The beauty of these lore videos is that for those of us who played this as kids, across the whole series . . . you never really GOT IT that something was actually happening meta wise within the lore of the game. Those missions weren't just choices to make money, it was a genius roulette telling a story.
Sigh... I’m too tired to sleep, so im going back through and rewatching all of the story summaries. This one in particular is a major nostalgia trip. While I’ve technically played every numbered AC title, AC2 was the first one that I actually really got into. I remember spending so many weekends over at my friend Dylan’s house, working our way through the arena matches and story missions, trying to figure out what the heck was going on in the narrative (we were like...11-12 years old). I also remember I had this incredible figure of the cover AC that I got in Japantown in San Francisco. In fact, while my love for mecha technically started with Gundam Wing airing on Cartoon Network when I was 9/10, playing AC2 really cemented it (and then getting into Zone of the Enders ensured that it would probably last until I die lol). Anyways, another excellent synopsis, as always! Also, thanks again for yesterday, I had a blast throwing down with you!
Nice i like hearing people history with ac. I think everyone has that one ac game like yours with ac2 (Which as people know was my first ac game and what made me quit and then come back to the series) that make you go, this, this is what i like. 2nd generation is my personal favorite. I really appreciate your channel helping others to understand the lore. I did understand the story pretty well on my own, but there was some details I never got. This is a very well done video, now the next time I go and replay it I know exactly what I'm partaking in.
Well done. While later games will explain their stories better, I think Armored Core 2 had the best plot/setting overall, which From squandered with Another Age and dumped altogether to move on to 3 and onwards. While 3 and Silent Line are solid titles and the best mechanically to me, it's still disappointing how AC2 was done dirty. 14:36 - They say the Frighteners are taking out Ravens, but unless there are a bunch of unregistered Ravens for them to eliminate, this doesn't show mechanically in-game, save for poor Castor from earlier. To be fair though, they probably hadn't figured out the means to do this until, well, Last Raven. Save for two Ravens in the game that I can think of, maybe another one, all others killed in missions are slain by the player. 19:25 - There is an alternative interpretation I considered : That this trap was set up by the Zio Matrix Mars Division. This is hinted by the one line spoken by one of the attacking ACs : "You know too much, we don't need you no more." It could refer to LCC as well, but the Zio Matrix Mars Division is already noted as being up to shady business, and the mail you get about their deteriorating relationship with the Earth branch is right before this mission. It would also explain why the Raven takes no more missions from them. Also, given how FromSoft like to reuse certain plot elements, it would be a spiritual precursor to a certain betrayal that happens in 3. 28:34 - The antagonist's motivation not being explained is perhaps the weakest part of the plot overall. Was he trying to cause another Great Destruction? Was he trying to become the new R via Phobos somehow? Maybe From wanted to keep it a mystery, or maybe they weren't sure themselves. It also seemed odd how we beat him on the STAI, and yet he somehow gets to Phobos anyway (past all those Disorder defenses with Remille, no less.)
Thank you and yes there is some rather sticking points in the story with raven having to registered it does make it odd that they say a lot are being taken out however the only ones that do go are the one the raven takes outs. And yes it could have been Zio again some story elements are very open to a lot of people being able to do this at the same time so it is very possible this trap was the zio mars branch or the LCC. As for Leons great escape i think we have to give that a little it needed to happen to keep the story, however again it is possible Leon escaped on foot during the battle and left a simple AI in charge of his ac. But never made clear in game.
Funny, I got this game as soon as I bought a PS2 in my younger years (I was stationed in New Orleans). I do admit I was no good at this game at the time. It was only when I beat AC3 and Silent Line, I went back to AC2 and finally beat it. Once again thanks for the Nostalgia trip.
I just recently learned you can get Human + in this game. So I played it again last night just to try it out. Got to the top 3 in the arena but, old man wrist won't let me play long.
25:42 If its debatable on whether Klein was the protag of MoA, then would this imply they at least knew each other at some point and that Klein became the "original NineBreaker" by defeating the MoA Raven? Or perhaps, he could be refering to his younger self before coming to believe that the Hustler One AI may have been right?
All possible. All We know is his human plus has managed to keep a 90 year old man looking in his forties thanks to the armored core navigation guide and its from his title as nine breaker, his age and some of the words he speaks that suggests he was the raven of MOA. Yet as noted the words Kleivn shares are from the Ai of armored core one not the ai of master of arena.

I really hope from soft either releases collections before the launch of 6 or after…. I think it would be insanely cool if you could get your hands on parts by importing data from the old games…. That would be a sick call back, even if it was just like some special parts for having a save file in prior games.
As said before the video got reupload, I’m very happy with how well you presented this entry of the series. It’s my favourite game of the franchise and I know everything about it from top to bottom. I really appreciate the time you took the explain the startup of the main corporations, the move to Mars, how the main character fits into the narrative and all the other essential elements in the game. About the missions that allegedly don't pay you, apparently they pay you in "advance" which you get the money once you launch it and that's why it makes you think they didn't give you money. YOu may need to check the credits on a before-mission and after-mission to see the current credits difference. I noticed that some missions have "advance" in the pay (the ones that look like they didn't pay you) and got some more money, just try it on the last mission on silent line, launch the last mission then abort then your money will go up.
