WORD: BEAUTIFUL: center representation of dialog, effects were crisp and divided into left and right, and must say these things keep the whole low frequency completely separate from the vocal and effects, the low has a very big immersive bottom, bass was so tight and shakes everything on half volume during explosions and you will not feel the bass it is so big and blend into your room, just like theaters.

    nice review! id like to share for those whod be in the same situation. yes i also had the same choices to end with in my entry level search for studio monitors. crossing out m-audio, krks. unfo i didt try yamahas since price here for them were a bit steep. the eris had a character that stuck with me after the auditions. and after hearing it here again, i can def say that sonic/sound character is def there. on a certain song test i did, i found the eris to be more revealing with a certain detail than the jbl. many also noticed it weakness on the lows, but i think with proper positioning, it can provide a decent extension for them lows. yes like you said, a more forward sound. it also sounded engaging even without critical listening in front of them, say just relaxing on the couch, it would still play the music nicely.
    unfortunately, happily without regret, i got the JBLS. why? since these were intended for mixing, i found the JBLs to have had a bigger soundstage. it also produced more LOWs of course and just felt to be the more dependable choice for an entry leveler on mixing. unfo i read a review or comment re the jbls that they were scooped sounding. i didnt want it to affect me, but it seemed he may have a point.
    when i have the extra cash, id def get the eris 4.5s and put them in my room. can also be a good backup for the mixing. i heard the the CERES' and they were more commercial sounding than the eris re lows. perhaps good for the bedroom chill.
    thanks for the review!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank You for Your opinion. Eris seem to push the detail up front while JBL seem to be more laid back in comparison, but definietly not lacking in detail. I like the latter presentaion more as it is more careful with my ears ;) Cheers!

    Really really helpful! You said in some comment earlier that guitar sounds better on the Presonus because of more pronounced upper midrange than JBL. I listen to guitar music like rock 99% of the time, so do you think I should pick Presonus? I have money for JBL also, but if guitar sounds better on Presonus I might get more out of it in the end. I dont use speakers to mix, just listen to music at home at my pc. Really unsure which one to get!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Guitars on Presouns are not "sounding better" per se, but they are more pushed forward in the mix thanks to emphasis E4.5 has in the upper midrange. This emphasis helps guitars cut through more easily, but at the same time can be tiring to ears on longer listening. My opinion is simple, if You have the money and the space for JBL LSR305, than definitely go for it. JBL does not emphasise midrange as much, it has more balanced sound with more details and superior bass compared to Presonus. It is also more gentle to Your ears, so it will let You enjoy Your rock music longer ;)

      @YesterdaysNow 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure I wont be disappointed with them! Would you recommend playing with the settings at the back for bass or highs or leave it all at 0? (for pure music listening). I think I might have to reduce bass a bit cause they will be close to a wall behind my desk. But I heard if u increase highs it will tire your ears.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I recommend to leave the settings at neutral position for few days before the speakers settle in. After those few days You will know if You need to tweak the sound in any way. I keep all the tone settings at neutral in my JBL's with cabinets placed 20cm away from back wall and they work well this way.

    Did your presonus eris hum like crazy? I've heard a few people speak of poor grounding and or transformer quality issues.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tested two pairs of E4.5 and one E5 and they where OK with only a bit of hiss on level comparable to other monitors, but I also heard that some people had some problems with them. It is hard to judge what percentage of units has the problems, most of the people who had problems with them will be vocal about it, those without problems will go about their business silently ;)

    Hi and thanks for the review.
    Do you recommend Presonus Eris E4.5 for listening music, gaming (cars games) and watch some movies?
    I have a laptop with jack 3.5.
    Sorry for my english.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For music Eris is great choice but I do not know how much You care about the deep bass in games and movies, because E4.5 can go to around 60Hz with nothing below. If You add a sub later than the combo will be killer, but if You do not plan on buying a sub than I would recommend JBL LSR305 that will be better with movies and games and even better with music. Cheers!

