I was on Slimming world a few years ago and i loved it at the beginning but eventually i just started to feel miserable. I managed to lose 2 stone on it but I honestly felt like it was sucking the fun out of my life. People think it's like a miracle plan " how can I lose this much weight eating as much pasta, potatoes, rice etc as I want its amazing" when actually its nothing but a low fat diet. Even good foods with healthy fats eg Avocados are colossal in syns. How can you trust a plan that gives 0.5 syns for a packet of pasta n sauce which literally has nothing in it that is good for you but syn an avocado at 14 syns. I am convinced they get paid to promote those crappy items like pasta n sauce and muller lite. Want to have some sliced apple with peanut butter ok that'll cost you 5 syns but you CAN have a plate of SW chips completely free 😂😂 when you actually take time to look at the plan properly its ridiculous. Eating at a Calorie deficit is the only real sustainable way for weight loss especially for ppl who dont have enormous amount of weight to lose. Sorry for the rant 😂😂
Well said. I was looking into starting the plan and when I looked around at people who have actually lost weight on the 'slimming world' diet you find that they are eating healthy foods in SMALL quantities and not all day long. How can you lose weight if are supposedly 'allowed' to eat rice and pasta all day long
I have not long have up on slimming world and moved to calorie counting too, it's so crazy how exciting you feel being able to eat what you want again. X
I tried SW a few years ago and really didn't like it. I was shot down at one meeting when I asked about exercise. It felt really cliquey... There was little advice on veggie food, and there was too much emphasis on using food full of chemical sweetners.
I quit it as well it was causing me to feel very uncomfortable when I was there But now luckily I have a consultant at my local hospital who is nicer than the sliming world staff
Hi Kira - I always liked the way u ate on sw as I love aldi & i eat similar things. I'm not a fan of all the low fat foods on sw but the meals with plenty of veg suit me as they are low calorie. I agree with you that sw works best for those with 3 stone or more to lose or if you want to maintain eating the sw way. There doesn't seem to be a plan to eat a takeaway or eat out every now & again. I've been watching some consultants who are blogging from from their beds living their best lives with members paying £6 for a zoom chat. Sw have been a very greedy putting up the price at this time & giving back very little in return & it serves them right if people like you are leaving. I look fwd to seeing if ur hauls or wiat change very much. Good luck on ur new plans & u look really well too.
its interesting about slimming world being better for really overweight peopke i TOTALLY agree im 20st 7lb and felt restricted and confused on calorie counting, but feel so much better on sw
I gave up slimming world years ago because it was really messing with my head. I was obsessed with food and constantly feeling like I was missing out. Don’t even get me started on the effect it has on your digestive system! There’s just not enough bulk in it 🤷🏼♀️
Take pictures instead of weighing hun.. this is what I advise my clients. Also if you just have regular scales and working out you could be losing weight but gaining muscle hence why the scales aren’t moving xx
This is also me I was a member for 7 years and Iv now gone to calories and it seems so much better !! It’s hard to convert your brain but when you have it’s great xx
I think lockdown caused a lot of businesses and services to go a bit haywire for awhile. That being said, I stopped going to SW a long time ago. I agree with everything you said (money-making exercise, not enough portion control, works best for people who are really overweight). I lost a bit of weight but the portion sizes were crazy and I stopped losing. I can't cope with dieting anymore.
I stopped SW for calorie counting after 2years, I lost 2 stones with SW but found I missed certain foods too much, 3 weeks into calorie counting the losses are just as slow but I feel liberated, I ate a tin of tomato soup it was only 200 calories but would have been about 5 syns??? Definitely the way to go, I use the nutracheck app, it’s the English version of my fitness pal I’m very happy with it, god knows how people did it before the apps were invented 😂😂
I reached target 3 years ago n i found that there was no kinda help r support 2 help maintain ..i actually went underweight cos i was scared of eatin n puttin the weight on i was sickly lookin when i look bk at fotos.🙈🙈🙈...bout a year ago i started cals i had managed 2 get 2 a weight where i was happy n ive maintained it ever since ...eating real food n nt worrying about syns 🙈🙈so i hear wat ur sayin ...take care xxx🥰
I've binned off Slimming world for that very reason, my consultant was only interested in the money...Disgusting actually....I calorie count now(well just started)much better 👍
