LIttle bit of positive feedback: I really liked the "hey we have some merch, it's on sale, go have a look if you like" - didn't hammer it in, didn't spend too long on it, great work Also, amazing pass on that Nissan up the mountain on Lap 5 holy shit
I've just rewatched it and can see nothing of the sort. Clip starts at 10:30 - where is this near spin-out? There's no contact and the Nissan is always pointed straight ahead.
Mount Panorama turn 2 is called 'Griffin's Bend'. Also, the V8 Supercars in the Bathurst 1000 hit 300km/h at the speed trap at the end of Conrod straight and into Caltex Chase. G'day Jimmer from Canberra, Australia
I used to drive the group C cars on GT Sport around bathurst a lot, one mistake is all it takes to either get sent to the shadow realm or just have your career straight up yeeted.
Jimmer: "If they don't go 200 MPH in a race series I don't wanna hear about it... That pretty much negates everything except for NASCAR and F1, I think." NHRA, MotoGP, Indy, and WEC Fans: "Allow us to introduce ourselves..."
@@Jacksracingprojects2 Yep, NASCAR has been ruined for over a decade now. With stupid stages during races, the ridiculous "playoff" system, and the F1-like predictability of the races and championship, it's gotten to a near unwatchable point. Amazing what less than 20 years can do to a sport, eh?
Just looked up different maps of Mt Panorama and there are quite a few showing "Griffins Bend" as "Quarry Corner". In the 30+ years of watching races at Bathurst I have never heard it called "Quarry Corner". I have always known the track as Pit Straight into Hell Corner then up Mountain Straight into Griffins Bend. Through the Cutting and over the rise into Reid Park, onto Sulman Park and down into Frogs Hollow (the grate). Over the rise into McPhillamy Park and off over Skyline. Down through the Esses and drop down the Dipper. Exit Forrest's Elbow, scream down Conrod Straight and slam the brakes into the Chase. Out of the Chase to the final corner, Murray's and across the line.
Jimmy, get your arse here to Australia for the Bathurst 12 hour to catch the Group C demonstration! I'm now thinking of driving up to the event just watch it. Great video, too, mate. 👍🏻
Watching you do this video just made me appreciate what you do so much more. Not to say I didn't appreciate what you do already, because I do . I have a rig myself, and I know how much focus it takes. I can't imagine trying to tame that beasts while commentating through corner. Bravo jimmer . 💯💯💯
this is peak sim content as far as I'm concerned. I feel the same way about what a race car "should" be, although i can't even come close to the driver skill on display
When not closed for a race weekend Bathurst is an public road you can drive. It has a 60km/h speed limit that is hard to stick to (but, you have to as there are speed cameras). The down hill section is unbelievably steep in person.
Find it funny that first we see it in a game, now in 2020 apart of the supports category for the Bathurst 12 hour, they are having a group C car have a demo run at Bathurst
Looking forward to the demonstration laps by a few group c cars at the next bathurst 12 hour race in march. Because if an old prototype can tame the mountain... ...then surely...
If you could get the pre 1987 Bathurst it'd be even wilder. The Chase was added that year after Mike Burgmann was killed during the 1000 and eliminated the second, harsher bump on Conrod Straight, where in the 70's and 80's touring cars would get airborne at 160+ mph, a Group C car would literally take off the ground I assume.
I’ve just seen Aarava do F1 at Bathurst. Now this. Bathurst heaven right now! Merry Christmas and Happy new year to me 😁 Also I love your knowledge and enthusiasm Jimmy. Bathurst is one of my favs and I appreciate that you love many, many Cars, Motorsport categories and Circuits. Your a true Motorsport nerd. 😊🏁
Hero to zero moments on the last lap, sadly all too common. I just did a race at spa the other day, worked my way up from p10 to P3, got passed out of no name, and I tried to get him back going into the bus stop, but went deep and finished p12.... Was pretty crazy though going side by side in pouhon. Race room ai is great.
The “quarry” is Griffons bend. Bathurst is somewhere I believe all race fans should visit much like the Nurburgring, Tv and even video games don’t do the track justice as the elevation of the track in person is just insane.
Love RR content, probably my favorite sim. You should take these Group C's for a lap at midohio and road america. Probably my favorite combo's to drive.
Group C on Raceroom is mental enough, but on Bathurst - that turns the wick up. I'd like to see more Group C cars like the Jags, the Sauber Merc C9, the screaming Mazdas and Toyotas, the Lancia LC1, even the crap ones like the Aston Martin AML1 and the Zakspeed Ford Probe GT.
Jimmy, please try and remember. T2 at Bathurst is Griffins Bend, not Quarry. lol. You always say you're terrible with corner names when actually you're not, apart from Mt Panarama. Massive fan of the track, driven it in real life in my Toyota LiteAce van/camper. Love PC2 for helping me get my mountain kicks, shame no Holden option. Loving your work buddy. ✌️👍
You know, I've often dreamed of what would have been like if Australia had proper Group C racing. Or indeed, sports cars racing like in the US. To my knowledge, we had only three sports car races held down under. Two of them were held under the World Sportscar Championship in the 80s and the third was held at Adelaide for the American Le Mans Series in 2000. So I've often wondered why we never had held our own series like those overseas. Lack of talent, perhaps? Lack of interest? Too expensive, shortage of proper circuits, location? Who knows. Although we have seen an explosion in GT racing down under since the 2000s, especially now since Bathurst is hosting the 12 Hour and we have the talent to back it up in the world stage. Hell, next year we are set to host the Asian Le Mans series with a 4 hour race at The Bend.
This was properly exciting. Bathurst is one of those tracks I love to watch but racing on? You can forget it. Every wall would have my car planted in it.
Its great to see theyre still updating Raceroom, its a great sim. I have updated, but havent had a chance to play it yet. Have they upgraded the graphics at all? That is really the only thing holding this sim back!
T2 at the end of mountain straight is Griffins bend, quarry corner is the right-hander at T6. Ill be having a crack of this very soon, looks awesome!
'You should feel violated after driving a race car' Jimmer 2019