    Hi, thanks for these great reviews! I'm trying to decide between the this Eris 4.5 and the Edifier R1700BT. Regarding the sound quality, is there too much difference between those 2? Which has a better bass response? If the price would be the same for these 2 models, which one would you recommend for someone who likes V-shaped sound? Thanks in advance!!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Maximo Salas Hi there! The difference in sound between these two is quite big. Eris E4.5 is more detailed and naturals sounding speaker across the range, especially the bass response from Eris beats the R1700BT. Bass from E4.5 is more extended, more detailed and less forced in upper ranges. If they would sell for the same money there would be no contest, Presonus Eris E4.5 wins. Also, E4.5 has extensive tone controls, so You can tweak the sound to Your liking.

    • @maximosalas
      @maximosalas 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Digital Stereophony Thank you for the quick response! I'll purchase the Eris then. In case I want to add a subwoofer in the future (Like the Temblor T8) which would be the best way to connect them together? I currently have my onboard sound card (ALC1150) so I was thinking in buying a better DAC for these, like the AudioQuest Dragonfly (so I can use it in my notebook as well), do you think it will be a good combination? Thanks in advance!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maximo Salas Connecting E4.5 with sub is fairly simple and highly recommended ;) You have to connect the sub to Your source, just like You would connect speakers to it, and then you connect E4.5 to outputs on Your sub. This way signal goes through sub, and it's filters, to the speakers. DAC is also good idea, but for me personally, adding a good sub makes much bigger difference than adding DAC. If You can afforrd both, than great, go for both! Cheers!

    did you notice ever so slight "lisp / sibilance" with Eris in 12k-16k Hz range (it's way above vocals range that's why i'm using quotes but the effect is similar)? small EQ roll-off on the highs helps but i can still detect it (damn you, good hearing haha). maybe Eris is just too sensitive and i have to try a different source/ DAC. just wondering if anybody had similar experience.

    • @DSAUDIOreview

      I never felt they lack lows at all, but for someone who is used to overblown distorted bass from cheap 2.1 setups JBL's can get some time to use to. If You like natural balanced sound than You have nothing to be afraid of, JBL will have plenty of bass for Your enjoyment ;)

    I am also in quest for some nice decent monitors/speakers for my computer system and need to decide what to buy. I am not into producing/mixing.Just listening music and for gaming/movies on my PC.
    Regarding your comparison test which is not fair toward smaller/cheaper PreSonus, i think these speakers really hold well. Since i am audiophile i like true flat response and hate boomy bass and any kind of presence effect. I usually listen on my DIY Dynaudio speakers with Aleph 4 amp, but these are in my listening room.I need something affordable for my entertaining room. Do you think these Presonus speakers will be good enough for me. How can you describe recreation of soundstage with Presonus Eris?
    I dont have to many possibilities here in that price range.Presonus Ceres C3.5BT, Presonus Eris E4.5, Fluid Audio C5 and Fluid Audio F4 among cheaper studio monitors. I can also get Edifier R1280T,Edifier R1700BT and R1800BT trough e-bay or Amazon fromUK.

      +Digital Stereophony Thanx for reply mate,
      JBLs are kinda big for my desktop space and goes beyond my budget though i would like to own a pair :)
      I need to point out that in Croatia all prices are some30% or more higher than in ie US.
      I forgot to mention that i have some more contenders available:
      Audioengine A2+ and Wharfedale DS1.
      Did you have chance to test these? Audioengine A2+ is my favorite regarding build quality and size though i am afraid that it cant deliver decent low end due small size of driver and enclosure, but i stumble on comment here on yt that A2+ have more bass than Presonus Eris 4.5 which is crazy to dig since they are so small.
      Same as Wharfedale DS1, i hear and read awesome reviews on net about these small speakers though again they are also so small in size and i dont want to spend my money and be dissapointed.
      So i would be greatful if you have more comments about these. It will help me to decide.
      I check your blog.It is awesome and i can see you are real audiophile from your analysis :)
      Thanx mate and i hardly wait for your input bout this

      +Zox Wolf Thank You for Your kind words, Sir! Presonus hits the sweet spot for size/sound for the speakers I had pleasure to test recently. Audioengine looks cool but there is limt of what You can pump out of cabinets this small. It will definitely lag behind E4.5 in bass depth and max volume. The only way that A2+ can have more precieved bass is by bass boost in upper region. The same trick was used in Mackie CR4 and Edifier R1700BT I tested recently, they had no bass below 75Hz. Eris E4.5 gets my vote in Your case ;)

      Basically, I wanted to test Eris 4.5 instead of Eris 5 because I was interested in their sound quality at more attractive price point. JBL is there because I compare all speakers I test with them. JBL is my point of reference in budget audio at the moment.

