I have this theory that we the Raven was created to destroy the A.I supercomputer. At the beginning of the game it is said that the Controller took charge of everything. That might extend to who becomes a raven. What if the Controller could not self termite and everything that happen was a test by the controller so we the raven can destroy it.
I love how Armored Core 3's story is basically Gurren Lagann. I love the tie ins. It also feels like the Controller was seeing if humanity earned the right to freedom
My that does bring back memories. And possible the ai in armored core games has always been there to protect humanity and well some do it in a good way while others kill everything.
My theory is controller was not malfunctioning but more like pushing her children out of the nest. Layers is training ground for humans to live on earth again.
Its very possible, who knows what the creator or creators of the AI had planned or knew. All that is suggested is there is more then one layered so how many of these ai's are there and how many already wiped out thier children.
I love how the ending has the controller letting us go outside when clearly in many missions and even the intro of the game shows us outside. Like if the game realistically is taken play underground how is it that humanity has made so much space that we have clouds and lights and stuff to make look like daylight.
You know armored core 1 did have an answer to that very thing. I'll have to dig out the translation however they basically projected the sky above them and even managed to make it look like time went on with afternoon and even night skies.
Good job on fixing the audio levels! There's still some areas where your voice is peaking, but it doesn't detract from these very helpful lore videos. Thanks again for doing these!
Thank you for your kind words. Yes i did go a little too loud on some part with this rerecord so I'll have to find the middle ground again. Audio has always been my greatest foe.
@Armoredcorelore audio is one of the hardest things to get right, and sadly, it's the most important part of a video. I've spent a good 100+ hours researching audio to make it sound as perfect as i could. What microphone do you have and what's the software it uses for voice effects like noise gate, compressor, etc (if any). Also what software do you use to record your voice overs? It's always a good idea to have your gain low (maybe -12db or lower) and raise it in editing. That way there's no way you will peak the audio and ruin it beyond repair.
20:02 Calling this a "hellish fight" feels like a serious understatement considering how many times I got pummeled by its missile swarms... (Fighting it doesn't feel like Armored Core, it feels like a bullet hell!)
Massive mt is quite the bugger of a mission. I won't lie even i still dread having to fight this as i know it can really knock you about with the missiles.
Fucking understatement of the history ,I learned after one failure that I needed to end that mf _quickly_ ,so I hopped im my Guntank, replaced the MG arms for Cannon arms and just sniped away
Thank you very much, it nice to hear this sort of feedback. I always worry if i put to much gameplay in or not enough. Or the same idea with maybe too many pictures.
This video was great but i feel like you didn't talk about how dehumanizing the whole game is (which i love it is very immersive) the raven doesn't see a single human face in all of the game, and one great example is the mission where you escort a truck with an alloy sample. Because, the truck driver is actually friendly to the raven right at the beginning of the mission, the most anybody is throughout the whole game, and yet, if he dies, the game doesn't make you repeat the mission, it tells you to rip the alloy out of the truck and deliver it like nothing happend, it is my favourite moment of the whole game and i never hear anybody talk about it sadly.
To be honest most ac games you don't see a human face. Its messages, radio calls and other armored cores. But I do what your getting at and while ac3 does do this well with its missions and story Armored core has done this in a lot of ways. Some examples are the very first game did this with the workers who where gunned down for disagreeing with the corporations and the raven was basically told they are obstacles in the way of further expansion and we have no interest in talking to them. Which to be fair 3 is basically a reboot of ac1 so things do seem the same. And AC4FA even had a cut scene which said that arms-forts where filled with expendable soldiers.
Ah good old AC 3, aka AC 1 Directors Cut. (or remix?) Really fascinating to consider the question of just how much Crest covered up, how long did they know the Controller was breaking down?
I hated fanfare and huntress mission, the time of going back and forth to replay it. But it seems a lot of people started in AC3 so I'm glad i covered.
I think 3 has the best vibes in any ac game. It feels like you’re in a living city full of people and ravens going about their business. The arena has Ravens who exclusively do that and get famous for their performances. You have some that only for corporations. You would get penalized for destroying civilian property. There were even mercenaries who would upgrade their MTs and become Ravens. I don’t think any other AC game has captured that sense of being a living world like that. AC 6 is fun but it feels like the only people living on Rubicon are combatants. AC1 tries that vibe and succeeds somewhat but doesn’t really work because i think the writers didn’t have the experience.