Interesting I’d have infinite stratos crossover infinite stratos are powered exoskeletons with advanced combat capabilities and they were originally meant for outer space expedition and they can only be used by females
Think it would be cool if there was a crossover with Zone of Enders. They got similar vibes in regards to the conflict with Earth and the extraterrestrial colonies, as well as similar grunt mechs.... Whereas the the existence of ZOE's Metatron and Orbital Frames could potentially get linked to the super advanced ancient civilizations that were only hinted at in AC2.
I just wanted to say thank you for the work you've done and the videos you've made. I've enjoyed being able to refresh myself with the lore of one of my favorite franchises and you have also inspired me to do something similar with gundam with mech analysis, lore, and pilot info. Mars Balena are the true goat undersogs on the story. They were sent without proper support and managed to endure the fight till the end, even when their Earth branch abandoned them for good.
There are a few i know of, however i am sure others will be able to expand on it. There is an manga called Fort Tower Song and two novels Master of area and fake illusions. Then there are information books like Armored Core 10 Works Complete File, Armored Core Design 4 for Answer, Armored Core Official Data Book, Armored Core V the FACT, Armored Core VD the AFTER and there is a book which is written in an in-universe style, framed as though fictional freelance journalist Friedman Ray is writing a new book about the history and state of the world by the time of Chapter 4 of Armored Core: For Answer. While not my first AC game. It's the first one I beat. I wish there was more missions from LCC, as I wanted to side with them when I was younger. Maybe something similar to what you can do in the newer AC games.
Such an idea was suggested about eight months ago however in a more fan lore style of video like i give to ravens and lynxs from the ac series. However after putting it out to everyone it was felt that videos like these should wait until i have covered all the major lore of the Armored core series.

I don't know myself to be honest. Maybe its to do with what people can get buy or what is being suggested as thier first game. Still wherever one starts i like to think it will make new ac players want to look back to where it all started even if they don't play the older gens.

Awesome I’ll keep that idea in mind
Just keep the ideas coming
I just wanted to say thank you for the work you've done and the videos you've made. I've enjoyed being able to refresh myself with the lore of one of my favorite franchises and you have also inspired me to do something similar with gundam with mech analysis, lore, and pilot info. Keep up the amazing work with your beautiful voice.
Thank you for the very kind words. I wish you luck on your own lore project and be sure to let me know as i would not mind seeing what you create.
Some of those mission recaps aren't quite the same without that guy rolling his Rs like a champ. XD
I could never be the og r roller VA.
Mars Balena are the true goat undersogs on the story. They were sent without proper support and managed to endure the fight till the end, even when their Earth branch abandoned them for good.
Are there any books based on Armored Core lore?
Its called a new order for nexts.
@@armoredcorelore danggg they all sound good like the in-universe style one - thanks man!
@@ginogarcia8730 No problem, have a good read =)
Thank you for the re-upload I could not hear that shit and om tryna learn the story for AC6
Your welcome.
Your content is excellent. Thanks for explaining the game that really hooked me. I’ll always model my ACs after Annihilator / Leos
Thank you for you kind words and well Annihilator is a pretty sick AC. Its not a bad ac to model one's acs after.
Out of all the Armor Core games which one is your favorite?
Formula Front, its just something different from the normal ac game and well i do like to see what i can make the ai do.
Armored core lore, i always love thay openeing lol. Thanks for making these man! I grew up playing them on ps1 and ps2, and now im into ac6, and im the kinda guy thay likes to get into the lore of stuff and learn everything. So, for real, man, thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and let me thank you back for giving my videos a chance. I know that feeling, hunting lore and learning all the little tidbits and translations is what lead me down this rabbit hole of ac lore. But im glad I did, its fun and I have meet lots of neat people.
yay. ya did it.... summary videos
Opinion noted.
@@armoredcorelore haha yeah i mean im thankful, i'm not sure but I commented a couple months ago I think to ask you to make summary videos. I think ya did it. Thanks man, it's great work
@@ginogarcia8730 ha ha i kid I'm glad to hear you enjoy them or if you don't as i think its the only way to tune the videos. But still thank you honestly it has been a wild year and a bit now so i hope i did as honestly i have a page of videos to go back too after I'm done with all the major lore bits of AC.
Wait... Failed Ravens get executed?! I was under the impression that they were left to die.
Nope i thought people simply went back to being citizens until i heard the line. It seems concord is quite happy to kill new recruits if they are not up to the skill level they expect. Scary! That or they simply let the foes kill them.
@@armoredcorelore I thought the latter.
Still waiting for that Moonlight video lol
I'm still making it =)
@@armoredcorelore 👍
When is the year ED190? How far in the future is it? Great videos. I'm going through them all to understand AC6 better.