    • @ChannelerMG
      @ChannelerMG 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats like comparing a Chevy to a BMW Simply because you own a BMW!... You compare budget speakers to OTHER budget speakers.... MOST of the speakers i've watched you compare to against the LSR305's are NOT in JBL's price range making most of your listening tests useless for comparison shoppers and is hardly "Fair"... You have all these tests comparing lesser speakers to the JBL's costing twice as much in many instances, and then you say how you prefer the JBL's... Well yea WTF Duh! ~ I'm not trying to knock your preferences. But if the point if to give BALANCED reviews it would be far more useful to compare EQUAL Size and costing speakers to the same!.... Thanks for your reply :)

Also this was never ment to be fair, it is just a viedo that helps to put speakers in to perspective. It would be ideal to only compare speakers from the same shelf, but that would be not as interesting for me personally. Also, considering I have limited time and budget for this, it is not always possible to get two comparable new speakers. I try to go with what takes my attention at the moment and JBL is used as a reference point for me. Peace ;)

      Smilez ~ Thats fine and i totally understand that and you should say that in your Posts for people that aren't as well educated! ~ Because just looking at your video's and the titles you would think you were trying to promote "Fair" comparisons not simply your thoughts! ~ I'm a Studio professional that owns some of these speakers including the JBL's, and i'd never put most of the speakers you compare up against the LSR305's ~ Again, if your reference is a BMW, the Chevys will always loose! ~ LOL ~ Peace :)

    Really interested in buying a pair of LSR305. Any good advice?
    -Is it worth it to buy a sub?
    -Not sure if I should buy a soundcard since it's not for professional use..
    -What about isolation pads?
    Thanks!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! JBL LSR305 is an excellent choice. My advice would be, buy speakers and isolation pads first. Isolation pads are cheap way to isolate the speaker from the surface, rise the speakers a bit and angle them at Your ears, definitely a good investment (go with some cheap foam ones as they do great job despite low price). Subwoofer is great addition if You like bass heavy music or watch lots of movies, so when You get the speakers You will be the judge on this one, after You get to know the speakers. Sound card or external DAC is also something that You can skip at first and decide later when You get the speakers as modern integrated sound cards are of good enough quality to start with. Cheers!

      @DSAUDIOreview  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +J11 hiss levels are comparable between JBL, Yamaha and Presonus. I would say that Yamahas are my least favorite choice here. If You can afford JBL than go for it, if not than Presonus is also great

    JBL's are wider apart and further forwards so not really a like for like comparison in terms of mic positioning. Also on different stands.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Paul Kelleway JBL sits on bar stools (very stable) and Presonus sits on hevy steel stands, both are decoupled from stands using foam pads. Also both were standing at very similar distance from mic with fronts in line. I think this setup is fair enough ;)

    The Presonus lose much in terms of bass compared with Jbl for nearfileld?

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Difference in bass performance is noticable but not that big. JBL is more extended, so with bass heavy music it is better choice. With less bass heavy music the difference is not that significant and mostly noticable when compared side by side. JBL also is more detailed and effortless. Presonus on their own are very good with bass for a small speaker.

  • @kracked7637

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! From these two I recommend You JBL. They are excellent for casual music listetning with smooth, open and detailed sound and impressive bass. Presonus is also very good but caused me some ear fatigue on longer listetning session, where JBL I can listen for hours without any problems ;)

    • @kracked7637
      @kracked7637 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright thank you. Hmm, it sucks not being able to test the speakers yourself beforehand. I wish more speakers had the front power switch and volume control like the presonus.
      I don't know, currently I prefer listening on a 50€ creative 2.1 set (which obviously isn't great) over my yamaha hs-80, which just makes my ears hurt somehow. Maybe because I'm just sitting too close to 8" speakers, I didn't really think it through when I got those for my desk. maybe switching to 5" will help with that as well

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +tracked 9 Yamaha HS-80 is very fatiguing monitor. My friend used them for music production and I can confirm that they are not to speaker You choose for listening pleasure. JBL LSR305 is different kind of beast, I love how they sound, very honest but not fatiguing.

