    Plot twist the case that was stolen was empty. I think there’s about five different theories this could go. Lots of people find it very hard to believe someone would just ignore $2 million sitting in a pelican case unattended.

    The fact that these guys are even there with 1.5M in cards, unguarded with no security is going to be a bigger problem for the community. The casual handling of this amount of value is a problem and this is likely just the tip of the iceberg.

    I think grading companies should start flagging all slab certification numbers that have been reported stolen. The original owner of the slab would have to show proof of theft to the grading company by getting a copy of the police report for them to review, but something in this manner has to be done in order to maintain integrity.

    • @TheRealBuddah
      @TheRealBuddah หลายเดือนก่อน

      But then the new scam would be selling slabs then reporting the cert to get it back. Also, not for nothing but grading companies don't lose money or any business when their slabs are stolen from private owners. They're not going to get involved in that headache. Especially not the big ones

There was a coin show where some people pretended to be working for the show and just uppin walked out of the show with a dealers entire glass case. Never leave your booth unattended. Have cameras. The staff/owner should have known better as I know for a fact he/she has had theft durring setup and break-down. Base on size of booth and inventory they have been doing shows for years. Often theft is from personal staff, exhibit hall staff, or even other exhibitors. I have caught other exhibitors, staff, and facility staff steal my inventory through the yeas (25 years in the business). I once had exhibitor hall staff try to steal a whole pallet of my inventory during set up. Forklift driver staff happen to find my pallet when I requested to file police report immediately. Within 30 minutes the 1 pallet came back in two pallets!!!??? Experience should have taught them better. I am an exhibitor and sell high end products. Though I don't carry any one thing over $40K in my booth I am very strict on where I keep my inventory. This type theft is the exact reason why I do my best to contain highend inventory. Breakdown and setup is the most opportune time for theft. I once had some thief make off with a couple of statues inside one of my display case during shut-down. Eversince, I pack up my top tier items immediately and have it in an area where it is in sight and blocked off. Greed and opportunity comes with the territory of high end collectibles; I would be auditing staff also in this situation.

    Check the pop counts. Many of those say under $1k are probably resellable in a crack and re grade situation. If a card is say $550 people years down the road aren’t gonna care if that card is sitting in a newer slab. Just my opinion