Its a fair take, honestly i think all the game have thier own vibes. As you say ac1 was really the testing bed, it was a first go at creating an ac world, simple story but it worked. Another age really hit that feeling of this is the life of an ac pilot and i would say three certainly improved on all of it with its lore and what a player could read about and experience.
I can believe I ran through all these games in my youth, recalling all these b-rolls you used to illustrate your points. My question is, when we fought that giant MT from the controller with the missiles, generates, and lasers, where exactly was that place because it looks like we were on the surface some where?_?
Good question and to answer that all i can say is the battle happened in layard as it had a lot of different areas like the jungle area we see Union hide in thanks to the environmental control system in place. In game both massive mts are based in the nature area which suggests there is an area is layard that reflects the world many environments.
@@armoredcorelore I can definitely see that, especially when there was reports of the environmental hazards that were happening around layered. Another point that would have been great way to tell this story would have been more commentary from the operator and more rebellion Raven pilots that goes along with the player that investigates the actions of the Controller. I learned that companionship within telling a story helps illustrate points more vividly. But FromSoft's like to play hero ball in terms of their storytelling.
Interesting how i missed all the lores since 2 - 4answer because I was just too busy doing R&D. Like ok generator intended for bbw robot on my tiny robot gives.....meeeee.....kenshin himura boost. Lets gooo. Then nexts come out annnnd everybody is kenshin. Lol but anyway thanks for doing this.
No problem and oh yes diving into the R&D of AC is quite the hole, the numbers and the testing each part till that mech dances across the sky or can meet that requirement you like as a pilot. Its fun, but as you say keeps you busy.
Honestly i am confused on why huntress & fanfare even try to betray/kill me. first, huntress should have known on how it is near impossible for her to kill me after many mission together and fanfare, i already killed you thrice in arena, one for rank and twice for boredom
Who knows maybe the two of them thought together they could take down a raven who does not seem to die. Was their belief in the controller so strong they would face death for it? Maybe.
fair points and reasoning. it just feels a bit cartoonish to fight these two and to make it worse i even brought small MT that i thought "sure, why i won't bring these guy with me? at least i can share my reward" and then the mission turn from defeating these two to protect the MT you brought from these two lunatics out of guilt
The underground city is huge, people have lived and worked for years and being a raven or mercenary for hire is simply another job in this time which the controller allows to keep peace and achieve its own goals.
It is sort of, we have some changes in corporations, the ravens as well as the ai having a name now. Along with it being different to the original as it does go haywire instead of just being an object in the way to a raven idea of freedom.
@@armoredcorelorethe secret is having it low thT you have to really try to hear it but its still there so it fills the silence without people even realizing thats ehat it is. For armored core, i would suggest some Metrpid Prime sound tracks. If you want a nice idea on how to use em look up Fatbretts video on Iguazu, the corporations of Armored Core 6 or his video about walter. Either of those he uses music masterdully in the backround without taking up any foreground processing in peoples minds so to say.
@@armoredcorelorethe secret is making it low enough to have to try and hear, but enough to cover up the silences.a good example you should really check out, is FatBrett. He uses music perfectly in his videos, check out any of his armored core 6 videos, and you will hear what I'm talking about about. He also utilizes sound tracks from basically, masterpiece sound tracks like Metroid prime ost, horizon, stuff made by soule and daifuki. Some of the real high tier stuff tbh.
I get that and to answer with ac3 we enter a new time-line (The second timeline) so its it own thing with no connections to the previous titles. @Armoredcorelore okay cool, I grew up playing 3 and Silent Line and after watching your other videos of 1 and 2 I wasn't sure. Cool to see so much lore in this series, must be a fromsoft thing.
Mirage and Crest: Fighting over money
Kisaragi: *Giant enemy spider*
I laughed and i don't know why.
The true enemy
I'm being reminded of that one meme joke.
"Giant enemy crab... thing." And "attack its weak point for massive damage"
Also the lack of bio-sensor radar is worst if you fight these arachnid abominations

I like it and yeah if the Ai was thinking ahead for humanity maybe it did create its own end. Cool.

3 was my first AC game. So glad to see it covered here.
And with better audio too. My first attempt at this was a burning mess.
Why did I smile so much in crest "no that didn't happen" quote?
Because you know what these corporations are like.

That's very kind of you to say and well there is no point in hiding faults. I made a mistake and i should be big enough to admit it.

Worth another watch? Absolutely!!

That is the question and the cost as well as we never get numbers about the citizens that died due to this failure.
The first Armored Core game I've played, only complaint I had was how easy the last mission was. But other than that, still a blast to play.
