Chuck your art is so real and detailed that I catch myself forgetting to slow down and look very closely at every inch of it. I have to tell myself this is Chuck Blacks work!! Not your everyday artist.. You don't just see water and rocks along the edge ! There are rainbow and brown trout swimming in this water somewhere, so look for them.. you don't just see the rocks on the edge of a stream! You see stones of all shapes colors and sizes, that make up the total visual environment. you see grasses flowing in the streams . You see dragonflies on beautiful flowers next to the stream . You might see a frog perched on a rock taking it all in. Chuck you have a beautiful gift of not only giving us a breathtaking view of lights and color , but you definitely capture and share a visual feeling in your art that not many can do these days. To only be able to look at something, and still feel the temperature of the air, to here the crickets and frogs before a rain. To smell the fragrance of nature thru viewing a piece of art is amazing my friend. Then to top it all! you explain the whole process to fill in any unanswered questions about this individual piece.. lol That's the icing on the cake when it's all said and done.. I feel as though I saw the moose walk out as we sat by the fire. We saw the trout jump up and grab the bug off the flower hanging close to the surface. I could hear the elk calls across the valley . I was their that day at that moment in time . That is a truly rare gift Chuck.. I'm quite sure there are thousands out there that would totally agree with me on how they feel as well when sitting and looking deep into these beautiful works of art. They are so real !! You will swear you saw something move in the trees or bushes after staring at it for a while.. That's great art right there Well done. artists who spend a lot of time hiking in nature can paint what it feels like to be there. I also see a lot of people who spend so much time indoors that they can only make symbols of natural objects while the hiker-artist can paint what it feels like to be apart of nature. Because nature is messy and precise, it has colors in it that you can only see when standing there, and those colors leave an impression in your mind. Then as you paint, your mind says, no a little more like this until you have created that feeling of a natural space. I see that going on here!
As I watched You bring this area & painting to life, I am still in awe of these, Our back country &- how You take People there to value these wilderness areas. This is also my Home country & I always enjoyed it. It gives You the knowledge that GOD is there because no human could create such beauty! When I look at this painting, I can smell what that place would smell like. To me, that s a mixture of "Sweater Weather" And "Leaves/Acorn Lane" from Bath & Body Works. A fresh, crisp, clean air. Hints of pine carried on a fresh, untouched breeze. Spice that you're not sure where it's coming from, mingling with the leaves and needles on the ground crunching under your feet. The sweetness of flowers and the surrounding flora. Absolutely peaceful and clean.

Oh, man....incredible, so lifelike....I so want to be able to paint like this! All my life I've wanted to attempt oil painting, it's been on my "Bucket List", and now that I'm retired, I motivated myself in June of this year (2021) to buy a French Easel, lots of 200ml tubes of oils, mixing mediums, gesso's, varnishes, odorless mineral spirits, brushes, palette knives and canvasses of different sizes and finally get stuck in! So far, I've produced two landscape paintings, my first on a 12" x 16" canvas board and the second on a 16" x 20" Gallery style stretched canvas. Although far away from your standard and quality, I have to say, that I'm really enjoying this hobby, so cathartic and relaxing, and family and friends were impressed by this hidden "talent" they didn't know "I had". Thanks for your awe inspiring and motivational videos, greatly appreciated! I can't wait to begin my third painting! Cheers, Martin.

I'm going for a degree in Environmental Field Biology because I love being outdoors and want to learn more about the natural world. Painting has become another way to really get to know animals, flowers, and ecosystems for me. And it helps me to share that knowledge with others. I cannot express how much I love your paintings. I've always liked to draw since I was very young. I tried oil painting by the age of 13. It was not a cheap hobby, so I couldn't keep up with it. I now regret it not trying harder. With all that has happened last year due to the lockdowns, I am unable to afford going back to painting for now, but I practice daily using other mediums as I intend to make it up for the time I have lost. Listening to you talking has gotten me into thinking about life, something artists probably always do, and my eyes watered. Landscapes are my favorite themes.
You better pack a big bag if your planning on visiting that spot my friend. It only exists in one place in the universe. That's in chucks mind!! He explained that this piece of art was put together from many things he saw on his multiple day journey through this area. It wasn't just one place he saw. That's why I call him the magician. He can go recall this beauty from his heart feelings and visions in his mind. Very gifted individual.. 😎✌️

I have painted for 60 years, but recent times it has seemed pointless because you can never replicate real nature. But your enthusiasm has made me consider that it is still worthwhile trying.
My favorite part about watching these videos is when the image transforms in front of your eyes! It happened to me when he was painting the stream bed with the rocks and fish. I was wondering, "Why is he painting those shapes on the surface? Shouldn't it look more like ripples?" Then I realized it was supposed to look transparent, and my jaw literally dropped; I clicked the like button.
Honestly you are the best traditional painter I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them. That is the kind of art I would gladly spend my money on to buy it. Keep up this amazing work!