lol yeah

thats a really cool touch, something i wouldnt have noticed
@Valentin Cody bro what's the deal with this bots. they're everywhere
@Valentin Cody and somehow always followed by another bot saying "it worked"

Yes. A good plug should either be non aggressive or entertaining. Or both.
Amazing pass, lol. He knocked the Nissan out of his way, you can see it nearly spin out. Hardly amazing.
I've just rewatched it and can see nothing of the sort. Clip starts at 10:30 - where is this near spin-out? There's no contact and the Nissan is always pointed straight ahead.
Wow yeah I just saw that. Man Raceroom AI are pretty impressive.

Pls no punterino, Jimmer
11:10 nice little dance with pedals.

Something about this track always felt special to me.
probably the beautiful mountain part and the long straight lines
Probably the massive elevation chamges you don't see even on rally stages

Pretty sure V8 Supercars hit around 290km/h, but I might be wrong.
@@DonatProdanSimRacing 310 is the highest speed I've seen but I think with current gear boxes the top speed is a touch lower
There's enough carnage with GT3's and V8 Supercars, so, Group C there, ouch.
Next year S5000 will race there. Those are basically F3 cars with 560bhp V8 engines.
If there's carnage in that race that's really going to be ouch.
iGge throwback to the v8 ute carnage
GT3s are so boring though. It's just so hard to mess up driving a GT3 car. Group C and Group 5? Hell yeah!
Real carnage is with the toyota gt86’s racing. 30 odd of those with 50% being teenagers between 15-18 results in some great crashes
corey douglas what about the Hyundai excels 😬
Watching the two wide all the way up the hill was just absolutely gnarly, gave me chills!

It is called Griffin's bend and the v8 supercars down conrod straight are very close to 190mph. So pretty close to 200