  • @premoroza
    @premoroza 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The JBL seems to have a wider stage compare to Presonus Eris 4.5. But I must say the Eris 4.5 doesn't fall to far behind. To be honest I am having trouble deciding between the two, considering the price deference between the two is massive. I base the price locally (PH) and convert it to USD for general reference; Presonus Eris 4.5 = $235 and JBL LSR305 = $420. I will hook either of the speakers on my Audioengine D1 DAC / AMP.If you are me, what will be the best choice and bang for the buck and sound quality overall?

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Paulo Angelo Remoroza Hi! Presonus is very good, but JBL is better, and for me it is worth extra money. If You get Presonus, You will be happy with what You get nonetheless. Especially, considering it is half the JBL money for around 90% of it's performance. I hope it makes some sense to You ;)

    • @premoroza
      @premoroza 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will probably getting Presonus Eris 4.5, as the price gap is very obvious and I can buy other goods items for my spare $185. Have you noticed any differences in audio quality or hum/hiss between the RCA and TRS inputs on the Eris?

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! There is no difference in audio quality between RCA and TRS if You use unbalanced output on Your source. On the other hand, there is always a difference in interferences, if You have balanced source and use balanced cables and inputs on speaker. This difference is always audible in my case in favor of TRS.

    • @Prozac3105
      @Prozac3105 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Digital Stereophony Thanks for replying! My source has balanced outputs. Due to space restraints I'm forced to place the speakers fairly close to a wall so the smaller RCA plugs would be more convenient but then again finding balanced cables with angled TRS plugs on the other end shouldn't be that hard, just a bit more expensive. :)
      One more thing: I'd prefer the powered speaker to be on the right side. Can I do this by simply connecting the left output on my source to the right input on the speaker and vice versa?

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Prozac3105 Yes, You can change sides either on source side or speakers side, it will work as You predict. Also using fully balanced connection is worth the time spent on looking for proper cables;)

    I would prefer a smaller pair of speakers like Presonus 4.5 or krk rp4 g3, so how would you recommend between these two? also would you say the presonus 4.5 or krk rp4 with a sub will be kind of comparable to the jbl because the jbl is a bit too big and also bit too expensive.. (also I won't be listening to them for excess amount of time, mainly for casual listening and movies)

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go for KRK RP4 G3 for the smoother sound signature and better looks, but if You decide to go for Presonus, than You should be happy nontheless, they are very good as well. Both are equally good with proper subwoofer and in my opinion either of them plus good sub will be excellent (but expensive) combination for casual listening. Will they beat the LSR305? That is different question, that is not that easy to answer, as RP4 or E4.5 plus sub will cost much more than LSR305 alone.

    • @wancyj
      @wancyj 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying :) How much better do you think the KRK RP4 G3 than the Presonus E4.5 since you don't have a comparison video for those two haha? (because KRK are about 40 pounds more than the Presonus) Also do you have a good suggestion for a sub which is not too expensive? I have marked the Wharfedale Diamond SW150 for the moment since they have pretty good reviews and they come in 150 pounds which I think is reasonable price (?)

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference in sound is a matter of personal taste. Some may actualy like the foreward and clear sound of Presonus more, I like warmer and smoother sound of RP4 more. I do not know the subwoofer You mentioned so I will not comment on that. I can easily recommend Presonus Temblor T8 as a compact sub that will work well with either RP4 or E4.5

      Presonus is a step back from JBL in sound quality as well as sound propagation when moved to more mid field setup. Especially bass looses it's suprising punch and depth and becomes slightly hollow. I use LSR305 in midfield (2-3m away) very often and find them very capable.

    Do u have some advice for afordable audio interface with RCA or TRS output and decent DAC (110dB SNR, 24bit/96khz at least)?
    I am considering Focusrite Scarlett Solo which is round 100 euro in Croatia though i hear its not enlightening in audio reproduction vs let say Audioengine D1 which is 90 euro more for that one :(

      Hi Zac! If You want good inexpensive interface, I can recommend Lexicon Alpha. It has balanced outputs, and in my opinion they make big difference. My friend uses Alpha with my old Prodipe Pro Ribbon 8 studio monitors, and it sounds excellent.

