spent a short layover in shanghai in february earlier this year and it was surreal. it was snowing and 5 in the morning - no one on the street, so it felt like silent hill. But it was so fun seeing the Bund, the underground tunnel(built in 2008 so a little kitchy and outdated), and the modern architecture. Coming from LA it was night and day. No homeless, no ghetto street vendors, no graffiti, little trash. Actually useful public transit. All the cars were BYD and sleek. Everyone was friendly enough. just looking over the river from different angles is magical. Wish id had more time to visit museums and what not but enjoyed the little i experienced.

Em, just got back from Hangzhou and Shanghai, the setup is like Plano, TX., but 20 yrs ahead. I mean robots cleaning mall and streets, that kind of stuff. People shopping and enjoying themselves everywhere. Perhaps I am wrong but a strong China benefits the world, as it already has benefited the poorest countries (while we have done... I don't know if anything in the last 200 yrs). China's collapse will be felt through the world. My made in Houston TAXA cricket (70% Chinese parts) will be made in (who can fill the void?). I don't understand why anyone would wish the worst from 1/6 of humanity. I wish everyone in the world lives like people in China and US!
Looks awesome Dany! From someone who just moved back from Shanghai to LA, you did a great job exploring The City Above the Sea and keeping an open mind:) Brought back memories, keep up the great insights!
China welcomes everybody - regardless your race, religion , rich or poor , young or old to experience the Chinese way of peace and prosperity , harmony and happiness
I am Chinese. In fact, I don't really recommend taking big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen as tourist routes. China has many famous historical cities, such as Xi'an and Quanzhou, and there are also many beautiful landscapes, like Wuyi Mountain, Zhangjiajie, Jiuzhaigou, Yunnan, Xinjiang, and so on. They are all very beautiful. Welcome to China!
Good on you for taking initiative to visit a place to draw your own conclusions instead of blindly believing what they present to you on western news media.
It's sad that before 2019, it was not controversial to visit China at all. Now the politics about China in the West is so toxic you can't even say anything positive about it. There was a poll about the most beautiful countries in the world and China wasn't even in the top 40. I left a comment that China should be in there and half the comments are about how bad the politics and people are...*sigh*
As long as you don't do anything illegal, no one will look at what you are doing. China has 1.4 billion people. These security cameras are only investigated if a violation has been committed and are automatically deleted after a certain amount of time, making it impossible to store all the video all the time at an unaffordable cost.
@howardhuo3592 so here in vancouver canada, there's been a sharp increase of random stranger assaults. A lot of these attacks are not caught/prosecuted because of lack of evidence. I would love it if my city could install more cameras just for this purpose
Left Beijing today. Had a wonderful 3 weeks in China visiting Chengdu, Chongqing and then Beijing. Yummy food, friendly people and cute cute pandas 🐼🐼🐼🐼 For sure the things we see on TV and western media are all "selective" negative on China. After I went to China I saw the real deal myself. Will sure go again! Tip don't go during the summer holidays 😂 like I did unless you like crowds. That's May, October, Chinese New Year also
Summer vacation refers to July and August, when students are on break, so it's a good time for tourism. However, avoid coming to China during Labor Day (May 1st to 5th) and National Day (October 1st to 7th), as many Chinese people travel during these holidays and tourist attractions become overcrowded. Chinese New Year is also special, as everyone goes home, and many shops and hotels are closed.
Most westerners would not have heard of 2nd-tier cities other than just Beijing and Shanghai, but much lesser from us in SE Asia/rest of East Asia. You prob see mostly locals which is quite true, but it's also because if there's any international tourists, they are likely to come from SE Asia and places like S Korea/Japan who are indistinguishable to the western eyes. it's like a Chinese seeing all Europeans as Russians in China. As a foreigner myself, while 1st-tiered cities are a first introduction into the cultures of China, the gem actually lies in the 2nd-tiered ones and beyond. And the gem of gems actually lie in the little towns and villages and the very diverse landscapes China has. If you are from the West, you'd not have heard of them because it's either western media touch very little on China or reported biasedly and tar the every facet of the country with the same brush.
@@kayleung5722 Actually cash is more commonly used in smaller cities than big ones! But people here may not be familiar with English than 1st tiered cities. I highly recommend Guizhou, it's a third-tier province where my mom comes from. It's one of the most diverse areas in China, so many different minority ethnic groups live over there (my mom is from one of them). They have beautiful scenery and delicious food. You can find some vlogs on TH-cam!
Wlc great anicent modern freedoms china 🇨🇳 & not only mainland wlc Hong Kong 🇭🇰 Taiwan 🇹🇼 & Macao 🇲🇴 too it’s a beautiful stunning freedoms states of great China 🇨🇳 ❤️🩹💐
Actually the name of the hotel you visited in the video is Peace Hotel, and that's why they have nine nation suites, that symbolizes their desire for peace, and they hope that all countries can be in the same house as brothers, not fighting each other.
@@jannikmusic9609 Capitalists hate communists and must smear communism and socialism. But China is not a pure communist country but one combines communism, socialism and capitalism.
If you ever like to come back to China, my biggest recommendation is Chongqing. It is also a big city with amazing skyline but it is so different from Shanghai. Looking forward to your Chongqing vlog, man!
You sure know how to enjoy 🎉 life : Come to Kuala Lumpur and you experience the same luxuries as in Shanghai 😂 I am Malaysian-Chinese and YES Shanghai is excellent ‼️ Food People Sights Tourism 🥰
Chinese New Zealander here. Like another commet said, the best way to get to know a country is to go there yourself instead of believing what you hear ad see on mainstream media. They also say how bad Russias economy is these days because of the sanctions and what not, but if you watch what BLOGGERS, like yourself, who visited Moscow and stuff, they said nothing but great things about it
I'm from Beijing so I'm probably the only one here who says he "doesn't like Shanghai." But jokes aside, Shanghai gave me a fresh sense of integration and inclusiveness. My experience was very positive and unforgettable.

It's sad that before 2019, it was not controversial to visit China at all. Now the politics about China in the West is so toxic you can't even say anything positive about it. There was a poll about the most beautiful countries in the world and China wasn't even in the top 40. I left a comment that China should be in there and half the comments are about how bad the politics and people are...*sigh*
super sad indeed... the media and politicians has brain washed the majority of the world's population. Now the world is starting to wake up.
All those western poll are fake or biased against not just China but the whole Asia and Africa.
They are just jealous about how China is so advanced these days.
Shanghai is really a beautiful city 😍😍😍

@@Maojinping-wg3gw Ignorance and prejudice, yes, are man like you.
My wedding was held in that hotel 7 years ago.
I can sense that those monitor cameras do make foreigners feeling nervous. Actually it also make us Chinese feel safe.
What's the big deal? The normal people should feel just OK with cameras as we didn't do anything bad, why should we care? So does visitors.
Cameras are not for us regular folks 😂 if you don’t have anything to hide, you shouldn’t be scarred of the cameras 😂😂😂
UK also has lots of security cameras for many years.
Decent video with high quality images & visual experience. Love it. Keep up the good work.

Great video as always!!
That's May, October, Chinese New Year also
I love pandas😂
@myroeganilees6230 Who doesn’t like the legendary iron-eating beast? Ha ha
Was in Beijing & Shanghai end last year and really, really loved it! Want to go back again and visit other provinces too.
Thank you for this real video to China.

Can you name 2 of your favourite 2nd tiered cities? Also are there any where I can get around with cash? I don’t want to upgrade my phone.
@@kayleung5722 hangzhou 、chongqing、chengdu
foshan !!!!!
