@@abyssstrider2547 Definitely, they have excellent memory. Trick them once and they’ll never forget it. Op: remember the box is likely pitch black, so the pigeon doesn’t see anything.
It’s funny how the kid owls just stand straight up in a corner. Like, exactly how people react when a fight happens in a bar. “I’m not involved with this, see my hands”?
For those wondering why the owls aren't like raining havoc on the pigeon: it's a really confined space, and their first concern is their offsprings, the pigeon doesn't seem really agressive... Owl are not the best fighters, especialy on the ground, they hunt by dropping on their prey with speed, mostly using their ability to see thru the dark, and the fact that their feathers glide thru the air with absolute silence (so it's more like stealth assassination, and not fighting), plus, like all birds, they are really fragile, so fighting to death in a box with a pigeon isn't really what they are looking for.
One of the young was appearantly trampled to death. At 3:43 owl mom stepped on it's head and it didn't get up afterwards. You see some leg movement and after some more kicks it ceases to move at all. So fighting more aggressively would have most likely caused all of her offsprings to die.
Quiet?? When?? She was literally hissing at the baby barn owls and flapping her wings, they were just chilling and minding their own business when all of a sudden some strangers come into their own home acting like it's their's 😭
My goodness! Owl momma came in with the groceries like "excuse me? You've got the wrong house bish"... That pigeon really tried to wait it out, hopes she'd calm down
That owl gave no Fs. She kicked ass and took names. Even her own kids. Nobody is off limits in the owl nest. Kids under her care one minute, kids 6 feet under the next.
@@christoffer4862 🤷♂️ Yeah, I remember the owls were birds of prey, they even had a mouse in their beaks for their kids! I imagine the grown ups should have been way more hardcore.
It takes a village. The pigeon has no intentions of hurting the babies although they did disturbed them. Despite that a nest was the safest place to lay an egg given the circumstances
@@Vicky_Hyenas she didn't kill it, it fell asleep. Most of the smallest ones were falling asleep throughout the video. She did step on them but it was more to hold them back and protect them and very gentle. It's the same with how she wasnt doing damage to the pigeon even though she could have shredded it if she wanted to, owls are extremely smart as well as non-agressive (especially barn owls) and know how much pressure to apply. Accidents can and do happen, but all these babies survived to fledging stage, I haven't kept up since then.
Mom looks at that pigeon for a second, gets smacked and then says “you disrespectful little shit, you come into MY HOUSE and scare MY babies and then smack me??!”
I knew the dad wouldn’t do jack, they’re wired just to hunt and bring food while the mom cares and feed for the nestlings. The moment I saw the mother come in I knew it’d get ínstense haha. That being said, that pigeon really annoyed me lol
I love how the dad is so confused and scared, backed away in the corner and coming in and out a few times without doing anything, kind of accepting it but at the same time being scared. Then the mum comes in and is ready to tussle straight away.
Male didn't seem scared, just confused. Male owl instincts are probably tilted more towards providing food. Notice how he returns multiple times with larger prey. While I'd bet that Female owl instincts in comparison have stronger proclivities towards protecting the nest. Consider that if the offspring die, it will be very difficult for the female to endure pregnancy again. It's a large investment for the female.
Owls kill eagles like it's no big deal. That pigeon was lucky that the owl was just trying to get it out of the nest. The owl clearly was more interested in protecting the young.

Pigeon probably wasn’t acting like anything, pigeons can’t see a thing at night and probably had no idea what it was doing, otherwise it would have left
@@JustDaniel6764 I believe it's because each egg is laid a day apart, meaning they also hatch at different times. So some siblings are older than others. A single day difference can mean a huge size difference between chicks.
Yeah, the small ones usually dont survive because their bigger siblings either steal their food or outright kill them at some point. Atleast in some birds, not sure about barn owls, but seven chicks is a lot, usually two or three survive to leave the nest.
Its basically a survival tactic of mainly predator birds. If there is enough food, all young will survive, but if there isnt, the first one(s) will survive who hatched first in order to guarantee at least one, two or more to survive
When the pigeon first went into the nest and laid the egg it was daytime, it could definitely see it was occupied. The night fight it probably couldn’t see as much though.
The pigeon actually killed one of the baby owls, because while the mother owl was protecting her children, the mother accidently jumped onto a baby owl, after the baby owl was being jumped on, it didnt move at all. I feel bad, it must be traumatizing.
This is perfect bizarre backstory for the tale "ugly duckling" on how ducks egg got tangle with a swans egg except its a pigeon egg got tangle with an owls nest.
@@christiantakata8855 It's not going to survive. Baby pigeons only eat a substance called "crop milk" that's made in their parents stomach, for the first week or so. I believe it's one of the reasons why factory farming of pigeons never really got off the ground in the early 20th century; Baby chickens will eat by themselves, baby pigeons need both parents alive and providing crop milk in those early stages.

3:03 here
and somehow they still get dragged into the fight, even one of the babies died😬

Male didn't seem scared, just confused. Male owl instincts are probably tilted more towards providing food. Notice how he returns multiple times with larger prey. While I'd bet that Female owl instincts in comparison have stronger proclivities towards protecting the nest. @@JustDaniel6764 I believe it's because each egg is laid a day apart, meaning they also hatch at different times. So some siblings are older than others. A single day difference can mean a huge size difference between chicks.
@@WouldntULikeToKnow. oh right, fair enough.