      Thank you for your feedback.
      I would check specs on this one :)
      I would like to go with 24bit/96-192khz rate
      and as high SNR as possible with low crosstalk.
      There are some solution it catch my eyes though i am still digging trough internet.
      I dont think balanced I/O is essential for me since it will cary signal over 50-75 cm connection so rca is enough for me.
      There are so many DACs arround.
      I would love to have Audioengine D1 though this one is expensive. Maybe SMSL Sanskrit 6th among cheaper one or Schiit Modi 2 Uber with expencier close to D1 in price.
      Other semi pro solution would be Focusrite Scarlett Solo :) but i do not attend to record or edit so i will end up with features i dont use at all.
      I have enough time to decide :)
      Cheers

      +Zox Wolf I finally arrive home though my presonus speakers arrive before me :)
      I just connect these directly to my realtec alc 1150 motherboard audio chip since i still didn't decide what dac i need to buy and sound is awesome BUT...
      I have these parasitic farting from reflex ports when it hits certain low frequencies at certain volume levels :(
      Do you still have yours? Let say when i listen "Rebeca Pidgeon-Spanish Harlem (high resolution recording)" double bass parts, it ruin my experience since air chaffing from ports is so audible :(
      Did you experience this phenomena when testing yours eris 4.5?
      Also if you feed audio signal from 40 to 100 hz chaffing is always here.
      They could acoustically decouple these aux in and phone holes coz they also develop parasitic chaffing.
      I am kinda disappointed since i was in High End audio for years and produced several reflex port high resolution speakers, so i know that this can be remedied with smart reflex port design to completely remove or at least tame down this awful air vortex chaffing trough small reflex port...
      Do you have some advice?

      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zox Wolf I'm sorry to hear that mate. After so much waiting, I'm sure You must be gutted with that. I do not have Eris any more, as they were returned after tests. But I am sure that there was no problem with port chuffing with the pair I tested. I did many tests including bass sweeps etc. on them, so I am pretty sure there was none of that. I would only suggest to return this pair and try another one :/

    • @zoxwolf2133
      @zoxwolf2133 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Digital Stereophony Eh, no need for that, fortunately :)
      I didn't check properly my system settings since this is just fresh Skylake build i do recently. It appear that SoundBlaster X-Fi3 default settings for bass boost is 38% and this almost double my cone movement producing to much air pushing from port thus farting in act of disagreeing with me :)
      I disabled all filters in X-Fi3 and all is back in normal :)
      I am relieved that chuffing disappeared in normal listening levels. These speakers are unbelievable.
      For this price range-dynamic, resolution and sound stage recreation is awesome. There is some airy feeling they add to music reproduced. They are also pretty flat in reproduction, and even on brighter side i don't find listening of any kind of music genre fatigued at all.
      Rated at 70Hz they sound lower. Acoustic instruments are reproduced faithfully and accurate enough.
      I am enjoying how string instruments sound on these. They are reproduced with some weight attached but not in negative way. it is more you feel powerful sensation while you listen.
      My Reference recording disks sound freaking awesome with sound stage recreated far left and right of the speakers itself with enough depth you can clearly "see" instrument position in depth.
      Voice of Rebecca Pidgeon in high resolution transparency test "Spanish Harlem" is so real that i torture myself with this song several times in a row :)
      Even electronic synthesized music sound powerful enough as it is coming from bigger speakers. They are somewhat sensitive on sweet spot so it is imperative to adjust tilt vertically and horizontally as suggested in manual. Mine laying in front of me on my computer desk will need some sort of angled stand/decoupler pad. So next project on my list is to design and build angled pads for Eris.
      And all of this coming from my on board audio chip Realtec ALC1150 is also unbelievable.
      I am in process to acquire Musical Fidelity V90DAC with some AudioQuest Evergreen interconects.
      I just wonder will leveling be justified enough for 300 euro more to spend on DAC.
      Cheers mate

    Hey....I have an Eris 4.5 but i feel they lack a little more punch. I was wondering if i should pair them up with a decent sub (temblor t8 or t10). But if a sub is added to the mix, then i will have to treat the room accordingly and i am not sure how effective that will be if i do it by myself. Another option is to sell my Eris 4.5 and get a JBL lsr 305 pair which naturally has a better bass response due to the larger driver. Please do suggest what i should do, Also do you think i will get a significant improvement in sound quality if i go with the 305s?? Thanks!!!

