Greenbelt, MAKATI has always been my favorite place, since I was a child. High-class, cleanest, and greenest, it is truly a world-class shopping and dining paradise.
I think the BGC SkyTrain project will finally push through which will connect BGC to Makati. Regarding the heat, this summer was hotter than usual because of the heatwave that most of Asia is experiencing. It was actually worse in Thailand were 61 people have died because of the excessive heat.
That's why it's nice to live in condos where it can be freezing cold depending on one's setting, and it doesn't break the bank. Electricity is very expensive in Pinas.
Makati has character, for everyone, for every walks of life. The greens and parks contribute the fresh air especially on a hot day. Walking the streets of Makati is not boring and prepare to be entertained. Its less pretentious. Makati is home to the rich exclusive communities of Forbes park, Bel air, San Lorenzo. And home to some embassies.. Btw, nice reasonable haircut! Makati is my favorite.
Born and raised in Makati. It's always so nostalgic seeing vlogs of my hometown. Went to Don Bosco Makati and I remember taking a cab to Greenbelt and I'd meet with my mom at Deli France or meet her at her office at the Enterprise building. We used to live in San Lorenzo village and would go to church at Don Bosco church. So much changes in Makati since the 90s and early 2000s. I couldn't even recognize a lot of the buildings! We used to spend a lot of time playing as kids at Greenbelt park, Salcedo, Magallanes park, and there used to be an A&W near Greenbelt. I also spent a lot of time whenever I visit my cousin who used to live in Rockwell, at the Powerplant mall. VASTLY different now lol Between BGC and Makati, I'm gonna be biased and pick Makati. BGC lacks the character, culture, and the neighbourhood/homey feel of Makati. It's nice, but a little too sterile and bland for my likeness. Maybe we can give BGC a decade to develop their own identity and character, but it's a little to "clean" and bland currently lol
Dany, you mentioned you're not privy to Bel Air Village, Makati City. It is an ultra-exclusive and private village in Makati CBD, home to the privileged few. It is a sought-after residential location in Makati. The village speaks of class and status.
Very long before there was BGC (and I would say even the Ortigas business district), Makati was, has been, is and will continue to be the premiere city in the Philippines, full stop! All the old rich Filipinos and expats live in the high end Makati subdivisions including North & South Forbes, Dsmarinas, Urdaneta, San Lorenzo, Bel-Air and Magallanes, while BGC can only boast of low to high end condos (I don't know of any single family home, i.e. house with lot) in BGC. I'm glad that you sensed the livability of Makati City over the artificiality of the town of BGC in the city of Taguig. Proud to be a Florida USA-based, Greenbelt condo owner, Makatizen!!
BICOL (Bee Call) refers to the region on the far end of Luzon Island south of Metro Manila. Bicol Region (Region 5) conposed of 5 provinces - Camarines Norte,, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes. The region is famous for the spicy Bicol Express, Laing (Taro Leaves in Coconut Milk), Pili Nut, Abaca (Manila Hemp), Mayon Volcano, etc.
You got it -😊👏 Hands down Makati City is the best for city living in Metro Manila with museums, great hotels, bars, movie theater, cafes, fancy shopping malls and weekend markets in Legaspi and Salcedo village, safe to walk around and oh it's near the airport too!😁
Thank you Tomas! Yes, this is NOT Manila. It's Makati. All these "Manila" videos so cringe. They are not in Manila at all. Yes, they're both in NCR (formerly, "Metro Manila") but manila and makati are cities by themselves. This video is not in Manila. It's my beloved city, Makati !

Yes, I remember Harry Jaggard getting offered the blue pill, lol. Funny that they would offer it to a man in his 20s. There was also a guy trying to sell him a "rare" coin, then later on offered something else - or should i say, someone else. Definitely the seedy part of Makati. Anyway, on your return, explore the ultra posh Rockwell Center if you haven't yet, esp. at night when the buildings are lit up. Looks very futuristic.
BGC has more options for the sporty and active people and it's more beautiful and modern. Makati is now copying BGC with its new improvements. But the future most modern districts and truly over the top would be the upcoming Bay Reclamation but unfortunately Marcos is giving them a hard time building it, especially the Manila Horizon project which already received international accolade for its brilliant design. 😊
Ayala center is the first business district outside of the old Manila followed by Ortigas and Greenhills. But my favorite out of the 16 business districts in NCR or M.Manila is Alabang. I hope you can visit that one.
Thank you so much, kabayan, for helping promote correct PHL geography! It makes me happy seeing more and more comments asserting the proper city location of the various travel vlogs here in TH-cam. Sorry about that. It seems I wasn't aware of the project's status due to being out of the country. Unfortunately, political issues continue to hamper the country's development. I heard that few of the top brands hotels like Ritz Carlton, St Regis, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental in KL are among the cheapest in the world compared to the others of the same brands in the world. 😀
Hi Dany, hope you stay in the Philippines for good, and hope you soon will be able to own a condo unit in the city that you like like Makati and hope you will bring your family to the Philippines and experience the nature, the beaches, the foods, the malls and the Filipino hospitality and everything. Please try to visit after BGC, the Ortigas center also start from the malls along EDSA from Shang-rila Hotel and Mall then walk straight to Megamall, then walk to the futuristic Podium Mall just near the Megamall and then to Estancia Mall then to the Capitol Commons, and there is also the Robinson's Galleria mall just walking distance from the Megamall. Everything is walkable there and these mall are within the Ortigas CBD (Central Business District), then after Ortigas you can go to the Eastwood City, beautiful buildings there and one of my favorite places in Metro Manila. Stay great always.

Makati is just a concrete jungle. Nothing really special compared to developed cities in Asia. Comparing it to most cities in Philippines is what makes it somewhat special.
That’s your opinion But no matter what u say there’s still a lot of decent kind foreigners love our country. Philippines is not for everyone especially to people like you who are insecure and bitter. Stay away from our West Philippine Sea.
When are you coming to Ireland Danny
Visit also the Okada area of Manila.. The casino capital..
I'd prefer Makati over BGC, anyday. So much more greener.
philippines fiood is underated try local food like menudo mechado morcon hamonado afritada sisig sinigang pancit palabok pancit canton pancit bihon guisado lumpia sariwa arozcaldo pinesa buko pie halo halo bibingka and many more
Wow Makati triangle nice 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Makati is just a concrete jungle. Nothing really special compared to developed cities in Asia. Comparing it to most cities in Philippines is what makes it somewhat special.
That’s your opinion But no matter what u say there’s still a lot of decent kind foreigners love our country. Philippines is not for everyone especially to people like you who are insecure and bitter. If you love other Asian countries. Just shut up. No matter what there’s still something especially in my country that you don’t see Don’t come here again
❤

BGC is still better because it is more walkable. Makati is so spread out so it's an effort to go from one place to another.
I see a lot of Starbucks shops
