The other chick whose eye gets injured seems to fade much faster than the other two. Nature can be cruel.

I don't think he's actually standing there holding the camera it's a stationary camera that he's controlling remotely. It's pretty common with bird cameras covering nests like this on a live cam
You do realize that the guy recording this was not with the ants and the birds but on his computer somewhere else watching a live stream and controlling the camera that way?
And instead of helping the birds the person is just filming i saved already 3 little birds two from falling down the nest and another from ants its easy to take care of them the 3 of them survived and are now in the wild
All right but then the ants could die and he's just choosing one piece of prey over another prey animal. But the bigger issue is that the person is not standing above the nest holding a camera, the camera is placed there and they control it remotely. These live cams are sometimes on these nest 24 hours a day for months at a time. There are not always people nearby to intervene and intervention should only be a last resort for animals that are going extinct or need help building a population. Fact is the only chance these ants had was if the parents could get there in time. It's not the job of people that film nature documentaries or bird live cams too be their security guards 24/7 in effect it would be probably bad for the survival of the species if they intervene too much. I mean humans could theoretically save every single chick but then they would starve to death because their parents wouldn't have enough food for them all. This is why the parents themselves often kill their own chicks or neglect them or the siblings will kill them. Birds are brutal
Wtf? Really are you saying that phrase? Animals and all kind of beings don't have offspring because it's a gift or it's a price or something to reward them, beings have offspring to preserve their species and that's all.
