I think another great tip for someone preparing to get a kitten is 2 kittens are a lot easier to look after than 1. Quite a lot of kitten behavioural issues (the “stages” you mention) are due to kittens getting bored or having no outlet for their energy, so they can become destructive. Whereas 2 kittens are constantly playing with each other and tiring each other out (as well as us!) so I think overall they will tend to be less destructive.
This‼️Thank you for mentioning it 😊 I wasn’t able to get 2 but so many people I know got 2 and it was beneficial for both the kittens and the pet owners!
Animals are just like children, they need medical/ dental care, in addition to, lots of ❤️ (not in a creepy way), patience, and a clean, healthy household ! ❤️👍😺🐈
I got my kitten when she was 5 months, now she is 1 years and 1 month old. I'm lucky that I didn't have to see her scratch up our couch, breaking things and anything to do with destruction. Though she had time she bite me or scratch me but that all my fault since I didnt respect her space I was babying her. Theres also times where she bite my ankle but her biting my ankle was just her being hyper/playful. I'm lucky to not have a cat who was very destructive. Forgot to mention she had those phases where she would jump on the table and steal food but we always put her down and said no and so now she got used to those that she no longer steals food of the table she jumps on the table here and there but not constantly. Ngl I really have grown more love towards cats when ever I see a cat I get so happy like seeing a dog. I love all animals. So to those who have cats. They are amazing when ur able to care or know about them properly. such a great companion/family if u dont wanna end up getting a dog since they are more high maintenance. cats are still high maintenance but not as much as dogs. Good luck to those who will adopt a cat!! You'll love em. My parents didnt at first but now they do
so i'm definitely not an experienced cat owner, my cat recently died at the pretty young age of 6, but here's one thing that may reassure you. i'm sure you've heard many people on the internet saying you're not supposed to feed your cat dry food and instead just give them meat and wet food, however, i would disagree. yes, cats are carnivores but as long as their diet is mostly meat, it's completely fine. and yes wet food provides moisture that your cat can't get from dry food, so just make sure they're drinking enough water. you can do this by getting a cat water fountain that encourages them to drink or any other way that works for you. but don't get worried if you can't afford to only buy wet food, it's ok for them to have dry food. personally i would recommend a mixture of dry and wet food. good luck with ur kittens guys ! !
I always go with what my vet says, not the people on the internet! It all depends on your cat (for instance, mine hates wet food but LOVES drinking water). Thanks for commenting this😊
Great video! I need some tips! I am getting a 4 week old kitten from a friend who no longer wants it. I have done so so much research on kittens and cats and I am ready, I am nervous but super excited. Any tips that will help or anything to take note of?
That is so exciting! I will say 4 weeks is definitely young so I would recommend researching as much as you can about what your kitten will need at each week. The Kitten Lady on TH-cam has a video all about this that I would recommend: th-cam.com/video/zr0jVNeLavs/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=KittenLady. Kittens that young are a lot of work so it's nice to prepare as much as you can prior to bringing the kitty home 😊 ALSO: Just make sure you have a vet set up before bringing the kitten home as well. They're going to need a lot of vet visits in the first few months so it's always important to have one already set up!
@@corinnecarole Hi thank you so much for the tips. I got my kitten 3 weeks ago and at first it was really scary because I had to bottle feed him but now has completely weaned onto wet food and is doing great! He is a orange kitten that I named Simba! He loves his life and thanks for the vet thing, I have one set up now and he is going to get a check up soon!
From my experience, its easier to have two kittens. Since, the will be busy playing around each others o,O I feel like we have been learning so much more from the cat than the cat learned something from us (probably they learned nothing from us). Well, most cats around me place re stray cat tho.
He definitely was more cuddly in the beginning because he was so little and needed body heat. Overtime he’s gotten less cuddly but still sleeps on me at night! It definitely depends on the cat but since he was so young when I got him, he warmed up to me quite quickly!
It's also been nearly a year since my exfiancee found her kitten, a female orange tabby she took in after finding her on the freeway. They've developed quite a strong bond.
I use food bowls from Home Goods! And for food, I personally feed him Purina Pro Plan because my vet and I discussed that as the best food for him. Every cat is different though!
So I started introducing my cat to a leash and harness outside when he was very young so it was easier but I would just say go slow! You wanna make sure that they are comfortable at each step. This is the video I watched to help me train him 😊th-cam.com/video/ERllZYZuaOE/w-d-xo.html
A new young kitten is expensive. Must c vet on really often basis at 1st. Like once a month til bout 6 mo. I've had mine. Since may. So far have spent. 500 plus. That's shots deworming flea and tick care eye meds they were runny. And antibiotic. Now shes to get spayed. Dont have estimate yet. Shes torn my balcony y screen and bedrm one. Also several other things. Anything that dangles. Moves in breeze. Twinkles. She goes after. Including my feet. But early in morn shes so sweet. Comes sleep with me. Kisses me. Cuddles. Love her to death but gotta c nvr of bldg about screens. Omg. Would nvr give her up. Shes not my 1st
I adopted my kitten at 2 months old and that was the earliest that I was allowed to adopt in New York State. It's hard for me to say what age is best because I only know my experience, but from all my research it's definitely more work the younger they are. When a kitten is 1 month old, they are either still drinking milk or are just weaning off of it so it's definitely a bigger responsibility. Here's a good video that shows what kittens are like at each week from 0-8 weeks! th-cam.com/video/2_w-vOR0TuE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=KittenLadyKittenLady
the recommended age is from 12 to 14 weeks. i just got mine as three-and-a-half-month old and aside from the crazy cat hours she has, she's been a really calm and great cat.
@@corinnecarole but we had to sell him and all but I hope ur happy with ur cat cuz at first I thought my cat was pretty annoying not that much but now I miss him more then my life I hope u have good memories with ur kat :3
