I have not been able to sing "Into The West" since 2011, when I used it on a memorial site for a loved one. My throat just closes up completely. But I love to listen to others sing it, and this is my favorite cover now.
Three weeks ago my grandmother close her eyes for the last time. She was the one who introduced me Tolkien's stories. First The Hobbit and later The Lord of the Rings. She's still in my heart, and she will remain there for the rest of my life, but Into the West brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Peter, for reminding me of her. Edit: Thank you all for your messages. It helps me through my process. My grandmother really was a fantastic person. She was open and kind to all she met, and when politicians and the news preached suspicion and hate towards strangers, she instead opened her home and helped people in need. She was 94 when she passed and she was sick with cancer. She refused treatment, because in her mind she had lived her life to the fullest and treatment would just sour the time she had left. She passed surrounded by her sons and grandchildren, and while I'm mourning the loss a part of me is happy she found peace. I'm working through my grief with professional assistance, but it warms my heart that total strangers are asking about my wellbeing; Thank you.
I'm so sorry for your loss. 💔 Your grandmother sounds like she was an amazing person. Honored that the music could bring back those special Tolkien memories for you. 🧙♂️📚

I played Into The West shortly after my chosen mom passed away a couple weeks ago, and I know she's not suffering anymore but this song reminds me of her warm hugs, her kind smile, and how she always had some Uncle Iroh-esque advice no matter what. Mr. Hollens, I have to share something. I had a cat, her name was Svetlana. She simply adored your voice. Even if she was sleeping, if I played one of your videos, she would jump on the table, setlle into my arms and listen intently. She would stay there as long as you were singing, no matter how long that was. Song of the Lonely Mountain was her favorite. Cats have VERY sensitive hearing, so that is a HUGE compliment. Your singing is a force of nature. She died from cardiac arrest, so suddenly, so young, left me, my husband and the other cats deeply grieving. Now, when I hear you sing, my heart feels her warm body in my arms again. Thank you.

Aww, I feel you! And ooh, that cover idea is fire! 🔥 Might have to add it to my to-do list! 😉
I have officially reentered my LOTR phase and I adore this compilation
awwww such a good age.... I WANT MORE NEW LOTR MUSIC TO DO!!!!
I may have joined in when I got to Into the West. Unfortunately I started crying so hard that it was hard to keep singing.
Never knew i need a mashup for it all!! 👑⭐
May it be missing 😭
Proof Peter hasn’t aged in 10 years.
Keep going strong with your music friend!
Into The West always hit me so hard ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰
Well, this is the only playlist I'll ever need, and it's all in one video!
The transitions are perfect
My favorite singer and my favorite stories/songs! Does life get any better. Love this new mashup. Much love
Thanks for the love, my friend! 💖🧙♂️
I forgot Into the West existed until I heard you sing the first few lines.
I remember hearing this song at the end of the movie and crying from so many emotions, and the song stuck with me.
My parents didn't like buying movies, as they didn't see the point in watching them again, but when I asked they bought the soundtrack for me.
I would sing the lyrics the best I could, and cried every time. I started singing along as soon as I recognized the song, and was crying again by the end.
Thank you for reminding me of these feelings through your rendition.
Dude, your story hit me right in the feels! 😭 So cool that the soundtrack became your personal treasure. Music really has that magic, doesn't it? ✨
You must been elf in Lord of Rings realm. Peter you got absolutely haunting and beautiful voice for this music.❤❤❤❤
🎉❤🎉😊Sooooo enjoy Your Music 🎶 THANK YOU 🙏
Hey Peter. I love the extended version of your LOTR songs. Your voice somehow makes it more magical than the originals. It is a great walk down memory lane. No, I can’t believe how long ago since the first debut (not sure I want to think if it, lol 😮)
Aww, thanks for the magical vibes! ✨ And yeah, time flies when you're having fun in Middle-earth! 😅🧙♂️
WOW!! YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT!!! THANK YOU!!❤🔥
Amazing collection. You have a fantastic voice, Peter!
You're too kind! 😊 Just doing my best to channel some Middle-earth magic! 🧙♂️✨
This was absolutely thrilling to hear. Please consider singing Tom Bombadill’s song!!
Thank you! Tom Bombadil's tune would be so fun to tackle. I'll add it to my list of potential future projects! 🎵🧙♂️
