I used something similar to film a facility tour at work. A good point to add too is that as you build, even if you have a $2000 sometimes its not the best gear for the shoot. We chose phone over the 70D because we needed to work lite and fast so the best option was a phone. Great set up.

Cameras, lighting, microphone etc is definitely quite intimidating to a beginner. I've tried to start by spending as little as possible, but there's so many good practical ideas here, it probably takes a little investment to film quality content.
Just bought all this stuff to start my own TH-cam channel. Really impressive and right to the point. Exactly the video I needed to jump right into it. Great links to Amazon as well. Got everything ordered in a matter of 10 minutes. Right on brother.

I watched Think Media and Sunny Lenarduzzi and took all their advice. You DEFINITELY have to put in a lot of hard work to make it work though.

One of my favorite accessories for creating content is my Shure Motiv MV88 it is not cheap but worth getting cause the sound quality is ten times better than using the built in mic on my phone!

Only comment.... the lighting from the Neewer light was a little too 'brassy' for my liking. Would there have been a way to tone it down with some sort of a gel set-up?
Managed to low ball some of my own purchases even further: got a tripod from $5 Below (store), an $11 ring light on sale from K-Mart, invested in a stand alone Dockem Koala wall mount for around $15, and am currently working on buying an external mic. Will definitely be checking out your microphone video. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and expertise.
To be honest (and cheap) I found that the phone clip from a cheap selfie stick has a 1/4 20 thread on it. I put that right on my tripod and I'm good to go.

One thing I notice a lot with the items you recommend from Amazon, is that they're not available for shipping to New Zealand and probably some other countries around the world. I do a lot mobile filmmaking, so I keep an ulanzi STO-3, 2 moment lenses, a fotga nd filter, a Rode videomic me, and a joby 325 on me all the time. I just use available light, which means when the sun is gone I'm out of luck. Lol