    Hey! I need some studio monitors to make my mixes. I have a home studio and i'd like to have some plain monitors to produce my music. My room is 3mts x 3mts big, so i think i won't need something too much powerfull as i will work near them.
    Would you recommend eris 4.5? I think JBL are too much for my tiny room and it would be the same. Are Eris 4.5 plain enough for music producing?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @DSAUDIOreview

      I strongly recommend NOT buying Mackie CR4 to anyone interested in accurate, natural sound. Of all three You mentioned it is the Eris E4.5 that is most accurate and least coloured. If You can strech Your budget to buy Eris than do it, if not, than Behringer is also good speaker, a bit less accurate and a bit more boxy sounding than Eris ;)

    Hi, I would like to know if I can use the speakers just on my work desk or should I get pads to lay them under the speakers. Is it worth getting pads, how does it impact the speakers? I am pretty new to speakers, since I was always a headphone guy (Eq: Schiit Stack -> E-MU Teak). Any help is appreciated!

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course You can live without them but I would definitely recommend using foam pads. They are cheap but help in few different ways. First of all they will decouple speaker vibrations from Your desk (difference is noticeable, especially in bass quality), second of all they will elevate and angle the speakers to help propagate the sound towards Your ears instead of Your chest (this will also improve the sound).

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for late answer. Only bigger speakers will get You more/better bass response. I always recommend JBL LSR305, they have very good bass response, deep and detailed, but they are a bit more expensive. You could also take a look at Edifier R2600, they also have deeper bass response at similar price to Presonus

      just curious, How it 'lacks a bit of refinement and detail' ? In what way?

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      As You already realized, midrange on Presonus is a bit forward and lacks a bit of smoothnes. Compared to JBL, Presonus is a bit "hard" in midrange with spiky sibilants. JBL avoids those issues, yet it has even more details in midrange but they do not jump at You as in Presonus.

    HI i went to hear them today JBL LSR305... they sounded so full. I just decided to buy them but store guys were telling me to get a interface such as scarlett 2i2 to hook them up, But i am confused, because i dont create music i dont need the additional things that comes with the interface. All i need a DAC but no budget dac has xrl or qrt inch output.
    can anyone tell me if i go with a stand alone DAC and use a converter to hook up Jbls will there be any performance loss for the converter or should i actually go for the interface.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buy the speakers first, enjoy them for some time and then decide if You need better source. External DAC or interface will give You a bit more performance, but You can easily wait a bit with decision. Personally I would look for something with balanced outputs

    Is it just me or is the sound stage of the Presonus far superiour to the JBL? Listening with my headphones I could clearly place where the instruments where played and with the JBL all was crowded in the middle. Just from song one. For the Presonus the drums where on the listeners left side of the stage and the guitar slight right off center. Japenese fluit (not into instruments alot... :) ) was dead center. Don't know how they could have been playing with JBL, but where they all standing behind each other..

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can not confirm that. In my experience soundstage in JBL is a bit better, more precsice with more depth. That is not to say Presonus is bad in this regard, quite the opposite, but JBL is one of the best at soundstage creation IMO. It may be that JBL's where placed to far apart from each other in this setup. I have new sound demo comparing those two that should be more fair to JBL : th-cam.com/video/jXlUD7-C5sY/w-d-xo.html

    my question is do these presonus ceres 4.5 bt sound better then the behringer 50usb i bought a pair of 5 in samson mediaone bt5 , but they are shorting out and i need to replace them. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MediaOneBT5 also the bluetooth is inconsistant. some folks complain about the loudness on the behringer 50usb with a steinberg u12 audio interface card that i have or i would assume any working card this wouldnt be an issue.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my case loudness was only an issue when I used the USB input to source the signal to 50USB. When I used the analog inputs than there was no problem. With that being said I liked the Presonus Eris E4.5 a bit more than 50USB. They sounded more natural and less coloured. Cerces should be close to Eris in sound so my recomendation goes to them.

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guitar sounds better on Presonus because of more pronounced upper midrange than JBL. It may be positive (guitars are more upfront) and negative (can be tiring to ears on longer use). Overall they both are very universal speakers working good with all music styles.