Thank you for the kin words and it is quite far as we started this timeline of ac (ac1 till acaa) at the year ed0070 when earth governments were having trouble with overpopulation so started to build underground cities.
@@armoredcorelore what year is that in the years we use? Like now is 2024, what year is it in the AC universe?
I'm excited for when you cover generation 3.
I'm getting there i just want to make sure I've covered subjects like corporation like i did with AC4.
@@armoredcorelore oh yeah of course.
So we doing another age next?
Not yet =) I am going to cover some of the corporations and some key figures from the game then move on.
The title of Raven very much feels synonamous to the pivotol Gundam frames, but in more of a grimdark sence
True both do seem to change the world.
i felt that "leaving combat area"
It happened far to many times then I'd like to admit.
On my way to learn Armored Core history!
Have fun!
When are you gonna do the story of armored core 2 another age
After the next video on Emeraude.
Reupload? Surly you mean mission replayed?
With the sound turned up.
All this diving into armored core lore has had the side effect of making iron blooded orphans not suck. If you replace all the Gundam terms with ac terms in your head it makes sense lol
I mean playing through the story of the iron bloods in sd gundam cross-rays, it didn't seem that bad.
I love your videos man can wait for ac6
Thank you very much and me too.
happy new year ACL!
Happy new year Sabbath! Hope all is well with you.
While not my first AC game. It's the first one I beat. I wish there was more missions from LCC, as I wanted to side with them when I was younger. Maybe something similar to what you can do in the newer AC games.
It certain would be have been quite the story to look into if the LCC had won and turned mars into the old ways of the underground cities.
Everyone has a their own AC design. How about you make a video where your viewers comment their AC design and you review them?
Such an idea was suggested about eight months ago however in a more fan lore style of video like i give to ravens and lynxs from the ac series. However after putting it out to everyone it was felt that videos like these should wait until i have covered all the major lore of the Armored core series.
Armored Core 2 was the first game I played in the series. ❤
Nice =) Seems this is where a lot of ravens started thier journey.
It would have been cool if the protagonist from Mia used the Earl grey
It would, but i think that is what made the books special in thier own way.

I'm sorry
Whut?
😳😮🪦
Yes that is what phobos is, ofcouse at this point we have not yet seen it in game but that is what the battleship is being used to get too.
Of all the Franchises to pull a Star Wars.
I really didn't see it coming.
Man I love FromSoftware
@@shepardren8006 Ha ha that's from for ya.
You might be tired at this point but.
I've made an entire playlist of nothing but AC lore from you and Vaati.
My first intro was AC: V Verdict Day.
I love Mechs.
And I love Dystopian worlds.
Sadly when I first played it I didn't really understand the mechanics and such.
And years later I went back and things just...clicked.
I haven't had the chance to get into AC: 6 but I seriously can't wait 🫠
@@shepardren8006 Ah well that is very nice to hear. Honestly I am glad to hear people are enjoying the lore we both bring to people. We both have different styles and I think lore should be explored in different way as if everyone did the same thing it be rather boring. Also I hope you enjoy ac6 when you do get the chance. I think you'll enjoy what I has to offer.
Leos Klein kinda sounds like... Snail is that you???
Ha ha no don't open that wormhole.
Important areas of importance. Some serious shit
Ah sometimes words fail me.
@@armoredcorelore haha once again just messing around gave me a good laugh I approve! Great video 😇
These are fun, but 4:26 makes me laugh.
Honestly sometimes even i amaze myself. Important area of importance yep good script writing there ACL.
Nostalgic
Yep where it all began for me.
Just here to feed the algorithm.
Thank you, i apprentice it.
no subtitules in spa?
There should be. I'm looking at the list now and its listed as having Spanish subtitles. Ahh youtube what are you playing at?! I will look into it.
2:48
Florida moves to mars
woohoo
Yay fixing audio.
So this is basically the story of ARM China 😂
I have no idea who or why i am killing people in these games, i just like to make things go boom with my mech. Then i watch ur video to figure out why i killed so many 🗿
I mean making things go boom with a mech is fun.
@@armoredcorelore howitzer 🤡
ac2 was the last game to have a good sawa and moonlight blade.
After ac2aa they went to crap
I don't get why many getting into AC now are skipping this one. They start with 3 and go up, where I think neglected 2 is a sad mistake.
I don't know myself to be honest. Maybe its to do with what people can get buy or what is being suggested as thier first game. Still wherever one starts i like to think it will make new ac players want to look back to where it all started even if they don't play the older gens.
@@armoredcorelore True, but I think seeing these vids will make them want to get their hands on it lol! I can understand wanting to get ones hands on a physical copy and a PS2 if they don't have one, if that's the issue.
@@armoredcorelore I think it's to do with the modern control schemes with 3 and up. I remember many AC channels and discords recommending 3 and up for that reason. Although 1-4 are perfectly playable even through *ahem* certain means, 3 is where the movement and actual maneuvering of your AC starts to shine, especially for newer players (like myself)
